My date and I each order a different fish dish; I ordered the salmon, and she ordered the Grouper. They were both done well, and the sauces with which they came were well flavored without dominating. We also ordered the escargot as an appetizer, along with the hot fresh breadroll, which was a delicious combination, as the escargot was heavily flavored with a green pestoish sauce. The service was attentive without being overbearing, helpful, and courteous. Our waiter, friendly and informative, was helpful in suggesting a wine that went well with my wife's fish dish and my entrée which was one of their specials that evening, three beef medallions wrapped in bacon and served with fried potatoes and served with green beans. Although he encouraged us to take our time, he seemed to be interested in taking our order. We also ordered the three cheese selection appetizer which was very good. We arrived early for our reservation and planned to sit at the bar, but it is very small so seats are at a premium. We both had variations on the steak, which was cooked perfectly. There was only thing that was off putting. I was running late so I called ahead, gave my ETA and asked if there would be a problem. She was very polite and reassuring. When I arrived my first face to face contact with your staff was a young man standing at the podium by the front door who told me I was late after he finished his personal phone call. He said nothing else as he seated us. We were disappointed in the serving of the bread. While the bread was warm, crusty and delicious, a knife and cutting board would have been nice. Also, the souffle was just placed on the table for us to serve ourselves. Yes, it is in a mall which stinks, but it is in Oak Brook so you will either be in a mall, a stripe mall or alone mall like building. Although parking is annoying, the valet is a measly $4.00. Fast and efficient. The service her is great, the wine list is very good for being relatively small, the food consistently good, and the prices more than acceptable.
Overall we go, we go pretty often and we walk away happy, full and satiated.
