The manager insisted that I make a new reservation for that night so I wouldn't lose out on my points.

I have been coming to Chicago at least 2-3 times a year for the past 23 year and rarely ventured off of Michigan Ave and the neigboring Restaurants. The Lincoln Park area is beautifual and Mon Ami Gabi is fantastic. It was like being in a true French Bistro in Paris! I listed the Nise Level as "Energetic" as it was very busy and numerous conversations were flying around the restaurant... but that is what you find in Paris! The food was very well prepared and delicious, and the staff was fabulous! It is our "go-to" for Sunday early dinner when friends are visiting (they open at 5pm). The skate wing is delicious, the oysters are always wonderful, the caesar salad is divine, but it is the Beef Wellington (often on the specials menu) that surpasses them all!!!! C'est magnifique!
The atmosphere is cosy with lots of dark wood in a Paris brasserie style and they have a lovely outdoor area in the summer months. My recent visit to Mon Ami Gabi did not disappoint either - I was with a friend to celebrate her birthday and we both had wonderful dinners and shared a great bottle of wine (fabulous recommendation from our server, since neither of us are great with French wines) and because it was my friend's birthday we were comped to an AMAZING array of desserts! And we have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, service always knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant. Ambiance is what you would expect from a French bistro kind of restaurant, a good wine list AND the BEST profiterole I have had anywhere.
