  • "I have never gone to a restaurant for Passover before. It was recommended by friends and did not disappoint. Every table got their own complete and traditional Seder plate. The menu was traditional, delicious and beautifully presented. The serve staff made a point that we were not going to be rushed and we weren't. We brought our own hagadahs and Manachevitiz but they did offer Passover wine too. There were many other families celebrating at tables nearby. It was the nicest restaurant Passover dinner. Much nicer than hotel holiday meals. They even went to extra mile by giving everyone a handmade almond and coconut extra large macaroon. Very special. "

  • "Food, service and welcoming environment. Always a four star experience. I find the portion to perfect. Not too little and not too huge. Quality of preparation is quite good. Consistently greeted in a pleasant manner. A very nice dining experience. Would highly recommend."

  • "Although it seems to have gotten a bit more expensive lately, this perfectly Located restaurant and Bethesda offers a great menu with delicious food that remains distinct and Bethesda. The restaurant is attractive, the ambience is excellent, and the service is always top notch. A good kids menu makes it family friendly and the outdoor seating is hard to beat."

  • "Nothing but good things to say about our experience at Mon Ami Gabi. Our server was great and the food was delicious. We both had the steak frites (highly recommended for meat lovers.) Will go back again next time we are in the area."

  • "This restaurant has been a frequent destination for us; love the food. However, we were very disappointed with the service this time. The waiter had a DECIDED attitude (yelling the specials and even prices) and seemed he was doing a favor by serving the customers."

  • "Tried to come in for HH but the small bar was full. When i asked the host if we could order our food/drink at the bar and sit outside he was just plain rude and said absolutely NOT!. What a jerk. We took the Open Table reservation and were lead to a very small cramped table. The placed is just too cramped/ loud and if you have odd people next to you, you are screwed with no chance to hear a conversation. Carrot salad and bread - kept us in ok spirits, our waiter came by after a while poured us water and asked our drink order, it took forever to get our drink, we knew what we wanted, and ordered but noticed tables on either side of us that got food before us. Had to get a mgr. involved to get fed. They offered dessert but damage was done."

  • "Mon Ami Gabi is known for it's great food. WIthout a doubt this is their best feature. The Ambiance was lovely and a bit of Base in the backgroung (from the bar area) was nice. The noise level when the restaurant is full, and it's always full, is Loud. You need to speak up to be heard by the person dining across from you. But the service is hit or miss. The manager on staff (Michelle) was suberb. But the server, clearly overwhelmed, was slow and forgetful. At $165 for 3 people, its pricey, but worth a visit by any Foodie."

  • "Had a mid-week business luncheon at Mon Ami Gabi. Our waiter was fabulous...never had to ask for anything yet he wasn't hovering. The tables are close and our "neighbors" were celebrating a birthday, so it was a bit loud. Overall a great experience."

  • "It was fun to be at this restaurant. Lots of interesting things on the menu made it hard to choose. And I loved having a baguette on the table first off."

  • "I chose this place a) for french food b) daughter loves it c) special occasion (birthday). It's not very french, but food thoroughly enjoyable, starting with the bread and butter ( I'd pass on the carrots). An asparagus soup du jour was outstanding. We both had caramelized scallops (cooked to perfection and terrific tasting), and delicious coffee. Our server was the right-amount attentive and friendly. The prices are reasonable (wine by the glass a bit high). No one was dressed for any special occasion, given atmosphere, mostly informal, but no one not too dressed-down (jeans). Would return again."

  • "My husband and I are fans of Mon Ami Gabi, our first date was there and we celebrated a birthday there a few months back. We had an early reservation for brunch and were seated when the dining room was less than half full. Our waiter had only two other tables when we were seated yet he failed to tell us the specials. He took our order and mine was served in whipped cream which I had specifically requested on the side. He never came back to check how our food was. My husband wanted a drink. We had to flag down a busboy who had to go get our waiter and our waiter proceeded to take orders at 2 other tables, ignore our table and leave the dining room."

  • "I went to Mon Ami Gabi with on a double date and had an amazing time! The waiter was respectful and didn't rush us through our dinner/ conversation. The food was absolutely amazing and the wine impeccable! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend."

  • "Loved everything about this place! The bread they give you is sooo good! I had the soup of the day which was a cream of asparagus and was great. Then I had the eggs benedict, and that was probably the best I've ever had! My husband had the bluberry french toast, which was delicous and not overly sweet. My brother ordered a savory bread pudding with eggs, and that tasted amazing as well! Phenomenal food and service. Bring one to Philly!! Thanks!"

  • "Went there with my wife on her birthday. We both ordered the special that night. One was half duck roasted with orange and balsamic glace, the other was a special fish dish (cod) not on the menu. Both were excellent. Desert was a special mango cheese cake not from the menu either. Absolutely delicious. Our waiter was wonderful. He paid attention to small things and was proactive on everything we need. Great service."

  • "For those that understand and appreciate the bistro concept, Mon Ami Gabi represents an excellent rendering of this experience in Bethesda. The menu is traditional bistro fare (escargot, chicken liver pâté, mussels, variations of the classic "steak frites"), all well prepared by a busy kitchen. We experienced outstanding service from our Argentinian waiter, who accommodated multiple requests ranging from tasting wines to modifying an "hors d'oeuvre"! The decor and even the energy level resembled a busy Montparnasse bistro on a Saturday evening. A good effort at authenticity by a restaurant group - if only the mirror menus prominently displaying specials were not merely decorative - but this is easily overlooked and we are sure to return!"

