  • "This Montreal institution delivers every time. The after nine menu is amazing - $25 for an appetizer, main course with a side and tea/coffee. I don't eat red meat, so once again I ordered the Moishes Special Chicken with the grilled broccoli and it was perfection. Every time I come I say I'm going to try something new but truthfully cant even think about ordering anything else. Switched out my app for the Caesar salad instead of my usual salmon tartare and was happily surprised - deliciously creamy with just enough garlic. Of course I couldn't finish my meal because I stuffed myself with coleslaw. but it was the right amount of full and leftovers meant that I got to prolong my experience. Two weeks in a row, can't wait to go back again!"

  • "We made a reservation around 10:15, arrived on time but didn't get seated till after 11:00 PM because of some other late reservations. Between 9 and 12 they have a good value menu - $25 for appetizer, monte carlo, and entree. I ended up taking the rib steak. It was decent, but a little dry. Just watch the wines - a glass is about $14!."

  • "I came here for my birthday dinner. The food was very good, and the salmon tartare was quite memorable. I sadly will not recommend Moishes due to the unexpectedly poor service. Let me set the scene: after we had placed our order, a lovely couple sat next to us. We shared the same waiter, and we were well into our main course when they were getting their appetizers. However, they should not have had their table cleared, paid for, and fully prepped for the next guests before our dishes were taken away. Where was our waiter? We had to wave him down after he finally walked by to go adjust an empty table's tablecloth rather than clear ours. We are paying not only for food but the experience as a whole, and I am left disappointed and unimpressed."

  • "I remember eating here as a kid with my family and the steak was top notch. Then about 8 - 9 years ago I stopped coming because I felt the quality and cuts weren't as good as other options around Montreal. After a lengthy discussion about steak with another steak lover I know, I decided to give Moishe's a second chance. I went on a Saturday night, the food was incredible, back to the old time steakhouse I used to dream about! The service was good, the server didn't rush us at all. The porterhouse for two was beautifully cooked and melted in our mouths. The sides were great as well. All in all this is a wonderful place, but it is extremely pricey so it may not be the best place for people on a budget. Then again, a steakhouse never is."

  • "Excellent. only negative comment was that we had to return 130$ steak 45days old for 2 because it was undercook. (We'va asked for medium, slightly rare and it was almost blue). I shouldve return a 2nd time but my old mom was ungly and it was her bday. I saw 2-3 tables returning that same dish during dinner service. Maybe Chef was not used to a steak that thick. Overall I would return but I would not choose that kind of steak. 3 other members of our table were very happy of their filet mignon. Next time that is what I will order. Waiter was very good."

Loved it that an 'obvious' regular named Archie and his small party got in even thought they were 'completely' booked up! A sign of loyalty to customers! The food was amazing!   • "First time at Moishes and I was expecting near perfection. The starter, chopped liver, was somewhat pasty and uninspired however. It was mashed not "chopped" and the large ball of this slithery concoction was too much. When the server brought my mini-filet mignon I was surprised to see a large round plate with a filet sitting in the middle. No carrot, bean or any other vegetable in sight. While the steak was a bit salty it was good but the lack of any side was disappointing. Monotonous. I also had the special baked-mashed potato and this was not bad. The server himself seemed unenthusiastic about the menu choices. Overall a very average experience at a very high price. Do not recommend-there are better steak places in Montreal."

  • "Started out a fantastic meal, steak was perfectly grilled, salads were tasty, and then my $50 steak had a vein of fat in it so thick that I couldn't finish it. Disappointing. Staff were very good although they stayed in the middle of the restaurant hovering and talking to each other whic, overall, was a little distracting."

I have been coming here for over 40 years and the Porterhouse and Monte Carlo potato can't be beat. The dill pickles, cole slaw and chopped liver are legendary!"

  • "Moishes is a Montreal landmark that never disappoints! The cold slaw is the best that you will have anywhere. I started with the grilled mushroom salad. It was outstanding. My companions had a shrimp cocktail and the pickled salmon. Both were wonderful. I then had 1/2 order of perfectly grilled sweetbreads with a half order of perfectly prepared shish kebab. Both were outstanding. My companions had the rib steak and the lamb chops. They said that they were prepared perfectly as ordered and were very tender and tasty! We passed on dessert. I am salivating now as I am writing about this delicious dinner which brings back nostalgic memories of the many visits I made over the years since childhood at this landmark."

  • "I had heard so much about this landmark Montreal restaurant being amazing that we decided to finally give it a try. The tuna tacos appetizer was a totally bland, too fishy tasting tartare, wrapped in a flavorless cold soft tortilla shell with a toothpick through it. Couldn't even eat all of it it was so nasty. I believe it was $18. The lobster roll was an equally disappointing two corners of toasted bun with hardly any lobster on it for $21. The steaks were ok but nothing exceptional. Granted their famous Monte Carlo potato is quite delicious and it's nice to start off with the house coleslaw and pickles. The ambiance is a throwback to a by gone era. The service was very good throughout. It was an ok dinner. I expected to really love it."

  • "We returned to Moishes with our family. We had a relatively early reservation, 6pm so the restaurant was not especially busy when we arrived. The food was great as usual, steaks well prepared and delicious. The only down side of our visit was the waiter. He was not very attentive and when we had finished our meal and had aksed for our bill it was another 20 minutes before we could leave. This was th eonly downside of our evening."

  • "Very disappointing experience, the meat was very dry and overcooked. When you pay 50 $ for a steak you expect it to be perfect. The staff was not the same, the waiters were working with this annoyed look on there face, no smiling, no chit-chat. It wasn't the same atmosphere as before."

  • "Everything on the regular grill menu is over 16 oz. If you cannot eat it all, order from the "light" menu. They are still at a minimum 14 oz. Delicious food and sides."
