A word from Momofuku Má Pêche
Má Pêche is Momofuku’s only restaurant that doesn"t require a subway ride to get to if you're coming from the MoMA, the Theater District, Central Park, or work: it's in Midtown. Má Pêche (which means “mother peach”) opened in 2010 and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

At Má Pêche, guests may choose from a variety of passed plates offered tableside to accompany larger a la carte dishes meant for sharing. Inspired by dim sum, the passed plates and cart service allow for a hand-selected, communal dining experience from Executive Chef Paul Carmichael.

This place was great. The food was all delicious. I love the dim sum style of bringing food to the table on a cart so that you may choose from the selection. It is great for sharing and getting to try lots of things. These also have large sharing plates (the fried chicken is not to be missed). The escarole salad was incredible, possibly my favorite which is saying a lot! And the desserts were divine! To sum it up, I recommend this place for a start to finish amazing culinary adventure!

  • Dim Sum concept doesn't work here

The food was good with lobster fried rice being excellent but the service here is terrible. Dim Sum cart is an interesting idea for dinner, and with 75% of dinner menu in those carts, it's important for the concept to work. Unfortunately it's a terrible experience in practice. We had the misfortune of being seated at the end of the carts route. Each time they came by they were either empty or had three plates max. Of the 4 people pushing dim sum carts only one stopped to explain what's in the cart and if we wanted anything. When we mentioned this to the one waitress in the restaurant, she apologized politely and asked what we'd like from the carts. Sadly, half of what we ordered from her never came. I'll never go to Ma Peche again.

Interesting food, although the best remains the ice cream. Most of meal was disrupted by a hyper server who had no sense of how amped-up he was. All food arrived at once, which also gave impression they were in a rush to flip the table, but it was early and not crowded. Experience was in sharp contrast to a lunch we'd had there last year, so give it a try but brace yourself if your server is on a mission to get you to order, eat, and pay in under 30 minutes.

We arrived on time for our 10:45am reservation. No one was at the reception area except a repairman who didn't know anything about the restaurant. We went down the stairs and the place was literally empty. The staff seemed confused about why we were there. Breakfast or lunch, they asked? It seemed we had arrived at an in between time. They had almost no food options to offer us. The manager gave a pep talk to the staff while we ate. No one else ever arrived. Service was non-existent. Very weird experience. We felt utterly invisible. We would have been happy to rebook or go elsewhere if an explanation were given. And all very pricey, too!

We were in the City for a seminar Saturday afternoon and were looking for something near the hotel. We saw that there was a David Chang restaurant with and available reservation and since we couldn't get in Momofuku we decided this would be the next best thing. They actually accommodated us earlier than our reservation so that was a plus. But once the food came that's when things got good. All the dishes were on point and well presented. The chicken, avocado dip, and lobster mac and cheese were all great. Can't wait to take some friends back soon.

Excellent and unusual combinations of flavors. For 2 diners, we had the soft shell crab buns, the pork buns, shrimp balls, broccoli salad, chicken wings, breakfast noodles, and 2 slices of milk pie. My overseas visitor vowed to go back and order the exact same dishes. I loved the food but wish that they had more selection on the savories cart -- they had only 3 "dimsum" choices. We tried all three.

The food was delicious, and so were the drinks (kale juice bloody mary was good, try adding some sriracha to it to make it even better and cut down the saltiness). The vibe was pretty strange though, I think because we got there a little early so it was quiet, and it was a cloudy day so there wasn't much sunlight, making it not really feel like an upbeat brunch scene. Still, really good. Dim sum style was cool too.

A couple of highlights here were the classic Momofuku pork belly buns and the gravy and egg. The egg is a real show-stopper when it is served--won't spoil the surprise. High level of inventiveness and the dishes are quite tasty. However, this dim sum is overpriced (by a long shot) and overseasoned. Not surprising for David Chang but don't expect subtle flavors.

Visiting from out of town and wanted to hit a David Chang restaurant. Landed on Ma Peche and glad we did. Everything we had was very good, with a few of the dishes (rice cakes, lamb) amazing. Two people, with three drinks between us and too many dishes (including desert - crack pie, delicious) to count and the bill came in under $150, which I think is pretty good considering the chef, the location and because I was so full I had to be rolled out.

Ready for unque and delicious and were disappointed. The highlight of our meal was our charming waitress. Unfortunately, we came to eat, not meet nice people. The highlights were the crispy shrimp balls and the crack pie which was akin to pecan pie, without the pecans. Sous vide short rib, why? You lose all that wonderful slow cooking caramelization. Room is underground - nothing but white fabric stretched over walls. Try to find lobster in the lobster fried rice. Carts bring various small plates but who wants hot food that has walked around the dining room cooling We requested to have ours cooked and brought directly to the table. They happily complied. We requested the cold cart but it didn't arrive until the end of our meal.

