A word from MoCA Asian Bistro - Queens
Located adjacent to the prestigious neighborhood of Forest Hills Gardens off of Austin Street--the commercial heart of Forest Hills where many restaurants & boutiques lie side by side, MoCA stands out as a well-known establishment in New York City.

After viewing a refreshingly distinct Asian bistro style with LCD display and outdoor seating in the warmer months, the diner can continue to experience from inside the outdoor scene through the over-sized pivoting wooden panels. Customers can choose to sit at the bar while sipping on their cocktails and enjoying the atmosphere, or head straight to the sushi counter to be pampered with a customized exquisite sushi meal prepared right before their eyes. The comfortable table seating, offered as an alternative, can be enjoyed for hours through a meal with a variety of tastefully presented dishes that combine the best cuisines that Asia can offer.

The waiters are always good to me here. Very personable. One of the waiters actually remembered me from my previous visit, therefore he came over & greeted me. Always great service & let's not forget great sushi.

Although nothing spectacular about it, it is a VERY solid neighborhood place- took my whole family out for dinner and ordered many appetizers and entrees- and while only one dish was really special, everything else they served us was "really good". So as long as your expectations are not unrealistic, (like thinking this is NOBU) you will have a good meal and good time, at a fair price....

Sushi were OK, sashimi tasted like just thawed (had some frozen spots). Asparagus was terrible. Service was very sloppy: the personnel was friendly, but inexperienced. We asked to replace rice with veggies for my mom in her main entre. They did not bring rice, but they did not serve veggies either. For others rice was served 20 min later than the main dish. Dessert was OK, but my red beans ice-cream taste exactly the same as my son's green tea one.

When I dined, I tried to pay partial with opentable dining check. They claimed they had no clue what it was. they called the manager who also had no clue. I asked how can they not know what it is if they use opentable to book reservations. So basically I could not use the dining check. I asked for the drink menu to be left with me but every 30 seconds someone kept coming to take it from me. its like they had limited menus. My food was mediocre. I order a king crab roll. The roll was chewy like the crab was frozen, then overcooked. The rest of the food uneventful. I dined here before which wasn't an awesome experience but gave them another chance. They failed.

After seeing friend after friend check-in to this restaurant I figured it had to be good. It was also one of the few non-chain restaurants open after 10pm. I ordered three appetizers, the wasabi shumai, rock shrimp, and wonton soup. I enjoyed the wonton soup but the others were not to my liking. The group of friends I went to also had hit or miss appetizers and entrees. There was no middle ground. I will say that some of my friends enjoyed the wasabi shumai so maybe it was just not my cup of tea.

Food was good although my husbands was not that cold. The service was lacking. When we arrived we told one lady with a clipboard that he had a reservation and she said ok but it will be several minutes. Didnt ask our name and she was going to seat the walk ins first. We decided to check in with another lady who had the actual reservation system in front of her and she told them to seat us right away. It took a while for someone to come to our table. When he did he knew nothing about the menu and i ended up ordering something completed diffsrent than i expected based on his description. When i asked a menu question he just reread the description to me

Took my wife there for Valentine's dinner. We had raw oysters, some Toro sushi, and the sea bass skewers to start with; she had the sea bass dinner, and the creamy seafood for myself for our entrees. The food was great, service was outstanding, we'll most definitely be back.

I went for my 23rd birthday. I must say, the food was amazing! The service, was not so good. They completely ignored my table. We waited almost 30 minutes before someone came to check on us, and that was only because we called over a manager. Would I go back again? Absolutely, but next time I may try one not in Forest Hills.

MoCa is a local neighborhood restaurant on a very crowded Austin Street in Forest Hills characterized by little or no parking. I met a friend for dinner. Low lights allowed the couple directly across from me in abooth to be making out for 1/2 of my dinner. Interesting-distracting-and of course the wait staff had no clue how to intervene. They didn't! Food was decent. I had a Filet Mignon Roll and it was difficult to find the filet. Noise level was moderate. I might go back if I was in the area again.

My experience was just ok. Food was decent. They served us water in a cracked glass and it was leaking the whole time. Really odd. I really doubt that they read the OpenTable reservations since I had a special request as a first date and they did not accommodate it nor evementioned it. Probably won't be going back for a while since there are many options in the area.

I made a reservation for 7 two days before. When I went, they couldn't find my name/reservation. 4 of the 7 people had arrived and they wouldn't seat us until at least 5 people came. So we waited another 15 minutes until a 5th person arrived. We were finally seated and everything was pretty smooth from there. The rolls are amazing and so are the drinks. The aura of the restaurant is also amazing.

MoCA takes reservations up to 10:30 on OT, but the kitchen closes at 10:30. We arrived at 10:00 and were being rushed to order by 10:10. Why even take reservations that late? Also, it's very loud, like eating in a dance club.

A bit surprised to find this restaurant received a B rating............Probably would not have gone had I known in advance. Food was good, nothing to rave about. Sashimi was fresh, portions generous. Service was abrupt, almost unpleasant but certainly not rude.....just flat and unwelcoming. We were their for a BD celebration and the mood at MoCA was lass than celebratory........I must say, the hostess gave a a very pleasant goodbye!

MoCA is a Forest Hills staple. If you like well prepared and tasty Japanese/Thai fusion, this is a place for you. • A+ Ambiance & Food but Disorganized
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 2/14/2012
Went on Valentine's day. My biggest issue was that I walked in told the hostess that I had a reservation and was told I would have a 45 minute wait. I was there 5 minutes before my reservation time. They clearly were not organized or ready to handle a the crowd. After speaking to someone else about my reservation I was able to get seated pretty quickly. The ambiance of the restaurant is really good and my wife and I really enjoyed our food. The waiter would disappear for a while but then when he brought our dessert he immediately put the check on the table and was hovering to move us along

The only problem with our experience here was that we were very rushed. The service and food was delivered extremely fast -- we finished appetizers and the entree and were back in our car on the way home in LESS THAN ONE HOUR. When you pay MoCa's high prices, you shouldn't be rushed like that.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

Very disappointed! We've dined at this restaurant several times. Service was always a bit rushed and uneven. This time was the worst. We went for their special $45.00 prix-fixe menu. Our reservations were for 7:00 PM. The waitress told us the surf and turf entree was wonderful. When we all ordered the surf and turf, we were told they only had two left. When it was time for the desert (only one choice was given) we were told they only had two left. One of us should pick any desert from their regular menu. The desert chosen was not available. What nonsense! Besides being disappointed in the service and lack of menu availability, the restaurant was boiling hot. All-in-all, not a great dining experience.

There is nothing about MoCA that stands out, but the food is good, prices are a bit above average for the quality and the area, and the service is "okay" the managers aren't awfully friendly and most of the waitresses have thick accents, but that's weighted against good rolls and a nice ambiance
