  • "Excellent wine list with fair prices, food was very good---not top of the line but perfect for a casual shorts/blue jeans night out."

  • "We had a birthday celebration for our 22 yr old twin daughters at Monkeypod on 7/19, a busy Saturday night. The restaurant and bar were packed but they simultaneously accommodated our group of 12 and another group of 16. Our waitress Jessica handled our large group with aplomb. Our group sampled everything from fish tacos to the Mahi Mahi special to BBQ short ribs. All excellent. Jessica even got the live music group to shut down momentarily so we could sing Happy Birthday! The only hitch came with the bill when our BYOC custom cake showed a $60 serving fee ($5 per plate). I pointed out to Jessica I had previously been quoted a $25 cutting fee. The bill was promptly fixed and that was that. This was a noisy but great celebration."

  • "This restaurant was a great spot for a first date. I met a new man who is great and the food and wine was good, music great, service great, everything was great except you know what? He hadn't called me..."

  • "Loved it. Short Rib special was fantastic. We were in Maui for 6 nights and ended up eating twice. And will return next time."

  • "Wide variety menu with burgers and sandwiches too and an extensive craft beer list. Great spot with reasonable prices for Maui."

  • "On vacation, visited here for dinner. I ordered their lobster/fish/coconut stew. It was good, super spicy, but I wondered where the lobster pieces were. My wife ordered their Maui burger. She said it wasn't very good, they added something to the burger, that made it taste not very well. My sone initially ordered their pasta off the kids menu. They brought it out and it was the tiniest bowl he's ever seen with a thimble full of sauce. It might be good for a 3-5 year old, but not an older kid. We asked for something else... I had their fresh squeezed lemonade, but wasn't asked for refills or if I wanted something else."

  • "We loved our dinner so much we returned the following day for lunch!! That says it all. After eating at many of the high end restaurants in the area this was an unexpected surprise. Casual, great live music, very pleasant service, very good wine even by the glass, we were able to get a last minute reservation and the food was awesome!! Don't miss the poke tacos, divine!!"

  • "The fish special was very nice but not very big. Kids loved the keiki menu. Service was attentive and friendly."

  • "Monkeypod was a great experience during our vacation to Wailea. The service was attentive without being overbearing. The service was very helpful in making suggetions, and even came around for "last call" on happy hour. The food was inventive and delicious. My 6 year old son LOVED the live guitar music! Brew Dog was also filming there that night, which added to the energy. Highly recommended!"

  • "Had the Coconut Fish stew. I am a seafood cook myself and rate fish preparation very critical. The place is very attentive to your needs. Very friendly and if you like something different from what you might cook at home or at a chain restaurant. slightly high priced but not as much as others in Maui that have lessor menu selection and quality taste. Recommend it to get away from the resort foods."

  • "My title says it all - it was really noisy - they could use some rugs or something for sound absorption. However the food and the brews were excellent."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "Without a doubt, the best Mai Tais on the Island or anywhere for that matter. And I don't care for Mai Tais. The food was well prepared and had innovative and interesting fresh ingredients. We had the fresh fish and braised short ribs that were excellent."

  • "Fantastic place. Upscale gastropub with some great selections. Waitress was knowledgable in food intolerances and made some great suggestions."

  • "Food was excellent - everything tasted fresh and flavors were unique and creative. Server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without seeming to try too hard - just nice and natural. Outdoor doing was very nice; inside seemed a bit loud with live music, but people looked like they were having fun. This was a great recommendation from a friend of ours in SF. I would highly recommend it."

  • "They seated us on time at a good table. The ambience is great and noise level moderate. The menu is adequate but not very expansive. The wine selection by the glass is very limited. We had steak, seafood, and pizza. All were very good. We ate on a Sunday evening and the place was full with a moderate wait. Our waiter was polite and professional but service was slow to get our drinks, food order, and deliver the appetizer and entrés. Overall, not bad. Maybe 5 stars with better service."

  • "Great for a casual dine. Food is overpriced and just ok needs more flavor. The fries are good though Forgettable."

  • "Great view from terrace. Eclectic beer and cocktail choices. (Didn't get to the wine list!) Had appetizers - all good. Great live music. Staff was warm and welcoming."

