To complement the cuisine, an extensive selection of over 80 boutique French wine varietals are served by the glass or bottle from our signature rolling wine cart. Guests will enjoy the airy interior with our large French windows opening out onto the Lincoln Park Conservatory, or in the summer months, the lovely outdoor garden.

I brought two friends here for dinner for their birthday. Aside from waiting 30 minutes past the reservation time and that my request for a birthday recognition was not meet, both enjoyed the food and the evening.

Mon Ami Gabi is not new or original but it is authentic in capturing the French bistro one might find in any neighborhood in Paris, right down to the menu. The seafood the night we dined was A-1; skate, trout, cod all in classic preparations francaise. The place was packed and still service was good. And while you are there enjoy the lobby shared by MAG and L2O, possibly the finest restaurant in Chicago, and among the best in the world, but that's a different review.

Mom was very happy with her bday dinner at Mon Ami Gabi...steaks were cooked to perfection complimented by crunchy frites. Trout Amadine was a simple prep with tender fish, nicely toasted almonds and crunchy haricot verts. Great menu, nice wine selections. Try the profiterole for dessert!

Mon Ami Gabi is a reliable spot for a pleasant dinner of the French variety. The menu is varied and the service is very good. Not the spot to choose, however if you are looking for a relaxed meal. Had we not put the breaks on service, we would have been in and out of there in 50 minutes flat, including time for dessert.

The atmosphere is lovely. The French bread is warm and served in a bag. The chicken liver mousse had the consistency of a pate and was good, the gazpacho which was a special for the night was incredibly good. The rest of the meal disappointed. My husband had the pounded cod in bread crumbs and parmesan cheese, and said it was not as good as the fish at Culver's. I had the Salad Nicoise with a seared tuna steak. The potatoes did not taste good, the green beens were wilted, they should have been crunchy and fresh, the required anchovies were missing, the Tuna had some spicing on it that added nothing to the overall flavor, and the tuna had no flavor. It wasn't fresh enough. The profiterole crust was soggy.

Why have we not tried this before? OK, so the decor is très chic and the wait staff knowledgable. Surprise, the menu comes and prices are reasonable. But the food? Magnifique. Best escargot we've ever tasted. Fresh, bright and pass that crusty French bread because there might be some sauce to sop up. Scallops with poached red peppers - perfection. Crusted cod was spot on- great crunch without a heavy oily aftertaste. The touted frites were good not great, so perhaps our batch fell a bit short. And for dessert a profiterole with large shell crust over ice cream and a velvety chocolate sauce poured table side. Great place to linger and we'll be back.

The decoration is very faithful to Paris atmosphere. Bread and food very good. Their specialty is steak with French fries, with a large choice of sauces. The rest of the menu does not offer a lot of typical French plates, like foie gras, which was a little bit disappointing. On the whole, nice experience!

Food and service are great. All the standard bistro selections and wonderful specials (e.g.,Boeuf Wellington on Sundays, Dover Sole on Fridays) High energy level as the bistro fills, but not so loud as to disrupt table conversation. Great wine selection, by-the-glass or bottle. Lovely terrace outdoor seating in season. Good value.

I have been to Mon Ami Gabi many times over the years and have always had a great dining experience. Weather I'm am in a group celebrating a holiday or just dining with a friend I have enjoyed the atmosphere and lovely french cuisine (my favorite!). Last Thursday night I had the pleasure of having one of the best waiters. He was so pleasant and genuine...not that I've ever had a bad experience here. So thankful Mon Ami's is in the neighborhood and I don't have to go all the way downtown.

My husband and I went for dinner Friday night and sat in the outdoor patio section. The patio has a great atmosphere even if the tables are a bit close together. The menu didn't really have anything exciting on it though, while the frisée sale was delicious I think additional menu items could be added, such as the braised short ribs which are a special during the week.

I ate in Mon Ami Gabi in Las Vegas and had a great experience and enjoyable food. I came to the same restaurant in Chicago with a group. Everyone enjoyed the ambiance and thought the restaurant was quite attractive. Much of the food was good. The bread was delicious, Onion soupsenjoyable and house salad very good. Were somewhat disappointed in the pate, it was served cold, was very hard and had no distinct taste probably because it was so cold. The steaks were good but the roast chicken was not crisp and didn't have an intense flavor from being roasted. It was pale and soft in texture. The desserts were very good. The service was rushed and somewhat physically intrusive. It may have been an off day so I would try it again.

I love this restaurant- great ambiance, food is always good! However, this was the first time we did not have the best service. Entrees came out a little cold, most likely because the waitress didn't get them out on time. She did replace the one entree that was cold in not time flat. However, still my favorite place for a special occasion. We will keep coming back!

I'd read about this place and a friend said it was good and would accommodate our (pre-teen ) daughter. She was right, there was a nice kids menu. The bread comes piping hot in a bag w/a side of delicious carrot salad (and butter!). Scallop app was rich and tasty, if you like cheese, order this! The skate was cooked to perfection. Both my daughter & husband had the steak frites and thought they were good. ( classic comes with a heavy dose of a parsley butter on top, so if you are cautious of calories, ask for this on the side ). The house salad was simple but fresh and good. Wines are decently priced. We skipped dessert, but those that we saw looked amazing!! If it's nice, outdoor seating is the way to go
