Chef/owner Frank Bonanno has created a special spot for food lovers here. At Mizuna, cooks are given free creative reign over a menu that changes monthly to emphasize pure, seasonal ingredients with clean flavors that make even the most exotic fare seem familiar. Ultimately, this is an American-style restaurant heavy on French technique, influence, and philosophy with flawless service and an eclectic assortment of international wines. Continued

  • "Have always rated Mizuna very highly among high-end '' conventional'' Denver restaurants. Have not been for a year, dined there a week ago and was rather disappointed. Meal was mediocre at best , altho' the sweetbreads appetizer was very good. Salads were boring , entrees rather messy in presentation , and not particularly interesting in flavor. Mizuna can do better than this."

  • "It was our first visit & we had an incredible experience. The fresh ingredients were so well put together. I hate it when the dishes are all trendy, but don't deliver with solid flavors & textures. Mizuna was pitch perfect. We had the 5 course meal & it was superb. Every single course & we each had differing dishes. It was all pitch perfect. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "This was my girlfriend and I's first time at Mizuna. We have eaten at Luca d'Itilia and wanted to try another one of this chefs restaurants. When we came in we were greeted right away and the place was about 2/3 full. We were seated quickly but It took a while before our waiter came over the explain the menu and get our drink orders. I got a Moscow Mule to drink but it was basically a lime juice on the rocks. We each did the 5 course meal and the food was really good and well prepared. The waiter did an OK job of explaining what was on each plate. I asked one of the bussers about a meal and he did a better job explaining the meal. Over all It was a good time but I will stick with another restaurant in this price range."

  • "It was a very high class restaurant with a family-like atmosphere. Being able to see into the kitchen added to the ambience, though we were seated in the back with the walls of wine. The dessert was amazing, the drinks were very good, but I would not go just for the drinks...they weren't AMAZING. But the food was wonderful and the service was great!"

  • "Mizuna is always a fantastic experience. Every member of the staff makes an effort to enhance the experience. Food at this - and all of the Bonono resturants is fantastic. Cannot praise them highly enough."

  • "I was excited about going to this restaurant. It ended up being a disappointment. The food was just okay, especially for the price. It might be better in a different month as they do change their menu often, but it definitely did not hold up to the hype."

  • "Only good parts of the dinner were the company, and the wine. cauliflower "bisque" was bland, could not find any flavor similar to lamb in the ravioleta, let alone any physical evidence of it. The bread was decent but uninspired. Veal tenderloin was medium rare as advertised, but the combination of sides that came with it overpowered the veal flavor, and was too strong for the delicate veal. Scallops were probably the best dish, however it was perfectly uninspired. Citrus poached pear seemed more like poached in sirup!"

  • "What a great dining experience. The sizes, the food, the service, everything was absolutely perfect. I went there with two other friends and they named me their "food guru" after trying this place. Thank you!"

  • "our experience at Mizuna was a delight. It was a celebration for my daughters 50th birthday and it was stunning. we were charmed to be welcomed with a glass of champagne. the creative cocktails were excellent. The homemade bread was excellent. we choose an appetizer and a main course. and both were exceptional. We had the scallops and the sea bass which was amazing. The service was perfect, attentive, but not hovering. We were thrilled with the entire package. Please open one in San diego! where I live"

  • "Had the duck. Very tasteless! The tables were so close. I heard the ladies conversation next to us the whole evening. We were celebrating our anniversary, pretty disappointing!"

  • "Had dinner at Mizuna on Wednesday night, and decided we'd do the 8 course chef's tasting menu with pairings. From the minute we walked in the door, we felt taken care of - our server, Heather, was awesome. The food was completely delicious, and the wine pairings were perfection. What a great experience - definitely a new Denver favorite in our house. Thanks to Stephen and the whole staff for making it a memorable night."

  • "Mizuna is such a wonderful restaurant. It is always consistently fabulous. If I owned a restaurant I would take my entire staff there to show them how a dining experience should be. From the time you Valet your car going in, as you are greeted warmly by the host person, as you meet your wait person to your departure you are made to feel very special. The menu is always an adventurous taste delight. The anticipation is then topped by the execution. For an elegant, 5 star restaurant it always amazes me how it gives such a friendly, warm family feeling. The customer always feels like they have been invited into the staff's home. Mizuna is the total package!"

  • "I have been to this restaurant several times over the years and it never fails to amaze. The wine list is extensive and the food is a delight. The area can be hard to find a place to park, but you can use their free valet service to solve that problem!"

