Dinner without kids on Sunday evening. Impromtu date with table reserved though Open Table provided immediate seating. Would have waited an extra 15 minutes to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather, but were time-limited. 50% off bottled wine on Sundays (did not know about this ahead of time) made dinner a great deal. Can take the unfinished bottle home - but we finished it off prior to leaving. Outstanding service - our waiter was very good with the table and wine service. Wife was impressed with the gluten-free menu. Don't care for the style of potatoes (more or less French fries) with the steak, but it is supposed to resemble a French bistro. Overall nice restaurant with great service.

Our service was excellent, and we especially enjoyed that bread and a yummy carrot slaw came just a couple of minutes after we were seated. The back room where we dined was rather lackluster, with no windows or view of the more interesting main dining room. Not too many offerings for pescatarians (their specialty is beef, so that's understandable), although the tuna nicoise was very nice. Too much finishing salt, however; it would have been more enjoyable without the salt. Same for the arctic char, though the farro was yummy underneath it and the sauce just right.

This trip was a business lunch and my wife and I have had date nights at Mon Ami Gabi as well. Every time I go I comment on what great food and service they have. The prices are competitive (for the area) and the waiters are the best in the area. The only complaint I have is the restaurant just isn't large enough for the number of tables they have or the designer didn't anticipate how loud it can get. I suppose that makes them victims of their own success because it's always pretty full. One more thing... did I mention the outstanding food and service? Catch a pajama brunch there if you can - it's quite an experience to be in your PJ's in such a nice establishment. It's proof they don't take themselves too seriously.

We tried two of the specials -- Mahi Mahi and the braised beef with spinach. They were outstanding. We are noticing however that portions at this restaurant are getting much smaller for the same price and that is a concern.

Mon Ami Gabi is a chain restaurant a step above the norm. The food is good to very good. I was with a party of four and every one had something different. The fish courses were very good and the filet mignon was excellent. The pork chop was also very good. The tables are a little close together for me and the noise level a bit loud. All in all, a credible french styled restaurant.

This place is very hit or miss and they missed this time. Service was polite and professional but very slow, perhaps in part because of the kitchen, but it also took forever to get the check. Our food was just OK. The beef wellington was cooked perfectly but it's flavor was bland; likewise with the chicken liver mousse appetizer. The fish special, skipjack with gazpacho sauce, was more flavorful, but the fish was a little undercooked for my taste, though by no means raw. We skipped dessert.

Service was slow, our server did not seem attentive enough, seemed to be rushing. The steak which is suppose to be the house specialty, was tough, and a Ruby Tuesday steak would have been better and better priced. Chicken was good, trout was ok. Appetizer pate was so-so. House pino blanc was flat. left without dessert and a cup of cappuccino with 1 glass of wine with a bill over $100. Expensive.

I have eaten here before and thought it was usually good. But this time was disappointed. It s noisy and when full has so many tables jammed in. The waiter made the best of it and she seemed harried and rushed. They were out of their special by 8 pm on a Saturday. The food wss salty and I think the menu is tired at this point. Seemed like a chain restaurant maybe because it is!

This restaurant is hugely popular but not a good value. Food and drinks are expensive as in fine dining, but the atmosphere can be almost circus-like/pub-like/sports bar-like. Friday night we could barely get to our table, due to people from other tables standing in the aisles socializing and little kids wandering around. Ten minutes after we got there the table next to us was surprised by 2 friends in disguise with much raucous laughter. My husband and I had one cocktail each (very small), each had a salad and an entree, but no wine or dessert or coffee and the bill was over $100 before tax and tip. The lighting was very dim (people were using cell phone lights to read the menu) on an early evening when it was still sunny outside.

1st time for us. Parking in the Reston location is a bit difficult, so figure on a garage and a little walk. We were greeted very pleasantly and seated promptly. Bread and French onion soup were delic, the steaks were mediocre and service was shaky. Entre served before we finished our soup and had to be sent back to kitchen to hold. Nice design, but pretty loud. We would try again, maybe for lunch.

My guests and I were delighted to find that Mon Ami Gabi extended their brunch to Labor Day Monday. That gave us a chance to order the blueberry French toast, the Nutella waffle, and the bananas foster waffle, which won hands-down. We arrived early, since I've experienced high noise levels when the restaurant is full, but it wasn't a problem this time. Best of all, we weren't rushed at all--but our server was always at hand when we needed him. Aside from the tiny blueberries being a tad bitter, we had no complaints--and many compliments!

We always enjoy Mon Ami Gabi, but last few visits have been seated at a table in aisle placement in very tight quarters. It was at least 15 minutes before drink orders were taken even though bread and water arrived immediately. Our server apparently had too many tables we rarely saw him. Ordered wine and received incorrect label. Noise level was unbearable... Impossible to hear table companions. Will say it was raining and outside service unavailable, so very crowded inside. Food super as always. Recommend eating outside if possible! Wish they could do something about the noise level.

We've dined at Mon Ami Gabi 4 times. This is the first time we cannot honestly give a top-notch review. While the steak bordelaise and the salmon were really good, the service and dessert were not. The servers only came to our table to take our orders, refill our water and deliver our food. We felt ignored for most of the time we sat there waiting a very long time to get our food and an even longer time to get dessert. Not once did anyone come over to ask how we were enjoying our meal or if we needed anything else. Usually, the wait staff clears the bread crumbs off the table before dessert is served. Not this time. Also, the profiteroles usually come as 4 small pastries. This time, it looked like a 4 scoop Big Mac. Not a good presentation.

Took my daughter to Mon Ami Gabi for lunch. We both ordered Egg du Jour. It was very good, though less than excellent (my daughter felt the egg was a little overdone). Still the restaurant is really an excellent place, with superb wine and bread, and it melted my heart when it brought an excellent profiterole for my daughter as a gift, once they found out that it was her birthday. I'll confess, I'm a regular at Mon Ami Gabi. Why? Well, I consistently enjoy great service and delicious food! Normally, I'm happy with escargot, a salad, and Vouvray, and I try the specials from time to time. Unfortunately, I hadn't seemed to make it there on a Wednesday for the Plat du Jour, which is braised beef short ribs...until this week. Dear lord is that good...and while the portion isn't super sized by any means, I could have eaten half of it and been fine. No. That meal was so delicious that I ate it all! I was so full, I could have rolled home, but I was one happy patron. Go on Wednesday and order the ribs...trust me.

Bread was good, but I had to eat it with my hands since it was served whole. We ordered the onion soup: cheesey, salty, bread-laden and good. I wasn't thrilled with the Brie appetizer. It was a chunk of warm brie, with rubbery "croutons," honey strewn everywhere, and burn whole hazelnuts. I just wasn't sure how to eat it; I ended up having to use my hands to assemble bites together. I ordered the steak frites (peppercorn, medium temp). The steak was AWESOME---really flavorful, tenderized, very good. The fries however, were brittle and awkward (had to use hands again). For desert, the bread pudding was fine, but overly sweet. Creme brulee was good. I didn't like that I had to use my hands so much for a fancy french dinner!
