The sophisticated dining room is located on the second floor overlooking the city’s spectacular views.

    If your plans include more than 50 people, mk’s main dining room is perfect for a lunch or evening event. Evening events are subject to a food and beverage minimum. mk’s staff can help pair the perfect wine with each course. Event planner Kate will coordinate any flower arrangements, AV and sound equipment as well as special food and wine menus for your event.

  • "I could not have chosen a more perfect place to dine with an old friend visiting from out of town. My husband and I had wanted to try MK since it is very close to our home and we were not disappointed. High notes were the pheasant, scallops and lobster. The only low note was the lamb fettucine, which had VERY spicy sausage and lots of fatty pieces."

  • "We have been going to MK for about 9 years, dined there this weekend, and it's as good as ever. They have slightly reworked the front area bar/lounge and some minor changes to the dining room, which has "freshened" it up to maintain a clean chic look. Our server Steve was great, very attentive and personable. My wife wanted the steak but also loves the accoutrements that went with the Bison, (mushrooms, fiddlehead ferns etc), Steve solved the dilemma by substituting them with the steak. She also had the "Two Tartars" of tune and Fluke which were outstanding. I chose the Endive salad and a Filet/Foie-Gras/Potato Pancake special that was amazing. And last but certainly not least, they still offered the Cake and Shake dessert."

  • "From the minute we walked in, we knew we had stumbled into a great find! The atmosphere is very cool with a wonderful energy, the service is above and beyond, and the food is absolutely fabulous. Saada makes sure that every aspect of your meal is perfect, while Jessica the manager bedazzles you with her infectious smile and enthusiasm. When we couldn't decide between the Cake and Shake or the Triple threat, she surprised us with both... and a visit from the pastry chef! No detail is left to chance, but everything is done with ease and grace at this fantastic restaurant. Our only complaint is that they are not open for every meal:) We will most surely be back next time we visit Chitown!"

  • "Since we do not live in Chicago, on our visits we like to try new spots. This time we decided to return to an old favorite and found it as fresh and innovative as it was on our first visit. Care is taken to paint a picture in their descriptions of each well thought out course. Local sourced and fresh are the name of the game. The food is innovative but still approachable. We won't take so long to return to one of our favorites."

  • "We chose a food flight and wine pairing at a set price. The server added a second taste of wine to about half of the wine flight for my wife and me. I asked the server if I could have a last small extra taste of the dessert wine and the manager stormed up to our table and complained to me that had had extra tastes of wine already (I didn't know it wasn't part of the program) and asked if he could charge me $20 more after touting how much he had to pay to buy the bottle. His attitude was abrupt and embarrassed me in front of my wife. She was infuriated with his demeanor. We promptly paid our bill and left-embarrassed by the manager when he wanted $20 more on a bill that was already $340 for two! Outrageous. I will never return there-ever."

  • "MK is the first restaurant to ever receive a 5-Star Rating from me. We hadn't been there in a few years but decided to go for a special anniversary and we're so glad we did. The room is gorgeous -- 2 levels plus an open loft dining area under a huge skylight. Our waiter was ultra professional, sensing our every need and tending to us without being intrusive. We started with the artichoke salad and the endive salad and both were excellently prepared. We each ordered the salmon and agreed that it was the best salmon we've eaten in Chicago. The chef "gets" fish! It was delicately prepared medium rare and served with bok choy and a light sauce. I'm salivating just thinking about it. Great wine list, too."

  • "First time I went to MK was 6 years ago and I had an amazing experience. I always wanted to go back. We finally did last Sunday for my birthday. The food was great but the service was poor. The waitress didn't care much for us except to push filing wine in our glasses. Also the music was pretty loud and for a Sunday night I thought it was not really appropriate."

  • "Sometimes you just have to celebrate and go all in. Salmon amuse bouche… Oysters with bacon mignonette, Meyer lemon scented pea soup with coconut, the Crab crostini's (which we asked to take home a bowl for a midnight snack) and pommes frites, truffle cream. Lobster/fluke was poached to perfection along with a 6 oz. filet topped with fois gras and chanterelle mushrooms in a port reduction. Exceptionally friendly staff, everything cooked to perfection... unfortunately didn't make it to dessert. We'll leave room for the next visit!"

  • "My wife and I had a special occasion dinner at MK and it was spectacular. We collect Rhone wines and built the meal around a 2006 Condrieu from their cellar. From the appetizers (fish tartare and oysters) through the entrees (salmon and scallops), the marriage of the wine, food, ambience and service was perfect.   • "I booked this for four of us from the UK for a birthday celebration for my wife. When we arrived we were immediately made welcome and were given a great table at the upper level. My wife was made to feel special and throughout the meal we were all delighted with the excellent service. The food was truly great and the wines delightful. A special birthday menu was offered although we went for the a la carte but it showed how much MK were determined to be good. We had steak and bison between us and it was excellent and perfectly cooked. For my wife's desert a candle was attached to the plate and a greeting piped in chocolate. A truly memorable event. MK is highly recommended."

  • "I recently took my fiance, now wife here on the night before we were scheduled to fly for our destination wedding to mark our last night in Chicago as an unmarried couple. We received a very warm greeting and after not being able to find our booking (obviously a mix up as I had rescheduled), the host apologized and seated us immediately. Our waitress was extremely knowledgable and polite and was quite fun to talk to whilst keeping the right level of engagement you'd expect at such an establishment. The food was exceptional, every dish we had was extremely tasty and the fact that you can bring your own wine is a great bonus (the corkage fee is expensive but worth it). I would highly recommend and we'll definitely be returning."

  • "I dined with my partner, having the tasting menu with wine at $180 pp. I pointed out a chipped plate had been used during the first tasting dish. The staff were very apologetic, including the chef personally visiting the table to apologise, adding two extra tastings with wine (grilled octopus and bison), and sending the sommelier to serve wine for the remainder of the meal. The food was extremely well prepared, presented, served and very tasty. The wines were beautiful and complemented each dish well. We were more than satisfied hunger wise (my partner couldn't finish her last savoury dish). The evening was finished with a beautiful selection of handmade biscuits to take away. A great food, wine and service journey. We would visit again."

Worth the cost and calories with an experience that impresses from every angle. Run, don't walk, to the restaurant and make that reservation if you want a great experience for yourself and a need for an "event". Also really enjoyed sitting upstairs overlooking the main floor---that was a treat--and one I hope to do again real soon when in Chicago."

  • "MK had been one of my favorite restaurants but it had been a long time since I had been there. I am happy to report that it is as good as ever. Simply put, the food is terrific. The wine list is extensive and, as would be expected, tends towards the pricey side. However, I noted a number of bottles reasonably priced for a fine dining restaurant. It is not "stuffy," but is appropriately energetic; that is, there is a bit of energy in the room, but you hear those at your table easily and can be heard without having to raise your voice. I can't wait for another excuse to go back."

The New York steak with frites and the scallops with white Fava asparagus and wild rice were over the top. The service from Julio, Steve and Jessica, the hostess and manager was exemplary. This is a great restaurant that clearly deserves Michelin recognition. "
