MKT Restaurant and Bar (fka Seasons Restaurant)Forget Seasons, MKT Is Here!Having dined at Seasons monthly since it opened, I was prepared to hate MKT. Ambiance is #1 to me at a restaurant––the food's gotta be better than what I'd make at home, so the room better be as nice.
Gone are the lavishly extravagant furniture & decor. But hello! So is the stuffy drapery––the windows are HUGE, the views exponentially amplified–just glorious! The butcher-block tables are retro-chic, the comfortable chairs are fine; diners can focus on friends, food, service, & view.
There is a more industrial vibe now––go to any hotspot, that's the current look; interior designs have to change, it's not a bad thing.
Enjoy the always superb service, enjoy the decent and sometimes memorable menu. The room will grow on you, I promise!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's always a fun place forIt's always a fun place for a special treat like a birthday.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMthe new look is noisy, andthe new look is noisy, and the atmosphere is cold and uninviting considering they spent a LOT of money fixing something that wasn't broken... ,fortunately the SERVICE is still totally classy and the best in the city with a superior confident staff always there to assist the diner..5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for business breakfastI met a client here and it was perfect for a breakfast meeting: elegant but not stuffy and the food was excellent. I had a very simple fruit plate with amazing honey yoghurt and wonderful banana bread. The fruit itself was 'wow'. Granted, you get what you pay for, but it was excellent. Unobtrusive service and plenty of space between tables so you could talk without feeling overheard.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a favorite spot inAlways a favorite spot in SF. The food is always good, and appreciate the kitchen can accommodate special requests.
The new decor is a bit more casual, but still very comfortable.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious lunch/ impeccable servicefour of us were given a semi private area because one of our guests was hearing impaired. the location with a market st view and amazing service level was perfect. the food (crab and shrimp louis salads, ahi tuna sandwich, tomato soups, seafood chowder) were wonderful and nuanced. the apple pie w/ ice cream capped off the lunch perfectly. make this your getaway downtown!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMthe NEW noisy"inplace"The entire Staff, and especially the SERVICE and the SERVERS are STILL all the BEST in the city, sadly tho with all the money spent on the new look its noisey, the ambience and elegance from the previous look of the restaurant are gone. It is SO severe it feels more like a cafeteria rather than one of SF's premier dinging establishments..One would think with all the money spent on the new look they would have paid some attention to the ambience.. The tables look more like cutting blocks bought from home depot. The whole look is borderline industrial, and way to severe , table clothes would cut down the noise.. who ever designed the NEW LOOK has NO idea what a restaurant of this quality should present.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service is wonderful; The service is wonderful; it is in general a quiet venue with a lovely view of a slice of the city and it's food is high quality, less invention than attention to doing things right. Hors d'oeuvres and main courses were all excellent. All three of us were pleased.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great option forThis is a great option for dining in San Francisco weather you are staying at the Four Seasons or not. This time, we were not due to a medical conference my wife was attending at a different hotel but we made a point to have at least one dinner there. As always, it was great. The food is well prepared and the staff does not know how to say no to any special requests! The wait staff is excellent as in most Four Seasons. Overall, highly recommended.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe clam chowder soup wasThe clam chowder soup was delicious! From the time we were seated to departing, the experience was everything we were looking for. It was a very enjoyable lunch.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