  • "We each had an appetizer and an entree. There was also some bread for munching on while we waited for appetizers - the olive bread was my favorite. We split a dessert. This was the perfect amount - portion sizes were perfect. The appetizers were good for sharing a couple of bites, but I really wanted most of mine for myself! Nice mixed drinks/wine list too. We've been trying a new restaurant each month for a few months now, and this is currently my favorite meal so far! Note: They change their menu and we'd happened to look a couple of nights before (late February) and pick out our likely orders. But when we got there (early March) our pre-selected items weren't on the list. If you go, they have valet which was very convenient."

  • "When visiting my son in Boulder, we decided to venture out for a quiet dinner. I have never felt compelled to say this before but ... this was the best dining experience, from service, to atmosphere, to superb food, that I have ever had; beginning with the visual and aroma of the freshly baked loaves of bread arranged near the entrance. The staff was friendly, gracious, and attentive yet never made us feel rushed. Kelly was helpful without the sommelier condescension one often encounters and his recommendation was spot on! Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared and delicious. The Rabbit Ballotine over white bean pork belly cassoulet was an absolute delight and the high point of my meal. What a wonderful evening to share with my son."

  • "The atmosphere is perfect, elegant and wonderful. The service is friendly. The appetizer and desserts were some of the best. The entrees were average to below average in taste and very expensive for an extremely small portion. Turned out to be a very expensive evening with the highlight being the Lobster Mac & Cheese appetizer and Chocolate Sphere dessert. I would recommend only for a drink and appetizer or end of evening dessert place."

  • "We had a great red wine and I had a wonderful tonic cocktail before dinner that the bartender made up just to my liking. The tonic that they make is good enough for just a drink by itself. The escargot dish was very good but maybe a bit too much pastry for me. My monk fish was very good too but the lobster hush puppies that came with it were the best part! We always have terrific meals here and its worth the higher price. The chocolate molten cake was exceptional. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable, too."

  • "My husband and I had reservations for the evening of February 15. First I will say our service was outstanding. The waitress was attentive and reserved, and I wouldn't have changed a thing there. The ambiance was lacking, mostly because they had tables so tightly packed that we were inches away from the people next to us. I understand it is a high-volume weekend, but I don't want to go out to valentine's dinner with 10 other people within a few feet of me. The food was not bad, but certainly not as good as it should have been for the cost by any stretch of the imagination. It was certainly nothing exceptional and definitely not in my top 10 in Denver. That was the biggest factor for me in deciding that we will likely not return."

  • "Cannot say enough good things about our experience at Mizuna. The food was divine, staff extremely knowledgable, and the ambiance was perfect. Kudos as well to the bartender, who went out of his way to make my pregnant wife a delicious virgin beverage to enjoy. This restaurant is definitely in the top 5 of any we've ever visited and we will be coming again soon. Thank you!"

  • "Wine was great. Food was ok. Felt like they hid my wife and I in a corner because we weren't their usual high dollar client. Service was great and the sommelier was awesome. No reall stand outs for the food. Wasn't a huge fan of foie gras plate. The torchon seemed out of place. Wines were excellent. Walked away feeling educated on the wines we drank. Which was awesome because the majority of wines chosen were wines we wouldn't have picked. Would return to drink more wine and talk with sommelier."

  • "Overall we had an amazing meal! We hadn't been back in 12 years and we were dreaming of the lobster mac and cheese. The sauce had a more liquid than we remembered it was still amazing! One of the best restaurants in Denver."

  • "Absolutely perfect; the prix fix menu allowed us to taste lots of scrumptious food. Service was spectacular. Waiter recognized we were in a bit of a hurry at the end and got us the check and out of there quick. We will go back."

  • "Mizuna simply does not disappoint. And in the world of Denver eating, where many great establishments hit the scene, make an impression and then fade MIzuna's food, service and ambience consistently keep it current. This is elegant yet comfort dining, for a celebration or simply a meal shared with someone you care about , done perfectly. Everything on the menu is worth trying and, from the homemade bread to welcome you in to the purity of desserts presented in showstopping form (we shared the chocolate 'sphere') every bite lets you know that you are somewhere special without equivalence despite an impressive food scene out here in the West."

  • "We enjoyed our 30th Anniversary at Mizuna. From the warm greeting by the hostess, through the celebratory champagne, tasty salads and mouth-watering main courses, we had a wonderful dinner. Great service! The dessert was to die for but we plan to be married for even longer!"

  • "Mizuna is outstanding. Though we've lived in the area a long time, and have eaten at other Frank Bonano restaurants numerous times, we had never made it to Mizuna. I highly recommend it for a night of amazing food, wonderful service, great atmosphere. If you haven't been you are really missing out on one of Denver's finest treasures in dining!"
