Our "ladies' dinner" fave. They change up the menu just enough to keep it interesting. Just bring your appetite and a big bottle of pre-mixed margaritas. You'll love it. Just don't tell anyone -- we don't want it to get too crowded!

We were looking forward to our meal all week. And perhaps our expectations were too high. Our meal was good, but not as good as some I've had their. Hopefully just an off night in the kitchen. We will try again.

Food is creative and excellent. I would warn out-of-towners like us and others who don't know that it is BYOB, albeit with a liquor store across the street. It is also deafeningly loud and most of the patrons seems to consist of large parties which only enhances the noise level. If you're up for not much conversation, enjoy.

Neighborhood spots don't get any better than this. The tilapia taco appetizer wins every time, but the newly added tacos el pastor (pork) may have overtaken them. Fresh ingredients and spectacular flavors. Visit this place, but not too often. I don't like waiting for reservations.

I love Mixteco Grill, I have been there many times and the quality of the food is excellent. It's an authentic gourmet mexican place without the price tag. Tortillas are hand made in the spot. The recipes are creative, try the lamb in Oaxacan mole or the steak. As appetizer we always get the calamari salad with its excellent woody flavor, the corn tamales with its unique poblano sauce or the fish tacos. The back part of the restaurant is nicer. Service is outstanding and helpful. You can bring your own bottle.

I went to Oaxaca over the summer and I was completely mesmerized by all of the amazing dishes that I had there. Obviously, when I heard about this place I had to go. I am so glad I did because this place is TRULY the real deal! The owner and staff were very kind and attentive. I had the Chilaquiles verdes with steak and my mom had the Camarones poblanos. Both entrees were incredibly delicious. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked and I'm still in awe how they were able to grill the camarones (shrimp). We both had the fruit tart for dessert which was insanely good as well. If it were socially acceptable to lick your plate in public, I would have because the food was amazing. I will definitely be back again.

When Mixteco first opened, we dined there often, then the original owner/chef left and the food declined. Broke that absence and had a most wonderful dinner with friends--who says restaurants can surge back? Obviously everyone else knows the food is back on top...when we arrived for our 6:30 reservation, place was already packed. The place is small and tables tucked close together, not too close but the noise level was already climbing. The chicken with a pumpkin mole perfectly flavored for cool evening. Husband had the shrimp dish that was almost too pretty to eat. Dessert, something we rarely indulge, was a mouth-watering warm fruit tart sitting next to vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries. Yum! BYOB always a plus--we'll be back soon.

We hadn't been here for a while. The last time the dining room was really crowded and extremely noisy. It is understandable that it would be crowded because the food is great. We decided to try again when we thought it would be more quiet - earlier in the evening on a week night. We don't like extremely noisy dining, so this turned out to be a good move for us. We will definitely be back now that we know when we we can go to have a quieter experience. Prices here are still reasonable for the quality, and BYOB makes it nice on the budget, too.

I don't know why I save Mixteco for special occasions, as the moderate prices plus BYOB policy make it easy to dine there regularly. Maybe it's simply because it feels special being there. Gourmet level Mexican cuisine, wonderful service, terrific ambiance. This past visit was consistent as ever on all three. Maybe I won't wait a year for my next one.

The food was delicious, especially the mole. Service was attentive and the only flaw, was that the food came out too fast. We were done with appetizers and entrees in an hour. The food was flavorful and for some, a little too bland but I didn't miss the heat because the flavor was there.

This is my first written review but I'm compelled to share this experience. I thought this place would work great for a birthday party. We had a group of 15 and decided to go with the prefix deal which allowed each guest to pick a appetizer and entre' followed by desert. The restaurant is BYOB which also helped greatly on the cost. I brought in wine and had a friend mixed up some margaritas. Every guest raved about the food which was much better than couple options most other venues provide for large groups. For our desert, the chef made a beautiful birthday cake for our group to share which way exceeding my expectations decorated beautifully for the birthday. The staff sang when they brought the cake in and it was very delicious as well.

Mixteco Grill was just what we were hoping for and more.... we were looking for a festive, quaint, BYOB place and we found a gem!!! The food was outstanding!!! I ordered rack of lamb with mole sauce and it exquisite. Hands down, everyone's favorite dish. I can't wait to go back and order cerviche which was sold out by popular demand. The desserts we sampled were out of this world! I highly recommend going to Mixteco Grill for a wonderful night out on the town. We all loved it and we will be back.

We love a BYOB, especially when we are with people who will triple the bill with the bar tab. Everyone very satisfied with their appetizers and main course. It was a very warm evening - did not feel A/C so that could be an issue this summer, we were seated under ceiling fan, so we were okay, but the open kitchen concept + no A/C = warm, dress appropriately. Always find street parking and the staff is very accommodating and pleasant. Add Mixteco Grill to your restaurant rotation, you won't be disappointed.

This is the second time we've had a table by the window so I consider that a good view while savoring those edgy flavors, unexpected sweetness on the tamales and tangy bite on my shrimp and a different tang on my husband's salmon special of the night. With the distinctive sauces on the appetizer and main course, I made a mistake of having a delightful but heavy dessert which I won't do again. The service by Mexican men is subdued but attentive.

We dined at Mixteco Grill on Friday night. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with appetizers and dessert/coffee. Our server was very attentive. He allowed me to try a sauce from a dinner item that I was not sure about. Turns out I ordered the item because the sauce was excellent. I am a vegetarian. The menu offers several non-meat items. My friend ordered a chicken dinner and said the veggies and chicken were so fresh and flavorful. We plan on coming back for more fabulous food from Mixteco.

I really enjoyed this restaurant when it opened years ago. Things have changed. The service was poor. An the food was worse. Overcooked fish, gloppy luke warm mole sauce on the chicken dish. Even the black beans seemed as if they had seen better days, days ago. What a disappointment.

The place was pretty empty on a sunday afternoon and after tasting our food my mom wondered why there werent anymore people at this restaurant.

Fabulous food and bend-over-backward service (they let my kids watch part of the World Cup game on the business iPad). We started with the guacamole and fish tacos that were terrific-- crispy fish with fresh cabbage slaw and homemade tortillas. We then moved on to the Cochinita Pibil and the Entomatates (veggie enchiladas). The mix of spices and flavors is always perfect and my two boys, 11 and 13, always love what they order. If you like Mexican food with flair, try his place!
