One of our sides did not come with dinner, we had to find the manager to ask about it and 10 minutes later we finally got it. The manager did make if right by "buying" one of the entrees. The waitress only said the side was taken to the wrong table, not really an apology. The restaurant is was too hot upstairs. Would suggest more fans.

Their macadamia nut encrusted mahi maui is always excellent, as are the veggies, etc. Also their cream pies are to die for - large enough to split! We like to sit upstairs, close to the balcony rail as the outdoor breeze is usually very nice and comfortable. Servers are also very friendly & helpful.

This was our second visit within five days. The restaurant is located in a small shopping strip across from the Aulani Disney Resort. During a shopping trip, we stopped in. The food was so fresh and delicious, we decided to go back. Both visits were during happy hour. Pizzas were on special for half price, and they were wonderful. The steak special was also delicious and more than enough to share. The servers were friendly and helpful and service was quick. Live music was playing during both visits and added to the festive atmosphere. We decided to try dessert since the rest of the meal was so good, so we chose the banana cream pie. The pie was over the top good. It would be worth the visit just to get the pie!!

Went here on a recommendation despite what I read on-line. True to on-line review, this place was indeed a tourist trap. We stood around for 5 minutes before the hostess came around to seat us. Then she asked us if we wanted to sit indoors or on the patio despite the fact that there was a downpour and wind. Sure there were umbrellas, but the wind made them obsolete. Then another 10 minutes of waiting before our server showed up. It took way too long to bring our drinks. When she did, we asked for a covered cup and straw for our toddler. another 10 minutes. Finally the food showed up. Despite the happy hour 50% off, it was still overpriced. $13 for a pizza that was only maybe 12" across!?!? I will NEVER visit this place again. Stay away!!!

Monkeypod will always be on my list whenever there is a special occasion for a family member or friend. The food, especially the aioli and ketchup is amazing! I know it may seem crazy to boast about the condiments, but the restaurant overall is worth every penny. What Monkeypod has to offer may be a bit pricey to some, but again, worth every dollar you spend. Hope you take this review in consideration and enjoy your time at Monkeypod!

This is a lovely venue for lunch; and one that is near some things friends and I have done out in that area so we bank on it. The staff is pleasant, but the service is not. I'm not sure why. We've waited forever for drinks, or one person's order, or as was the case yesterday, for my burger. With tip and tax, paying $17 for a burger would've been fine if my order had been delivered correctly. It was raw in the center (I had ordered it medium), and it took a while for me to track our waitress down (she didn't come back right away to ck if our order was great). She apologized, genuinely, and took it away. She came back and said they were making me a new one. What I got when they brought it back was my original burger, microwaved to death.

I live off island but have been to Monkeypod Ko'olina twice and intend to go each time I am in Honolulu. The food is great and the happy hour prices are awesome. Our server, Keyna, was very spirited and helpful. The only issue we had with my recent trip was that it was very hot in the back (where the high tables are).

Enjoyed lunch in the outdoor patio fronting the golf course and train tracks. The truffle oil mushroom pizza was yummy. My friend had the very fresh mahi fish sandwich with slaw and other trimmings. The garlic truffle oil fries were worth every extra calorie. Oye, our waiter, had an extensive knowledge about the wine offerings and recommended a lovely pinot noir. The banana cream pie capped the meal, too. The only drawback were the flies attracted to my pizza but Oye had planned ahead and brought me a pizza tray to cover it. Highly recommend. Going back for breakfast.

