A word from Mon Ami Gabi - Reston
Mon Ami Gabi is a classic French bistro and steakhouse. The traditional menu features classics such as the warm Onion Soup Au Gratin, Frisée & Bacon Salad with a soft-poached egg and croutons, Roast Chicken grand-mère style with mushrooms, bacon and pearl onions, as well as the trademark Steak Frites. At lunch, we offer lighter fare including crepes, quiches and seasonal salads. Come in Saturday and Sunday for our weekend brunch, featuring a Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary Bar.
To complement the cuisine, an extensive selection of over 80 boutique French wine varietals are served by the glass or bottle from our signature rolling wine cart.

  • "We asked for a "quiet" corner table - they put us in a corner next to 2 friends who gave us their life histories, laughed and we could not even have a discussion or hear one another. We had a nice dinner - shrimp, pate, wine and steak. Really nice and staff came by frequently to see we were OK. I did hate that the assistant waiter took plates off the table as soon as they were empty - I had not finished my dinner but my hubby had - off went the plates- kind of like - hurry up lady! There was NO ONE waiting for our table it - the loud ladies were still at it when we left! For what we spent, quiet would have been nice and clearing the table from dinner before I was done - in my house that is a NO NO! Oh, and they never mentioned our Ann!"

  • "The escargot & mussels muniere apetizers were very nice, as was the fresh, hot french bread. I had a very nice glass of Cotes du Rhone. For the main course, we had the sea bass special, which was nicely done & flavorful, and the steak frites bordelaise. The steak was nicely cooked, with a flavorful topping of carmelized onions, but the frites were largely rubbery & a little greasy. Perhaps they had been cooked & then sat waiting while the steak was prepared. We waited over an hour (from when we sat down) for our main course, but the restaurant acknowledged their mistake, and graciously treated us to the apetizers & dessert. Given their graciousness and the quality of the main food items, I'd go back and give it another try."

  • "If you like Steak Frites, this is your place. They have a wide array of sauces for your steak, au poive, bordelaise, bernaise, dijon, and calssique hotel butter. The frites are thinly sliced potato strips more than fries. There are plenty of them. We had the escargot which was very good to start and then a couple of the steak frites. Nice childrens menu including french pizza which was well enjoyed. Paper covering the tables provides ample drawing material. Wait staff friendly and helpful. Don't ever get complaints when we are in the town center to go there. Fresh warm baguette brought to the table with butter upon seating. Very yummy bread, some of the best french bread around. The waiter was awkward and went through the specials and taking our orders very abruptly. We were surprised at how quickly the food came, as we were still enjoying the baguette, but everything was tasty and we had plenty of time to wander around the town center afterwards, since our dinner finished so fast."

The only blemis on the night was that my m-i-l ordered a 2nd glass of wine that never came. At the end of the evening, the server realized what had happened, and took the 1st glass of wine off the bill as well as the 2nd that had never showed."

  • "My girlfriend and I got engaged after dinner the other night at the restaurant and the staff were most accommodating and made the evening very special. I had called ahead to reserve a booth and to order a special dessert which the Sous Chef personally delivered to the table; a plate with "will you marry me?" written in chocolate sauce along with La Grande Profiterole. The Manager, Kelsey Fettig, was very gracious, came to our table to congratulate us, took our picture and made us feel very special. The wine and food were excellent and served in a timely manner by our server, Rich, who did a fantastic job. The whole evening was spectacular!!"

  • "Stopped there for a birthday lunch and although our waiter was at first professional and friendly, he didn't stay consistent. The food was disappointing. Ordered the salmon and it was well done and dry. The waiter noticed that I barely touched the dish so he asked and I told him it is overdone and the peas were burnt and dry as well. He agreed and offered to take it off the bill but he never did. Ordered desserts and although he knew it was my birthday, there was not even a single candle or a friendly wish. Apparently the $20 birthday card I received and used on the bill must have annoyed him. This location is not that special and reminded us why we don't go there anymore."

  • "We (my wife, I and some friends) have been to Mon Ami Gabi quite many times. Usually we were quite satisfied. However this time our impressions were mixed: 1. On the positive side, the gazpacho was excellent. 2. The crepe with Bavarian cream was good. 3. On the negative side we were strongly disappointed with the seafood served to us: a) crab cakes (two people had them) were too salty, to much patted down to a flat pancake, greasy and fried quite hard. b) caramelized scallops were very very salty. Not tasty and not healthy. 4. The espresso coffee was not good. Conclusion: Whoever cooked our seafood that evening (06/20/2014) was clearly not a master chef."

My entre, scallops, was tasty but not filling. Four small scallops is not an entree. Service was lacking. Waitress forgot my drink. Offered no service recovery when I mentioned the entree was inadequate. My wife's steak, ordered medium rate was bright red. Potatoes they came with were odd at best. No gluten free options for dessert."

  • "Mon Ami Gabi is my family's go-to-place for special events and regular family dinners on a Friday or Saturday night! The food is always good; and the service is great! There are different "Plats du Jour" or "Dishes of of the Day" that are served in addition to the everyday menu, so everyone can find something they like! I suggest the Steak au Poivre for newbies and regulars alike! It's my favorite dish; and it never disappoints! The portions are pretty large; but each dish is cooked very well. Give it a try!"

  • "My husband and I go to the restaurant for so many time. Our server was excellent. She gave us an outstanding service. We ordered smoked salmon as an appetizer. It was delicious. My husband order lamb Tbone(medium rare) his enter cooked perfected. I ordered hey York strip(medium rare) it came out medium well. I had to send my steak back. The server told me that chef prepared another steak for me. 30 mins later I haven't received my new steak yet. By that time I felt like my appitize had gone I told the server to cancelled my order the manager stop by and apologize to me for over cooked steak Thanks to the manager (Bryan whitford) he was a very nice manager he kept appologize. I tole him it was ok"

  • "My husband and I went to Mon Ami Gabi for the first time on a Tuesday evening, and sat outside. We both ordered the steak frites with Bernaise sauce and were remarked at how wonderful the steak was! Super tender, perfectly cooked, and their fries are ultra thin and crispy, absolutely delicious. Wines by the glass were reasonably priced, and our salads were excellent, as well. Will definitely be back."
