  • "My friend and I had not seen one another in months so this was the perfect spot to catch up. Had outdoor table and no one rushed us so we ended up staying 3 hrs! I kept asking if they needed the table and they assured us we were fine. We so appreciate it. Loved the lobster roll and writes and the wine and Bellini were yummy as well. I'll definitely go back."

  • "Excellent specials are available as well as the standard menu. Sunday Brunch often has wonderful fish specials as well as a wide range of egg and other more traditional breakfast items. Parking on Sundays is easier on the earlier end as the mall opens later. If you prefer lunch or dinner items the food is prepared beautifully--we have never been disappointed. Just don't ask for Cheddar Cheese if you decide to have the excellent Cheeseburger."

  • "My husband and I sat on outdoor patio. It was small but secluded by flowering plants all around. Food & service was great as usual."

  • "Unfortunately, we were not impressed. We usually have a very good experience but were disappointed with this dinner. The mussels took a long time to come out which would not be a big deal except our steaks came while eating thr mussels. The waiter asked if he should hold them but I do not want them under a heat lamp while we finish the mussels. The mussels are not good to eat cold. Unfortunately my steak was charred on the outside while it was cooked to medium. Overall I was disappointed. I am not sure that we will be returning as we have had more than 2 dinners consecutively which were not good."

  • "The food was excellent. Chicken Gran Mere recommended by server, best chicken ever eaten in a restaurant. Steak Bordelaise done to perfection. Server was very attentive and fun. Wonderful ambiance for an anniversary dinner for two! Will definitely return!"

  • "The food was average, as was the service. Our server disappeared for quite a long time when it was time to order. She didn't offer up any specials on the menu until I asked. My salmon was adequate, but nothing special."

  • "Good food but service was slow. Had to ask for bread at start of meal, and there were what seemed to be extra long wait times between courses. The only dish that we were disappointed with as the mashed cauliflower that was tasteless and extremely bland. Otherwise, friendly restaurant."

  • "Our service, food, waiter, bus-boy, were all phenomenal & attentive, professional AND friendly in every way. It was an "off the charts" experience for us. We will, for sure, return again & again."

  • "Mon Ami Gabi is a favorite place to dine with special people. It is intimate and cozy and very different from the busy hustle and bustle and noise of so many of the other brand restaurants."

  • "Last year, for our 25th wedding anniversary, we were in France. This year, we dined at a french restaurant. My husband & I decided that we were coming back before we had even been served our meal. The ambience was very nice, our server Keith was knowledgable, patient and kind and the manager, Matt, was attentive & generous as well! Our meal was superb, as were the appetizers and drinks. My 22 oz bone in rib eye was cooked to PERFECTION, and was one of the most delicious steaks this girl has EVER had! To top things off, our server brought us dessert for our celebration! We WILL be coming back to this restaurant, I mean when your treated this sweetly, who wouldn't!!"

  • "I went to Mon Ami Gabi on Sunday for my anniversary. We went late (8:30pm), which may have been the problem since they close at 9:00pm on Sundays. The restaurant did not have many people dining at that time, but they proceeded to put us at a table next to a large and very noisy group. They clearly were cleaning up the dining areas and didn't want us in the area's that were already cleaned. Other than that, the food was very good and the service was also very good. I will be back again, but next time I will make sure that it isn't near closing time."

  • "We eat at Gabi pretty regularly. The service and the food are consistently top notch. We all have our favorite dishes and we always leave more in love with the place than when we came in. For those afraid of French food, give it a try. The prices aren't exorbitant and the quality is superb. I always look forward to our visits here!"

  • "Can count on Mon Ami for that touch of French cuisine in metro Chicago. Lunch menu is limited but you can count on fresh and tasty food especially if you crave crepes. Would skip the appetizers if you are not into pate or snails."

  • "The steaks do not disappoint. Sauces are superb. Frites are a nice side."

  • "We had a great time. The food was great, but it was our server Wendy that made it special. it was very busy on Father's Day, and the restaurant was out of several dishes and food items, but Wendy was apologetic and very friendly and funny."

  • "Our steak and potatoes arrived cold and fries greecy and soggy. By time a new batch of potatoes came, I had finished our dinner. They need to add a small portion of vegetables to their plates. Both for color and variety."

  • "This was our first experience, and we chose Father's Day. The mall was very busy, but we were delighted by the experience at Mon Ami Gabi. We were not rushed. Our table was in a quiet corner, and we were able to hear eachother speak. Food was excellent. It made our family day together something we won't forget."

