  • Too loud and cold

There was a battle of the bands concert, would have been nice to know there would be 10 year olds running around and loud (bad) music. It was also freeezing. We left, never ate. Food did look good. decor was cool but not inviting as it was very dark.

I'm know to be rather forgiving, since I'm usually okay with even half-decent fare. No need for apologies here, though. Excellent sushi, prepared just right. Thank you!

We went for a friend's birthday, and ordered lots of different rolls. Everything was good and the servers were laid-back and friendly, not minding our constant ordering of new dishes throughout the meal. We had a great time and the decor was rather chic. None of the dishes were really exceptionally memorable, but they were all good and priced reasonably. It was definitely a nice place for a celebratory meal.

Quite enjoyed the tapas style dining. Meanwhile, the food didn't disappoint. The food had fantastic flavor and left one desiring more. Of note, very much loved the techie roll as well as the spicy tuna dumplings and it's amazing Thai chilli mango sauce accompanied with guacamole. Our waitress was also quite knowledgeable about the drinks menu and what to pair with our meals. Great dining experience and at a fair value will certainly be making a return trip.

  • We arrived for our 8:30 reservation

We arrived for our 8:30 reservation which seemed to cause much confusion. After the hostess went into the dinning room, back to the front, back to the dinning room, back to the front, and then another hostess came out to seat us. We were sat and handed a drink menu and told our waitress would be right out. Then another party of 2 was sat to our left. The waitress took their drink order, returned and took their dinner order. Then another waiter came to the table to our right and took a desert order and cleared their table. We waited for 15 minutes and no one even acknowledged our presence. We got up and left. We went to Central Kitchen instead (no wait, excellent service, and excellent food). Bottom line Moksa bad Central kitchen really good

Tragic! More than half the menu is sushi but they were out of rice so not serving sushi. Really? The restaurant was not crowded. Ordered the duck rolls, then waitress came back to say they were out of duck. Ordered the tuna spring rolls and got the rolls without any tuna. Left about 5 items on the menu to choose from. Should have known to leave after the staff frisked the male patron ahead of us. The place is really a night club and by 10, they were removing the tables and chairs. The fashion parade of club goers was by far the best part of the experience. Do not go here for the food!

The sushi (we tried two) was not as exciting as it sounds, flavors blend into a mush. After a half hour wait the Pad Thai came. A long wait for street food, but it was fabulous. Wait staff was nice, kitchen must drive them crazy.

Cute and hip! Service was great and food was fast. Tons of great vegetarian options -- I'd definitely order the Roasted Butternut Squash Soup, Vegetable Spring Rolls, and Vegetable Gyoza again. As others have pointed out, there is a nightclub at the back of the restaurant, so I'd keep that in mind when going out to eat near the end of the week. Wine was affordable, cocktails were a bit pricey. I was there for a last-minute Valentine's Day dinner, and Moksa helped make it a great date!

Ian was a wonderful server who really took care of us. He deserves an award for how attentive he was and how knowledgeable he was about the amount of gluten in each dish (I have Celiac disease). :) Food was great, minus the broiled squid which was a little too salty, though still relatively delicious. We very much recommend the tamarind baby back ribs.

I heard about Moksa from watching Top Chef Masters and even though Patricia Yeo is no longer the chef, I still wanted to check it out. The service was great and the ambiance was cool but unfortunately the food was only so-so. We were recommended the spicy tuna dumplings and the crispy duck roll so we got both for starters. The spicy tuna dumplings were by far the best thing we ate. The crispy duck roll was only ok. After that we had two sushi rolls (techie roll and key west roll) which I thought were good but also pretty sweet. Lastly, we got the japanese chicken curry and it was bland and not good. The Mass Ave 4.50 specials for a shot and a beer is a great deal. Might be end up just being a good neighborhood bar!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2012

This was my second time eating at this restaurant and it was every bit as great as the first. You enter the dining are through a brightly lit bar. The dining area is stylishly hip with floors and wall paneling of some exotic wood. We wanted a light meal and shared the chilean sea bass entree which was beautifully presented and delicious. We also ordered a couple "small plates" - the spicy tuna dumplings and the duck, each with 5 or 6 bite sized pieces presented beautifully on a long rectangular plate. The thing that really makes a restaurant special for me is the wait staff and at Moksa, I have had consistently excellent service. Our waiter was attentive, very knowledgeable and fun. Total bill with one glass of wine before tip was $43.50.

I recently went to Moksa for the second time. We had a large group and we were able to reserve on a Saturday night easily. All of the food was excellent. My only complaint would be that they seemed to time the food weirdly. They brought too much out at once and there was not much space on the table. The ribs, roti canai, and spicy tuna jalapeno were my favorite items. Overall, I think Moksa is a great restaurant and plan to return.

  • Moksa's Asian small plate
    RichVIP
    Dined on 12/21/2012
Moksa's Asian small plate style of service is appealing. On the recommendation of our server we ordered 5 plates for 2 people, which was exactly the right amount. Some were quite good, like the dumplings and Japanese meatballs. Others were more average like the crispy fried chicken. Moska really excels in the cocktail department. They have a terrific cocktail menu, expertly executed. Service and atmosphere were both great. Good value.

A very fun, unorthodox experience. My group sampled a lot of different items from the menu to pass around the table, and we loved most of them. A lot of originality in the recipes - not all of it worked perfectly, but it was definitely never boring! I would definitely go back.

Moksa is like a Zen garden - it looks cool at first but then you walk in and realize it really is a simple and basic as you feared. The sleek design with kitchy whimsey wore off when we realized as only one of two occupied tables we were being ignored. When the hostess finally realized we did not have menus she rectified the oversight. Our waitress was kind and attentive and the food presentatIn delightful. Too late. Still, I recommend Moksa if only as a Saturday soiree destInatIon. Have a few before you go.

The butternut squash soup is excellent, and several other food items were also very good (twice-cooked green beans, Thai charred beef salad except that we remembered it as having more beef previously). The Thai fried rice was too bland. The Confucius drink was very good, but most of the other drinks were too sweet for our taste. All in all, it was a reasonable evening.

We eat out a lot, and we always find ourselves back to Moksa at least once a week. We have eaten there since its opening, and we think the current menu is the best ever. The food is great (try the Thai beef salad, the sea bass or salmon dishes, or boom-boom sushi roll) and very consistent, and the prices are wallet-friendly. The drinks are amazing (the beverage manager earned the highest honors for her creative cocktails and wine selection for different magazines). And the staff all are genuinely nice and friendly without attitude. Whether you are in the mood for a lovely meal outside in their beatiful patio (too cold now) or an interesting people-watching experience at the bar or a quiet, low-key dinner, you will find it at Moksa.
