When I was there the kitchen was having trouble with their fan so the whole restaurant was really smoky. It also looked like the host or hostess was out because there was a sign that said 'seat yourself' as we walked in. We had to wait a while 10 min. or so before getting menus or water. The food was good, not great. I think it might have just been a difficult night for the restaraunt.

I love Mona's. It's romantic, hip, and energetic all at the same time. You could go sit at the bar on a friday night or have a romantic dinner with your significant other or go with a group and every group would fit in. The food is pretty good and there is something for everyone. I highly recommend.

Eclectic ambience and reasonably good food marred by poor service. Our entrees arrived 2 minutes after we started eating our appetizers. The waiter agreed to bring the entrees back to the kitchen and "put them under the warming lamp." Which he obviously did, as when he brought them out 25 minutes later, the food was lukewarm and the vegetables were wilted and soggy. The check was presented while we were still eating, but we were told "not to rush." We didn't stay for dessert. It seems the owners have put little time and effort into properly training wait staff, and it clearly shows. Too bad, as the restaurant otherwise shows promise. Hopefully the service will be improved based on feedback.

The service not ok. Our waitress sat at the bar for her break or maybe her shift was over. We sat without anyone offer us another round of drinks, or our bill.

Was very disappointed with the food. The caesar salad was very dry with very little parmesan and almost no flavor - even after asking for and adding an extra side of dressing. The prawn linguine was tasteless. Very little flavor in the pesto like sauce and the shrimp were bland with no taste. We had been to Mona's a few times before, but after this experience we will never be back.

Service was lackadaisical, at best. Food was terrible. New York Steak, ordered medium rare, came out medium-well. They took it back and the next one came out rare. Both were extremely tough. Mona's used to be one of our favorites, but now it seems to have turned into primarily a jazz and hip hop club. The waiter confirmed that there's not much business until 9 or 10pm. Don't bother going for the food or ambiance.

We arrived early, so we really didn't need a reservation. I felt that the food was quite good, and would recommend the braised ribs. I have to be on a gluten-free diet, and they accommodated that easily. However, my partner' s lamb pasta was only mediocre. I understand they have jazz at 10 o'clock, and I plan to return for that.

  • Very poor experience!!

I must say...this used to be one of my favorite restaurants...I have eaten here well over 30 times, but not in the last 10 years. It has definitely taken a turn for the worse. The first problem was no heat on a night when it was below freezing outside. This meant eaten with your coat on...not a good experience. And, they didn't even acknowledge it. At least tell us that the heater is broken. Then their "signature" sliders with homemade pork sausage wasn't even cooked (and I took 2 full bites!)! Then their chicken cacciatorie had so may capers in iti it was ridiculous!! And, they didn;t have the wine we wanted (which was on their wine list). In the end, we got a lame smile and thats it. I won't be going back.

Apart from some unruly children, the only slight I have against the restaurant was the heating problem. Their heater had issues so the interior was colder than normal dining halls. On the plus side, the food was great. We'd visit again during the summer if we're in the neighborhood.

Nearly empty when we arrived at 5:30. There were no interior lights on and the back half of the eating area was too dark to read a menu, so we opted to sit next to the only other guests at the window. We joked that they may not have paid their electric bill. After the sun set, another customer arrived and asked if they could turn on some lights. They turned on spotlights on the wall artwork. Their was one frantic bartender trying to serve all the tables. Took a while to get our order placed, but the food was good. We did ask for salt. The first salt shaker was half full of rock-hard salt. Asked for a second and it was apparently left over from someone's first class flight in 1982. A mini shaker with about 20 granules of salt.

the food was very good as usual, the music was way to loud but we were aware of their noise level before we went, and still went for the food lighting was very poor you could not see the menu, we and others were trying to use the small candles to see the menu until they finally turned on some small lights

Soo... this place was just ok. I can't quite remember what I had, which is unfortunate since that is one way I recommend restaurants to people. I think the phone was good, but not for the price.