  • "We stopped here for lunch before heading to the airport. Food was good, not excellent. I ordered a special margarita but it arrived tasting like a plain one, but at twice the cost. Husband enjoyed the tuna tacos. Wings were so-so. I might give it a second try."

  • "Seemed like a good spot. Was told wait time was an hour. Made reservation thru OpenTable and was promptly served. Odd for a place that said wait time was an hour. Atmosphere was nice. Waiter was nice, but kind of inattentive. Perhaps because place was so busy. Also, I hate when orders of food comes out without any coordination. In other words, I ordered 2 appetizers: Chicken Wings and French Fries. Fries came out almost 10 minutes before the wings."

  • "The food and service was great. Would definitely go back. Cesar salad was amazing. Very fresh. And chic pie was fantastic"

  • "Had been here a few years ago, and didn't find it all that good, anda bit pricey. We thought we would give it another go. My wife had the cheeseburger and I had the special pizza of the day. We both found them to be very good. We also tried a side of the jalapeño mashed potatoes on a recommendation. What a find these are. They are a must if you visit this place, as is the dessert. The pies are excellent! Still a bit pricey but if you go during happy hour, it's not bad. They have a great selection of beers on draft as well."

  • "Not exactly what we expected. Food was ok and service was slow. Noise level was high with live singer on stage in dining area. Trendy but pricey for quality of service and food. Food was bland, expected more from a Merriman restaurant and our server Renee could have had a better personality. Service with a smile will go a long ways!"

  • "Went there the last night of our week long vacation. We ate out every night and Monkeypod was at the bottom of our list. It's ok. Our noodle dish was good. I had the appetizer ahi tacos and the ahi was beautiful but the flavors with it were boring and detracted from the ahi instead of enhancing it. This was our waitresses favorite thing on the menu… Husband had the mahi mahi. Again, said it was good, not great."

  • "Overall very good. Friendly and responsive, good recommendations from staff and overall a very pleasant experience. They should serve sparkling water though, since the glass is recyclable like wine bottles, only drawback."

  • "Great selection, lots of organic and locally sourced options. Huge cocktail, wine, and beer list. Also, get there from 9-11 PM for late night happy hour!!"

  • "We enjoyed this restaurant a few years age and this time our food was not up to par. I ordered the house special was fish, it was dry, well over cooked and very small, probably started out at 6 ounces but barely 3 oz after cooking. The rest of the family's food was not impressive, at least not for the price."

  • "Loved the music, lively crowd, good beer selection - other than that, the food was mediocre plus very expensive, the place is WAY overstaffed, and its super crowded. i can't really figure out the draw."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "I ordered the Ahi with the jalepeno mashed potatoes and it was excellent. It was so good that I went back again and ordered the same dinner. My only complaint about the restaurant is the loud music. They had love music and it was so loud we couldn't hear our waitress talk to us and conversation was difficult. My son ordered the seafood curry stew and loved it."

  • "Our party had steak to pizza. The beef is from the island and is delicious. Get a table outside for a view of the Pacific at sunset."

  • "Service and food were excellent. Had a salad and pastrami sandwich with truffle fries. Everthing was tasty. The pickled vegetable on the side was fiery hot, but delicious. Got there too late to see the closing of the Ladies US Open Golf Tournament with Michelle Wie of Hawaii winning. The World Soccer tournament kept the lunch crowd tuned to the TV screens."

  • "The restaurant was fabulous, the food was great, the service was friendly and helpful. The only thing that was a negative was the flies. Until a little later in our dinner we were attacked by flies. I know it's not the restaurants fault."

  • "A friend recommended that we visit while we were in Maui for vacation and we are so glad that we did. The service was excellent, the food was outstanding, and we got to watch the sunset from our seats at the outdoor dining area! We will definitely be back and will recommend to all of our friends!"

  • "The pork tacos and mushroom flatbread were great. The wood fired chicken wing appetizer was ok at best. Wings were slightly chewy, dipping sauce was just alright, and thought 6 wings for $15 was a bit expensive. The ambiance was great, and rest of the food and drinks were lovely"
