The past few years we have taken our ski trip in Breckenridge and we've traditionally gone out for a nice dinner on our last night in town. We had been going to the same place year after year, and the menu never updated. So this year we decided to try something different, and were instantly charmed and impressed by Modis, which felt cozy but upscale. The food had impeccable plate presentation, with obviously fresh ingredients. The staff was friendly and efficient. The portion sizes were just about right--a few more bites would have been perfect. The bar was so popular the restaurant was a little noisy, but the upstairs balcony seating provided a great view of snow falling on the main street outside. We would definitely revisit Modis!

Modis was a very pleasant surprise. The interiors is filled with a combination of historic elements and modern design, with lots of surprises in between. The mood was energetic, and maybe a bit louder than most would prefer, but it never really bothered us. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and was quick to recommend favorites when we had a hard time deciding. The food was amazing, and looked great coming out of the kitchen. Topped off with an excellent wine presentation, I'm not sure we could have asked for more. Will definitely visit again.

Despite my criticisms, our group of six had a very enjoyable evening. I pass along these notes only to be helpful; we would all still return. The lamb sweetbreads were served barely warm to cold. The Colorado lamb was served barely warm to cold. The beet appetizer - with goat cheese was served quite cold. Weird, I expected roasted beets with goat cheese to be served warm. Its temp indicated it had just been pulled from the fridge. Service was good but a bit egotistical. We heard an awful lot about the waiter's life, albeit it was a compelling one. One last note: the lighting over dinner was VERY dim. Around the time our desserts arrived, the lights brightened up

The only question mark — steamed mussels — The first couple tastes I was unsure I liked the flavor. Can't put my finger on it, but it wasn't my favorite batch of mussels. But they did grow on both of us, and we finished the bowl. That said, this place was a real find in Breckenridge! In a town where fine dining is a bit hard to come by — ski town, most every place is casual, kid/family friendly, and over the top mountain/ski-towny — this place stands out. While you still feel OK coming in wearing jeans nothing about the place gives an inch on style or professionalism. Decor, service, food, wine — all excellent. Both had seafood, scallops and striped sea bass — both cooked perfectly. Many places will over cook something like sea bass.

The food was good if a little inconsistent. Our antipasti platter ("modis picnic")was very good and the scallop entree was excellent. On the other hand the pork chop was overcooked and dry. The service staff was very friendly and the artwork by a local couple was a joy to look at. The restaurant has a cozy neighborhood feel although I would only want to sit downstairs. Like most loft spaces the upstairs feels detached from the buzz. All in all, a pleasant place. Actually not a bad value given its location in Breckenridge.

SKIP IT! S-L-O-W service.......2-3 hrs for dinner......bar was 5 people deep and I waited 35 minutes to get a drink....only to be greeted with a rude attidue from the female bartender that needs a reality check during a recession. There are plenty of great local spots in Breck...this is NOT one of them.

The town of Breakenridge is lucky to have such a gem amongst its dinning options. This was my third visit to Mobis, but my first to actually sit in the dinning room and have the full experience. Alan our waiter whom I had met previously when he was hosting was charming and knowledgeable about the food and preperation. I am thankful I had the forwithal to book a table on Valentines a month early through opentable.com...otherwise I would have had to count on my smile to get us a table :-) I look forward to returning again for dinner and have recommended Mobis to friends for when they visit Breckenridge.

We were impressed. My wife is a chef, and we both enjoy good food. The result is that we are disappointed with most restaurants that purport to offer "fine dining". At Breckenridge when we eat out (not often) we usually go to a couple of locals places for burgers or pizza and have all but given up on fine dining. Modis changed all that. We were there on Valentine's day, not the best time to rate a restaurant since it is their busiest day, yet they exceeded expectations. The food was excellent, the service great, and we will definitely be back. Do get reservations.

We first visited Modis last year not long after it opened when we were over in Breck for our annual Ski-ing holiday and it was a mixed experience , however , this time it was completely different . The food was fantastic as was the service and the lively atmosphere certainly contributed to our evening , being that it was Valentines Day we thought it would be fairly quiet in Modis but it was a typical lively Saturday night in town . We will be returning when we visit Breck next year.

The food selections were very good and unique. Out of four dinners three were considered very good. The pork chop ordered by one in our party was very tough and was returned to the kitchen. The manager graciously removed the cost of the plate from our tab and offered to replace it with something else. The service was good and the courses came out in a timely manner. This restaurant has a very good wine selection to go along with their menu. This was our second time dining at Modis and would recomend it to those visiting the area.

Modis is my new favorite Breckenridge restaurant. It is located in an old building on Main Street that has been up dated in a rather elegant way. The stairs going up to the open second floor are beautiful and we were seated next to the railing with a great few of the restaurant. I had the Modis Big Salad which was huge and delicious,it's almost a meal in itself. I then had the Butternut squash ravioli appetizer and it was just enough. My husband had the beet salad-he is still talking about how good it was-and then the sesame seared tuna appetizer. All in all it was a wonderful evening - great food and wine, good service, and a beautifully restored building. I am looking forward to another trip to Breckenridge and Modis.

I took a friend to Modis that had not eaten before at the restaurant and we had a most enjoyable time. We had a superb dinner with very good service. I had forgotten how huge their portions are and I wish we would have split some of the things we ordered. We were on our way to an NRO concert in Breckenridge and they had us served so we had time to spare - which we appreciated! My only negative is the noise level as we had a difficult time carrying on a conversation.
