Diner Reviews
  • "The wine list is extensive. The food is excellent. I had the salmon. It was wonderful. Our wait staff could not do enough to make the evening pleasurable It was a great dining experience. I would certainly make a return visit.."

  • "I have not been to Mon Ami Gabi for years, and I regret not patronizing it more. It is on the outside rim of Oakbrook Mall, and offers a perfect destination for meeting friends and sharing fine food. Bellinis, Champagne, mimosas and Blood Mary Bar make brunch or a luncheon festive. Crunchy French bread and delightful French food make the meal a treat. Bananas Foster and profiteroles are just two of the excellent desserts. The room is enchanting, calling to mind a French bistro. Outdoor dining is seasonally available."

  • "I had been here before. This night I introduced my husband to the experience. He was delighted with the choices of foods, the wine list, and the courteous service. As usual, my meal was an exquisite dining delight."

  • "My two children (ages 24 and 14) brought Dad here for his birthday dinner. The food was delicious! We're a family that likes to try bites of each others food when we are trying new foods. My daughter ordered the frisee salad and skate wing entree. The skate wing was very good - soft, creamy texture, not fishy at all (and I'm not a fish person!) My husband has a roasted bone-in chicken entree, and again, excellent. I had the beef bourguignon and wasn't disappointed. Amazingly tender cubes of beef with carrots and pearl onions... oh,yum! The onion soup gratin was the best I've ever had. Service was wonderful, food great, definitely will be going back. Parents note: No chicken tenders here. Kids need to be adventurous eaters."

  • "We needed a place to meet with 2 other people who were at other ends of the Chicagoland area. Fun and easy to get to."

  • "Food with a French design is beautifully presented and delicious. The week-end brunches have a nice variety of options that go from egg and crepe dishes to heartier fare. Whether you choose the week-end delight or prefer a more traditional lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed. Parking is tight but available if you don't mind a short walk and valet is always an option. Reservations are the best way to go as they tend to be booked early and often. They do close between lunch and dinner for 2 hours."

  • "We love the onion soup and a full order of the mussels/frites ( to split). The mussels and sauce are fabulous. It is a great place for lunch or dinner."

  • "Not because we were a rowdy group of women, but he "remembered" the wine he had recommended when we were there the month before and we had loved it (or at least we all pretended he did and had another memorable lunch!). Wait staff was very respectful of our mission to not only have lunch, but catch up with each other and enjoy a book discussion. Waiter even had a recommendation for a film to go along with our book selection. We were not rushed, arrived at 1:30 and closed down the place!"

  • "* My husband & I had been looking forward to a quiet and long overdue "Date Night". * Our wonderful waiter (Christophe~sp?) saw that we were looking forward to a leisurely evening & did not rush us in the least (tables around us "flipped" twice); he was extremely attentive yet not at all intrusive ... our waiter, that is (although my husband was also very attentive)! * The following day, both my husband & I commented that, each of us had thought about the lovely evening we had enjoyed the night before! * We had not just eaten at MonAmiGabi/Oakbrook ... we "dined"!"

  • "We eat here often and are never disappointed. The food is great! Being a vegetarian, I often make up my own veggie platter and it is always great. And, our waitress Bonnie is a real gem. She is one of the best!!!!"

  • "My grown daughter and I enjoyed everything about our dinner at Mon Ami Gabi. Our waitress recommended the steak merlot and it was outstanding. We shared the white chocolate bread pudding and agreed with our waitress that it was the best dessert ever. We were early for our reservation so enjoyed delicious baked brie at the bar."

  • "I've eaten here many times. This time both my wife and I had the French onion soup which is very good. She found a bay leaf in it. She had the steak frites which is also quite good. I had the special Halibut wrapped in bacon which was just tasteless. Also found a bay leaf under the bacon when I realized I was chewing on it.I believe a bay leaf is inedible and should be removed before serving a dish. Had an espresso but found the sweeteners were all soggy. Soggy as unusable. Bathroom had no music except for the constant running of the toilet. Third visit resulting in disappointment. Used to be good. Now it just seems nobody cares."

