"First and last meal in this place. Salad was wilted and soggy, sea bass entree was so salty and dry that it was inedible and was returned uneaten, not that the waiter would know or care, since he only came back to the table after serving us to bring us the check. I thought I had booked a table at a 4 or 5-star restaurant, but though the entree prices averaged $30, the food was terrible and the service was cafeteria style. Too bad, the decor and view are pretty. My recommendation: book elsewhere."

"My guests were running late and I had to push our reservation back an hour. The hostesses were happy to help. While waiting we went to the bar to have a couple drinks. Atmosphere was on point. The bartenders were in top of their game. The server was slow. He never seemed to be around until we were his last table, then service picked up.The salads were terrible, I don't like a lot of dressing but zazas caesar was non existent. The steaks were luke warm at best but prepared correctly.The sides were delicious but luke warms as well. The steak toppings and desserts were delicious and well prepared."

"WHEN WE ARRIVED, AROUND 11:25 A.M. DANIEL THE VALET PERSON WAS WARM & FRIENDLY. MY WIFE WAS VERY EXCITED TO SEE OUTSIDE DINING FOR LUNCH. ALTHOUGH SHE HAD A HARD TIME FINDING A TABLE WITHOUT THE FANS BLOWING DIRECTLY ON HER. AFTER PLAYING MUSICAL CHAIRS, SHE SELECTED A TABLE CLOSE TO THE DOOR UNDERNEATH THE FANS. THE WAITER CAME OVER TO THE ORDER. WE ASKED HER NAME & WHAT WOULD SHE RECOMMEND? SHE SUGGESTED THE TEXAS PUNCH. THEY DID NOT HAVE A BARTENDER AND WE WERE TOLD THEY WOULD DO THEIR BEST. OUR FRIEND ORDERED A SHOT OF TEQUILA WITH A SPLASH OF CRANBERRY & PINEAPPLE JUICE W/SALT ON THE RIM & A PIECE OF LIME. THE SALT & LIME NEVER SHOWED UP. THE FOOD WAS RATHER EXPENSIVE. $17 APPETIZER, WHICH WASN'T VERY TASTY. VERY DISAPPOINTED."

"Food was excellent - some interesting pairings of protein with sides, for example salmon with greens worked very well. Service was attentive but not intrusive. A definite special (or even not so special) occasion restaurant."

"The kitchen is to be commended for a beautiful chicken tortilla soup. It is beyond perfect, one of the most memorable dishes of the year. If you like having a conversation, don't forget to dine early--Monarch cranks up the music at around 8pm and there's nothing gradual about it."

"Althought we had a good experience, I was expecting more. It was a good hotel dining experieince but I was expecting something over the top and it didn't do it for me. I would reconmend it but not for a special occasion."

"For what I thought was billed as one of Houstons finer dinning experiences, my expectations were not met in anyway. The atmosphere was akin to sitting in a pub bistro, the patio was uninspiring, the service and food were average. For fine dinning I would have expected at least a tablecloth and in the absence of that coasters for your drinks but alas neither. By the end of the night there was water running off the table onto our legs from the sweating glasses. In the end at $75 a head I was underwhelmed."