I have always wanted to go to one of the Momofuku restaurants, but this should not have been it. The food was different, but not necessarily in a good way. The pork belly bun was the best thing I had. The descriptions are somewhat confusing. For example, a dip that was supposed to be crab dip, was actually crab and avocado, with an emphasis on avocado. Not that it was bad, but it was very bland. For a restaurant offering dim sum type service, it should not be this hard to get someone's attention. On the other hand, to be fair, once you got their attention, they were quite pleasant and helpful. Not somewhere I intend to go back to.

Ma Peche is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely, warm glow. It's the perfect place for a date. since we were in New York and going to see a play that night we decided to eat dinner after the show. I decided to check to see if momofuku had reservations and they did so I booked it.we went directly after the show. The hostess was ok if not aloof. The service after that was horrendous. I don't know if it was because we came in as their last res or not but it was not good.we stayed because the food was incredible. The pork bun was heavenly, just salty and tangy and delicious. The cod fritter had so much flavor, used why there was no need for a dipping sauce. But our waiters had no sense of humor, had no sense of urgency or empathy. They even made a $35 dollar mistake on our bill with no apology. Go for the food but get it to go.

The food was great - interesting dim sum selection at dinner. However, the service style (some ordering from a waiter, some from carts) was not clearly explained to us when we began. Dinner was great until a table was sat immediately next to us at the communal table - when lots of seats were available throughout the restaurant.

Food was fantastic as his other restaurant locations. The flavor is fantastically unexpected and delicious. The flavors were great! and the waiter offered to accommodate our individual dining needs after checking with the kitchen. Always excellent! Chef Chang has a unique way of adding flavors and style that I recognize as distinctively Korean that is not too apparent. Ingeniously skilled! Like to meet him one day.

Hostess was not particularly warm when we arrived. Although we requested not to be seated at the common table and reiterated this request when the restaurant called to confirm. Over the phone we were reassured that while it was not guaranteed, since the request was in the rez, she didn't think it would be a problem to be seated privately. Instead we were seated at a common table one chair away from a loud couple which totally ruined what could have been a pleasant and chic dining experience. The restaurant was not full so this should have been an easy request to accommodate. The service was average but the food was innovative and quite good. Glad to have tried it but not interested in returning.

Having dined here a few times, this will be the last. The introduction of carts of food going round to supplement the main order is disastrous with the people pushing them whispering what is on the cart, and basilar vanishing after I 1 lap. No chance to order more pork buns, and just trying to drive up the spend. Less imagination in the food, poorly presented, such a shame

Picking a favourite dish at momofuku is hard. Is it the famous pork belly steamed buns, the luscious soft shell crab buns with spicy mayo and slaw, or the crack pie (which as the name suggests is completely addictive)? Fortunately if you have a small group, you don't have to pick one - but get to enjoy a little of everything. The staff clearly love what they do and the dim sum style eating is perfect for a girls who inevitably has food envy.

We had high expectations. The fried chicken was tasteless, quite dry and poorly presented. The melon salad was also poor with the melon slightly overdone. The lobster fried rice had no salt and no lobster(they used large prawns) The pork buns were to die for. The watermelon, ricotta and chimichurri plate was seriously dissappointing. And the prices for lunch struck me as being too high for some very small plates -like the broccoli salad. Tasty, but not worth the price. I also have mixed feelings about the dim sum cart procedure. The carts can take too long to circulate and may, or may not, have something left on them that you want. I've been to Ma Pêche several times since the carts were introduced. I can see bringing them around for an impulse order --for something I wouldn't have imagined, but In general, I would prefer to order off of a menue.

Was excited for our lunch with my significant other. Unfortunately, with just us two we couldn't order as much as we wanted to try. To start, avacado crab dip-amazingly flavorful for a simple dish. Soft shell crab buns-blown away sauce. Lobster fried rice-rich and comfoting. Fried chicken-over cooked and bland-nothing unique or special. And I believe we had the fish bun maybe but I can't remember so it much not have been that good. With a couple glasses of champagne, lunch was pricey though we knew it would be. Unfortunately, good food, but I've had better for a lot less. Service was also less than desirable though the dim sum style serving was fun and different. Could have used more attention especially with not full restaurant.

I'm a huge David Chang fan. I love the way he talks and writes about food. I agree with his philosophy around dining and eating. I expected his restaurant to reflect this and to have been more innovative. But it wasn't. Don't get me wrong--it was tasty enough, but in NYC I could have gotten a more interesting meal and experience for the same price. The service was just ok. Our waitress was very sweet, but it took 20 minutes for my second drink to come out and my husband's wine was completely forgotten--and we were there on a pretty slow Sunday evening. I'm glad I went because I was curious about experiencing one of David Chang's restaurants and his cuisine, but I'll go somewhere else the next time I'm in town.

Momofuku's on the LES has to be one of the best restaurants in NYC, but this place was the worst. The food was good, but only when you could get it. You order dishes, but they never arrive. You then get an apology and a promise that they will rush the dish right out…but the dish still does not ever arrive. It takes forever to eat, because we could not get food delivered to the table. We even put in a drink order and it took 20mins for the drinks to arrive. Almost every table around us was complaining and asking to speak to a manager. While the food was very good, it was not worth the aggravation.
