We had guests from out of town who wanted to take us out for Sunday brunch. One of us had the French toast & the other three had two of the three variations on eggs benedict (salmon, Canadian bacon, steak). All were very nicely presented and delicious. For brunch, the place was full, so reservations are necessary, maybe more so in good weather. We will definitely return for brunch or dinner, maybe lunch too.

Mon Ami is one of my favorite restaurants and a great "go-to" when my college daughter was back in town it was the only place she wanted to go. The mussels were perfect. Steak frites (mine was a salad instead of the frites) was perfect. The service is nicely balanced - around when you need them but not too much.

We have been to Mon Ami many times and the food has always been excellent. The service Saturday night was very good which is usually the case. The only problem I have with the restaurant is that it is very noisy and apparently there is not a quiet spot anyplace. I had requested a quiet corner table if available. We were given a lovely corner table but in spite of that we could barely hear each other speak. I'm sure we will go there again but not as frequently as some other restaurants.

I try and reserve my 4 and 5 star-rating for places that are superb. I really do enjoy eating at Mon Ami Gabi, but I've found that the more I go the more I feel the food is good and not great. I would absolutely recommend anyone to give this restaurant a whirl. I've never been disappointed, but I've never been blown away either. I will say that on this particular visit, I was a bit disappointed at how tough the halibut (their "special" item for the night) was.

While the food here is always "good", the service is always superior and I dine here often, the same dish ordered on different days for lunch or dinner is never cooked consistently to perfection. For example, trout almondine arrives one day dry, over cooked, no almonds, no brown butter sauce, limp green beans. Next time, (after intervening orders of varying quality), perfection- moist, topped with toasted almonds, warm and juicy. I have found this to be the case with other menu items. Chef needs to keep a tighter rein.

From start to finish the lunch experience was awful. I accidentally made the reservation for two instead of five, so it took a bit of time to put a table together for our party....this is totally understandable. Once we were seated, we waited 15 minutes for a server to arrive, but nobody showed up. Someone from our party finally went to the server station to ask for a waiter. Needless to say, things went downhill from there. A long wait for the food, the check, nothing went right.

Actually, not so impressed. It's a chain and the one is Bethesda is far better. I had a lobster shell and waxed paper in the last few bites of my Lobster Roll. I told the wait staff, and he said he'd mention it to the chef. Normally, that would be an apology, at minimum, from the manager. I did not chip my tooth, nor did I swallow the lobster shell or wax paper...but it's completely unacceptable. I don't even get lobster shell or wax paper into my lobster rolls when I make them at home.

Dinner without kids on Sunday evening. Impromtu date with table reserved though Open Table provided immediate seating. Would have waited an extra 15 minutes to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather, but were time-limited. 50% off bottled wine on Sundays (did not know about this ahead of time) made dinner a great deal. Can take the unfinished bottle home - but we finished it off prior to leaving. Outstanding service - our waiter was very good with the table and wine service. Wife was impressed with the gluten-free menu. Don't care for the style of potatoes (more or less French fries) with the steak, but it is supposed to resemble a French bistro. Overall nice restaurant with great service.

Our service was excellent, and we especially enjoyed that bread and a yummy carrot slaw came just a couple of minutes after we were seated. The back room where we dined was rather lackluster, with no windows or view of the more interesting main dining room. Not too many offerings for pescatarians (their specialty is beef, so that's understandable), although the tuna nicoise was very nice. Too much finishing salt, however; it would have been more enjoyable without the salt. Same for the arctic char, though the farro was yummy underneath it and the sauce just right.

This trip was a business lunch and my wife and I have had date nights at Mon Ami Gabi as well. Every time I go I comment on what great food and service they have. The prices are competitive (for the area) and the waiters are the best in the area. The only complaint I have is the restaurant just isn't large enough for the number of tables they have or the designer didn't anticipate how loud it can get. I suppose that makes them victims of their own success because it's always pretty full. One more thing... did I mention the outstanding food and service? Catch a pajama brunch there if you can - it's quite an experience to be in your PJ's in such a nice establishment. It's proof they don't take themselves too seriously.

Mon Ami Gabi is a chain restaurant a step above the norm. The food is good to very good. I was with a party of four and every one had something different. The fish courses were very good and the filet mignon was excellent. The pork chop was also very good. The tables are a little close together for me and the noise level a bit loud. All in all, a credible french styled restaurant.

This place is very hit or miss and they missed this time. Service was polite and professional but very slow, perhaps in part because of the kitchen, but it also took forever to get the check. Our food was just OK. The beef wellington was cooked perfectly but it's flavor was bland; likewise with the chicken liver mousse appetizer. The fish special, skipjack with gazpacho sauce, was more flavorful, but the fish was a little undercooked for my taste, though by no means raw. We skipped dessert.

Service was slow, our server did not seem attentive enough, seemed to be rushing. The steak which is suppose to be the house specialty, was tough, and a Ruby Tuesday steak would have been better and better priced. Chicken was good, trout was ok. Appetizer pate was so-so. House pino blanc was flat. left without dessert and a cup of cappuccino with 1 glass of wine with a bill over $100. Expensive.