I've only heard great things about Monkeypod and since I live in town, it's been hard to get out to Ko Olina. The only negative is that the hostess didn't speak very nice to us, she even forgot she checked us in and we waited 15min after our reservation before we just went up with our buzzer and checked if our table was ready. (Smaller, dark hair, face piercing) as soon as that was over... We sat downstairs, outside, waitress was AWESOME, food runner was nice, they even take your plates away as soon as you're done. So refined. Manager also came over once to ask how we were doing. FOOOD WAS AMAZING AND MAKE SURE GOU GET A PIE. There was also live music. Such a great atmosphere that my friends and I really enjoyed! Thank you! We will be back

Finally some new additions to Ko Olina that expand the culinary options. This trendy Chef Merriman restaurant raises the level of quality to the entire resort area. The food is creative, interesting, flavorful and delicious. A varied American Cuisine menu with thin crust pizzas, gastropub sandwiches, fish, poultry, and beef adds a new twist to this resort. Check it out! Don't forget to save room for the the cream pies.

  • Way to loud and bad service

    Dined on 8/29/2014
The music was incredibly loud causing everyone in the restaurant to be loud. My husband and I had to shout to hear each other. We finished both the drinks we ordered and the waters and not once did the waitress ask if we wanted a refill. We had to ask the waitress to get us our dessert and the check before we even finished our food because the service was taking so long and we had already been there over an hour. Plus it was over an hour wait for a table. Food was ok, not great. Pieswere good but overpriced. The tables are meant for outside and they dont give you a coaster. So you end up with condensation from your drinks dripping on you. We were hoping for a nice romantic dinner and ended up annoyed and leaving with a bad headache.

Very nice selection of food & drinks. Decent kids menu too. Service was mixed however. Seemed like wait-staff did not communicate too well but to their credit tried to make amends and we were satisfied in the end. The greeting staff however lacked warmth. We went on a busy Friday night on a long weekend and the place was jammed so might explain the hecticness but, in a popular resort you kind of assume that restaurants expect this and prepare. All in all though, worth visiting.

Took my wife to celebrate our anniversary, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Cocktails are pricy but so worth it (the no ka oi truly is and the blueberry mojito is tasty as well) and the pumpkin ravioli are a must. Ambiance was cozy while still maintaining the indoor/outdoor feel; live music was pleasant, yet didn't interfere with the ability to converse. We just had drinks, the ravioli, and soft tacos (the fish tacos and the bulgogi pork tacos). Service was excellent and the price was reasonable. We've been here before and enjoyed more substantial fare, but it's a testament to the restaurant's quality that you can order anything off the menu and know that it will be delicious regardless. Will definitely come again!

Our server was hilarious, incredibly knowledgeable regarding the menu and clearly loves what he does. I had the red snapper and all of the flavors accompanying the dish were perfect. My husband had the fish tacos and by the sound of his delight, they were VERY WELL worth the price. Might have been the best he'd ever had. They accommodated our two boys very well even when they fell asleep in the booth. It was a late dinner. This was a great dining experience and I can't wait to go back.

We came with our family for an 8pm dinner while staying at Disney's Aulani across the street. The food was good, although the children's offerings were limited. The crowd was predominantly singles, and our daughters got an education we had not expected on the mating habits of humans. I would caution parents with children not to venture over once the singles scene starts. The selection was pretty good, and we all enjoyed our food.

Went as a party of four for Sunday Brunch. Seated quickly, very attentive service staff. Had the Poke Tacos and fresh baked cinnamon buns as appetizers. The cinnamon buns, still warm, are sinfully good. Loco Moco was done to perfection, as were the other entrees in our party, which included the fritata, Pete's Benedict, and breakfast burrito. Great live music outside with a strong Hawaiian vibe, at perfect volumes for enjoyment without having your conversation interrupted. Never felt rushed in the least, yet we were never left wanting for anything. Highest recommendation.

This restaurant is one of my favorites. The food is excellent - I always get the fish special of the day. The original cocktails are great. LOVE the Makawao Avenue cocktail!!! Seating is undercover but with an outdoor feel. Dress light because no air-conditioning. Service is very friendly but slow. If you like a long laid back dining experience, it is great. But if you're hungry and want to get in and out - not so much. Parking can be a challenge. Car pool if you can. I'm not a fan of the dessert list - very limited, only cream pies. Some of my friends rave about the pies though, so if that is your thing - great.
