It is some fun, some food, some cocktails. How does it succeed in the middle of a unique resort (Ko'Olina), across the street from a Disney (Aulani) resort? Now that is a challenge. Went with the gnocchi to fill up and wasn't expecting much more than that with red or white sauce. What I got blew me away. Fresh chopped tomatoe sauce, shiitake shrooms, goat cheese crumbles and hand made gnocchi. We stayed in the ko olina area for a week and it was difficult for us to find good restaurants that didn't serve overpriced mediocre food. We missed out on Monkeypod when we were in Maui a couple of months ago. The food selection was pretty good but not extensive but I guess that is to be expected since something like 90% of the ingredients are locally sourced which is great. They had an extensive wine list. The live entertainment was nice and the outdoor patio was crowded. We will definitely be back. Misha (bartender) very friendly. Wine list is great. Obsidian Cab is the best. Nightly entertainment never fails. Really enjoyed Jeff and Al on our last visit.
Food: Love the pumpkin raviolis, ceasar salad and pete's burger. My kids like the pulled pork slider and the maui mahi fish and chips. An overall great experience. Too bad I'm back in California now. Everything was absolutely wonderful. We will miss having Poke tacos. On our last visit we had the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. We typically don't do much dessert - but couldn't resist the home made cream pies. The staff was also great; super friendly and helpful with all of our questions and food allergies.