  • "We've been going to Mon Ami Gabi since the Oak Brook bistro opened in 2000 and we've never had a negative experience ... until now. First off, one of the things I enjoyed most about the Gabitini martini was the blue cheese-stuffed olives. You could tell the cheese was fresh and had been hand-stuffed. On our most recent visit last Saturday, sadly, the olives had the taste and consistency of store-bought blue cheese-stuffed olives, or in other words, a huge come-down from the previous version. Secondly, my entrée, the halibut with ratatouille, came out from the kitchen lukewarm at best. It was sent back to be re-fired, but even then it was disappointing. We weren't charged for it, but by that time the evening was beyond repair. C'est la vie."

  • "Very good dining experience, food was great and we had excellent service."

  • "The seating is too close together. My husband and I felt like we were seated on top of the people next to us. We were at the two top near the bar. We had to move our table for the lady next to me to get up and down. Our server seemed very busy, but they had many servers standing around the server stations. I think we dined on an off night, because we usually have a very good experience."

  • "When you have a great concept and great food, changing the menu is scary. Mon Ami has kept the memorable and enhanced it with creativity. The service is really focused on surprising flexibility. Really loved it!"

  • "When I have the opportunity to celebrate a special occasion with family or friends I always choose Mon Ami Gabi, both Oakbrook and Lincoln Park. I love the ambience, service and food. Mon Ami Gabi always goes the extra mile to make the celebration very special. It is my favorite place to dine out."

  • "Great place for brunch, a ladies lunch, or dinner with anyone. The food is straightforward with a French flair, always fresh, and delicious. Easily the best place place to eat at the mall."

  • "I will preface this by saying I am 18, but I see that no reason to be treated any less than the rest of the customers at the restaurant. The food was very food, but our waitress only visited the table three times throughout the night, and each time forgot to bring back what we requested. She also did not ask us about beverages until after we had our food because she "forgot". As far as the setting, I always loved the front seated at this location, and I had never been in back except for parties. The back rooms are, well not exciting, the lighting isn't romantic really it's somewhat poor. Also like a stingy basement lighting. I recommend requesting a table near the front of the restaurant. tldr: Good food, iffy service, request front table"

  • "We love Mon Ami Gabi. The food and service are always excellent. We made an early reservation and when we got to our table, we told our server we were going to order an 'eclectic' favorites dinner. I started with a glass of Pouilly Fuisse as I love to do. We ordered a jar of warm olives and each ordered escargot - the bread is fabulous for the escargot! And we each ordered a glass of Gabi Merlot. Then we ordered chocolate mousse for dessert! A wonderful meal!"

  • "I've dined at Mon Ami Gabi more than a few times and generally enjoyed it. Last evening was the most recent time, and may be the last. The food is unexceptional, especially for the price. They continue to alter their menu, removing more enjoyable selections with those much less tasty. For example, why remove the olives appetizer? Anyone who visits France knows olives are almost omnipresent on menus. The bread was different, as well. I can get better from a baguette from the supermarket. The wine selections are uninspired and limited. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I'll look for other French restaurants."

  • "My parents live a mile from OakBrook shopping Center. Out of all the restaurants we eat here the most. Great service, atmosphere and food. There is also a room for private parties which we have used on several occasions. There is a valet service which my parents (who can't walk long distances) appreciate."

  • "We were celebrating with friends for a major anniversary, so we selected Mon Ami and weren't disappointed. Great service from the start and all the way through the meal. I opted for outside, but everyone else wanted the A/C inside. I won but perhaps to the discomfort of the rest. The meal made up for the heat and lack of breeze. Salads, sandwiches and eggs were our selections and everyone had a clean plate at the end of the meal. Lunch was complete when the server brought complimentary profiteroles to the couple. Everyone left with a smile. "

  • "Chose Mon Ami Gabi as there is a consistent warm, welcoming atmosphere and excellent, well-prepared food. My sister and I both enjoyed the entrees - I am a bit fussy and ask for some modifications and she had a seafood special. Everything was delightful, delicious and the server appeared to enjoy her work. Will continue to dine there as opportunity arises - and to recommend it to others."

  • "We went for dinner on a Friday. We had the soup special which was a white bean and tomato puree - very tasty. For dinner, 2 of us had steaks which were outstanding. One of us had the beef bourguignon which was tasty but we thought that the meat was a little too fatty. For dessert (which were all outstanding) we got the chocolate mousse, the warm chocolate cake and the strawberry souffle special. Our server was very helpful with suggestions and was available when we needed her. We will be back for our next special occasion."

  • "A good to very good experience. Service was attentive. Expectations for food in a french bistro were high, but menu selections can be hit or miss. For example, for our party of 5, the food varied-- the trout almondine was bland and tasteless, but the halibut special was excellent; the steak and frites dishes were very good as always, but the salmon on the salmon salad was overcooked and dry. Deserts are a high point."