  • "This is the second year that we have gone there for a family birthday and it is always a pleasant experience. We have two young children and the staff always makes us feel welcome. The food is great and is good quality French Bistro. Great flavors with an appropriate amount of comfort. We will be back."

  • "The service was outstanding. Our waitress was attentive and well informed. There were 5 of us and we all agreed every meal was delicious. The baked brie appetizer with walnuts was a standout. Everything from salad to our warm chocolate cake dessert was exceptional."

  • "accept they speak English. We were welcomed and are table was waiting for us. They made a point to provide a corner table (without us requesting) and wish us a Happy Anniversary (they obviously pay attention to the notes in the reservation). Our waitreess Bonnie was pleaseant, and knowlegable. Provided excellent service without hovering. But what was extra and unexpected, was gentleman who worked the area while she was busy. He masde sure the table was just so throught the evening. They made a great team. We went because of the wonderful lunch we experienced on a trip to the Las Vegas location, and we were not disappointed."

  • "The highlights of their menu never disappoint. Steak Frites is always the way to go, and the warm flourless chocolate cake is to die for."

  • "My family loves Mon Ami Gabi for many reasons...the food is fantastic, the quality is outstanding and it is a terrific value. The menu is big enough to satisfy the pickiest of eaters, while the more adventurous can enjoy the delicious French fare. We visit this Oakbrook location quite often, whether for a birthday celebration, the New Year's Day PJ Brunch (so much fun!), or just a night out after a movie. It really has all of it's bases covered. You can enjoy it as a romantic dinner, a ladie's lunch or a family celebration place and be confident that all will enjoy, and the atmosphere will be the right setting for your party. We look forward to going back soon!"

  • "Then come to Mon Ami Gabi. If there's one place that mimics a Parisian cafe/brasserie perfectly, it's here, right in Oak Brook. From the fashionable Parisian cozy ambiance to the eclectic menus attention to detail, to the appearance and taste of the food, to the friendly yet efficient staff - everything says PARIS, only without the expenditures of traveling there. I have them send texts to my phone with offers, which are a few times per month, and a great deal. The one we used was a free Tapenade with ricotta and toast appetizer. Delicious! The white chocolate bread pudding is back on the menu and it's out-of-this world! One word of caution - if you know you'll be dining here, make a reservation. They're often busy, esp weekend lunches."

  • "Food was excellent. Had the scallops with butternut squash puree and mushrooms."

  • "The food was delicious just wish there was a little more of it. One of those places that for the price you can still leave a little hungry. I did have the fish special so that could be why. It was delicious though."

  • "Enjoyed a lovely meal. Our waiter Robery was very friendly and half price champagne was a nice addition. I will definitely return."

  • "we made plans to meet old friends for dinner. we wanted to catch up but with the noise level it was hard. we were given a table right by the kitchen door. as odd as it may sound they were out of beef wellington at 6:00PM and it was the special of the night. next they were out of chicken breast for their signature chicken special. we were in shock. the arugula salad did not have any arugula in it. it was filled with some spiky lettuce. the name escapes me. so, we all had scallops. they were very good. the mgt comped us on the salads when we complained. desert was very good. the service was fine for a busy night."

  • "Excellent menu and a nice, quiet, and lovely setting."

  • "This was a birthday celebration for my 9 year old son. I put that information into the reservation and the staff did nothing to make it special. I even told the server that my son studies French which is the reason for going to mon Ami Gabi. Again it was not acknowledged. Food was awesome but overall I thought the staff was stiff, and a tad bit snooty. Perhaps the Lincoln park location is more friendly."

  • "We had another great meal at Mon Ami Gabi. Their gluten free menu makes it easy to order something wonderful and the desserts are great. I have never had a Flourless Chocolate cake that was so light and delicious."

  • "Took my family for my husband's birthday. My 14 year old daughter actually picked this restaurant, and my husband seconded it. Ambiance is great - French bistro, energetic, crowded but not overly so, very attractive. Food was excellent, all 3 courses. Mostly adult dining, but appeals to all ages. My daughter's middle school French class went each year for lunch. Like most Lettuce Entertain You restaurants, a great experience. Not cheap, but prices in line with the area."
