Truly a neighborhood gem. We tried many items and approved of them all. The best part is that this restaurant is independent—not part of a chain or franchise, and if your tastebuds are as bored as our are of the "same ol', same ol'" of most of our area's restaurants, give this place a try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised and leave with a big smile on your face.

Our waiter Jason is a gem, food outstanding. We love this place and have been there numerous times. The sliders are to die for. Their cocktails are fabulous and the dessert. Wow. We especially like the fact that all the food is fresh. One of our party ordered mussels, chef didn't buy them that day as he didn't like the way they looked.

Although on the expensive side, Mokomandy is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Northern Virginia. The drinks are fun and the food is not only unique, but absolutely delectable. I'm not one to usually try new things; however I never worry about this at Mokomandy. Everything is so good. For your first visit, I recommend eating at the bar so you can watch the mixologists at work.

I took my wife here for our second date, and we loved it so much we keep coming back. The food is amazing, the cocktails are delicious and the beer menu is great. The staff is always friendly, service is on point. They're usually busy, so it's always busy so have reservations, even during the week.

I enjoyed our date night at Mokomandy. One thing I mentioned that made the night so wonderful was how knowledgeable our server, Jason, was of the food. His recommendations made our selections easier. We loved exploring the variety of tasteful selections and all were GOOD! We will definitely be back to visit you. Thank you and God bless your business! We will tell a friend!

Who'd think sweetbreads and foie gras in a strip mall? Mokomandy in Sterling has it all, done to perfection, and with a reasonable pricetag! This is a gem in Sterling, usually busy and well worth the trip. Creative, cooked to order all from scratch and all well plated.

Multiple visits to Moko have all been very good food experiences. Great drinks compliment the food. But this time the lack of staff attentiveness and old school gaffs lessened the night. Here's the thing; waiting to be greeted is one thing, waiting to be initially served at the table is one thing, waiting for said drinks until after first course arrives is one thing. Using the table to stack, then restack the finished plates to maximize carry is one thing (well actually several to an old school waiter) waiting for waiter to come by so we can request check is one thing, and waiting 15 minutes to hand someone our credit card to close is maybe two things. Maybe short staff is understandable this holiday weekend. But the lack of training?

Food and service was outstanding. Usually we go more to the Korean side...this time we leaned more Cajun and were surprised at how good it was...but the Korean side was still most appealing! The bison dumplings were excellent, and the Cajun pork dish, whose name escapes me now, but had Carolina golden rice, 3 types of heirloom beans and pork belly was more that excellent! Drinks were really good also. The cucumber mojito was amazing, and not, like most mojitos, too sweet!

Mokomandy has become our favorite restaurant, especially for special occasions and for showing off to out of town guests that there are great restaurants outside of the city. Excellent food, great service and fantastic drinks. We love the potroast sliders and jambalaya. They also have a great kids menu with excellent steak, chicken tenders and fries. And the whole family loves the deserts, beignets are always great and when they have it the mochi cake is fantastic.

We were a few minutes late for our reservation and the restaurant called saying "You made a reservation and you're not here..." I don't know what she would have said had we not been on our way, but it was confrontational especially since there were a lot of open tables. We had the trio of appetizers, all of which were fried, and all of which just tasted like oil including the kimchi pancakes. We had the eggs benedict with smoked salmon and the short ribs with kimchi and fried egg. They were both tasty, somewhat heavy, and generous portions. Service was slow, and the waiter cleared our cocktail glasses before they were empty (a pet peeve). Décor is nice with comfy chairs. Trying to view the menu on the website kept crashing IE.

I would consider this place a neighborhood gem. It is a small spot in a local shopping center close to my house. This restaurant is very unique and modern. The menu selection was very simple yet very interesting. There were several items on the menu I couldn't make up my mind on choosing because they all sounded so good. Presentation of the food was definitely on point. The food had the flavor but I do have one complaint. Our food was very salty. Not sure if this was a one time thing or if the dishes we ordered regularly come like that. The sliders were extremely delicious. I would give this restaurant a second try.

Came here on advice from a friend. Wow, what a find. Service was great and very attentive. Food was excellent. We had Kimchi Pancakes (a snack, but a great one, perfectly fried and served with a tasty soy based sauce.) Fois Gras Dumplings, (Thought they were burned when they arrived, it turned out to be Hoisin type glaze on the top. Very good, perfectly sized.) "Drago" style oysters (a bit of a miss here for me, I have had Drago's several times and they were just off the mark. The oysters were so big they overwhelmed the topping. The topping was also missing the zing of N.O. style foods.) House made noodles, (the shining star of our meal, every bite better than the last, we were scraping the bowl looking for more sauce and veggies.

A couple of snacks, a couple of small plates, and a couple of medium plates are a good template for four people on this unique menu. Kimchi pancakes are highly recommended, as well as the Wagyu steak tips. Fantastic craft beer list with lots of rare and local brews. Get Jalapeno hush puppies if they're available. Don't be turned off by the location (wedged between a Dunkin' Donuts and a karate studio). That's the camouflage that keeps Mokomandy a neighborhood secret. Can get crowded fast, even on weeknights, so reservations necessary.

The food was fab but the server seemed to be a bit overwhelmed. Erin was sweet but one of our orders was never placed then placed after we asked about it. Also, Erin removed a spoon from a dish and it dripped into a water glass. The guest at our table didn't complain; he just refrained from drinking out of it again. She had to have seen that! We felt a little neglected but overall I still love Mokomandy and will return.

We love this place. It's our go-to date night spot. There's always something new to try on the menu, though we tend to enjoy our favorites over and over again (kale chips, fava nuts, kimchi, deviled eggs, wild boar bowl, korean scallops, etc etc.) Absolutely LOVE the new Tuna, Veg and Egg dish. And the surf and turf dumplings. So yummy! Drinks are fabulous, too, with too many good choices and more added all the time. Def check 'em out!

Mokomandy is a smaller restaurant in a shopping plaza, but the food and service is that of a higher end city restaurant. The hostess and waitstaff were super friendly and accommodating. The food and drinks were incredible. We ordered the cracklins, surf and turf dumplings to share. The dumplings were delicious and I love the seasoning they put on their cracklins! They melted in your mouth. I had the beef bulgogi and OMG was the meat tender. It was probably the best Korean food I've had. My husband had the shrimp etouffe. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the dish was flavorful but it could use a bit more heat. Overall, it was an amazing dinner and we'd definitely go back.