  • "We've eaten numerous times at Mon Ami Gabi, and look forward to returning several more. The food is consistently excellent, the steaks are perfectly done to spec, and once you've eaten dessert there once, you'll always find a space for them no matter how full you are. The service is impeccable - professional, courteous and attentive without ever being over-bearing. The place is nearly always full for good reason - it's one of the few genuinely high-quality dining experiences in Bethesda right now."

  • "We booked for a late Monday night dinner and it was not crowded at all. There were two other tables with guests but towards the end of our meal, it looked like we had the restaurant to ourselves after the other people left. Service was excellent. Very romantic setting and the noise level was very low. We had the Caramelized sea scallops which was excellent. We will definitely come back."

  • "I always have the steak frites as I used to have in France. This is like a good French bistro. Excellent service and very good food. Only complaint is the loud ambiance. They should spend some money sound-proofing it."

  • "My husband and I decided to go to Mon Abi Gabi for our special date night and it was the best decision we could have made to give ourselves the fabulous treat of enjoying each others company with such great food, wine and service. We were seated promptly as we reached the restaurant and were served with toasty warm bread (GF for me!). Our server was extremely courteous, knowledgeable and warm. He helped us pick items to order from the menu in a very nice and friendly way. The food arrived within 10 minutes of placing the order and my, it was delicious! The desserts didn't disappoint either. Overall, i think this is one of the finest restaurants in DC metro area and i will most definitely go back and also recommend it to my friends."

  • "Have never been disappointed by a visit here. Even when busy food and service consistently excellent. We brought an out of town visitor here last week and he loved the place. We took him to a well known up market Washington DC restaurant for lunch the next day and it was terrible, thank goodness he had such a great meal the night before. We return time and time again to you for a quick casual lunch after a morning movie or leisurely dinner for a lovely night out as a couple or in a group, we will not be visiting the DC restaurant again... ever! Please don't ever change we love you! Please never take the flourless chocolate cake off the menu!"

  • "Sunday brunch is a time to relax and catch up. The menu was varied with traditional egg dishes to quiche, crepes and salads. this menu also included sandwiches and entrees. We had to have the steak and frittes. the steak was cooked perfect (med-rare and med) and the frittes were crispy and flavorful. the steak was moist and flavorful. we added a seasonal salad with roasted butternut squash, good combination of sweet, savory and crunch. Brunch featured a make you own Bloody Mary station. Great variety of mix ins and garnishes. the house mix was good. parking is scarce, a garage is nearby but even on a Sunday morning, it filled up quicklyread less"

  • "This restaurant is a neighborhood gem. They manage to cater to all types on people including families with children with the greatest of ease. My shrimp cocktail was large and fresh with great cocktail sauce. My friend had the scallops and they were equally good as well as the hanger streak. Another order was beef wellington, done to perfection and I had the filet as ordered, medium rare. Rarely do I get it the way I want it. The wine was chilled in advance, so our evening was complete. A great dining experience, and great service."

  • "Perfect place to eat early for a quick dinner. The bar area was quite full at side tables and at bar when I arrived around 5:30PM. The happy hour menu had a nice selection to chose from and I enjoyed their salmon and mussels. Also, $5 glass of house wine and champagne which was good for the price! The bartenders and staff were very accommodating and offered great service! They have a nightly special too and the pork shank on the bone sounded great for Monday night but I was not that hungry. I look forward to going back when I have a bigger appetite."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "For appetizer, we ordered the mussels which was a large portion and were delicious. My family and I all ordered their various versions of steak frites. For something that is supposed to be their signature dish, the steaks were simply nothing special. The wine list is overpriced, 3-4 times market price. The waitress also offered some "diner club card" which I accepted; she never mentioned a $10 fee which she sneakily added to the final tab without a word. I wouldn't go back."

  • "This is the third time we have been here and each time it was extremely good. Good french wine list that had many reasonably priced selections. Food items very well prepared and everyone in the Party was satisfied with what they selected and how it was prepared. Mine was a black bass that had a wonderful tasting sauce on it and it rested on sauté Spinach. Excellent! All in all a great pick for a fun restaurant with french grand style."

  • "Excellent US-version of a Parisian bistro, but with better food! The steak frites (I had mine with Roquefrt sauce) was outstanding while my wife said her Filet Mignon (with Merlot butter in a red wine reduction) was one of the best she'd ever eaten. Service was excellent and the wine list is well chosen. Perhaps a bit pricey, but they do have to buy from the county which adds to the price. Highly recommended."

  • "Our party of three came to celebrate a birthday. Our dishes, without exception, were outstanding. One party had the salad, followed by the seafood crepe which was praised highly. The second enjoyed steak bordelaise which also received high praise. My own choice was the special du jour, the duck a l'orange, which is one of the great treats in this place--beautifully moist and flavorful, a most generous portion, at my request garnished with delicate green beans instead of the usual potatoes dauphine (of which I am not fond). We each enjoyed a glass of beaujolais brouilly. Desserts of profiteroles and tarte tatin were also outstanding. The entire experience was enhanced by excellent service by a knowledgeable, very capable young waiter."
