  • "Mitchell's Steakhouse is as good as you'll find anywhere in the country. All of the classic meat dishes and ala carte sides are here, along with an attentive, but not overbearing, waitstaff. The wine list is good, although the selection by the glass leaned too far to the new world for my palette. As for ambiance, the modern and elegant room is expansive and high-ceilinged, yet remained quiet enough for conversation the night we were there. I've eaten in fine restaurants in over 40 countries and if it's classic, high-end American Steakhouse fare you want, you won't be disappointed with Mitchell's."

  • "This is a very nice restaurant with good food and good food service. The staff is polite and all the dishes we ordered were delicious. One area of improvement would between cocktail orders service time. It seemed to take a long time to receive your drink after ordering it. 10 minutes is too long. Valet service is conveniently located in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is owned by Ruth's Chris."

  • "this is one of the few places where I have gone and ordered a steak rare and it actually came rare. I was impressed with the quality of the food. our waitress had a very good knowledge of wine. she recommended a red zinfandel that was excellent. I was very happy with her recommendation. if looking for a very nice evening out with a good meal then this is it. I only have one suggestion for this place which I will add to the private note section of the survey for the restaurant. hyde park, Morton's, Ruth Chris and other high end steak places I have been to have all done one thing and that is put the napkin on your lap when you sit down. I think that should be a standard not over looked. I will return it is wonderful dinning experience."

  • "My husband and I had dinner at Mitchell's for date night and it was great. Our server was amazing (curly dark hair, glasses, tall, I apologize I forget her name) and didn't miss a beat. She was very attentive to our needs and wanted to ensure we had a great night. My husband's birthday was in the same week so I notated that in our reservation as I wanted to do something special for him and the gentleman at the host stand said Happy Birthday to him and they brought out a special dessert on a "Happy Birthday" plate and it was awesome! Overall a great dining experience with incredible food, awesome wine and the best creme brulee EVER!"

I was put off that the manager came over to the table in front of ours and said you I see you are celebrating an anniversary but tomorrow for fathers day we are giving a $25 gift card for your next visit. I thought that is a nice gesture. I was there with my husband and father celebrating fathers day. Did I get that same offer, no I didn't, I left and went out to the valet and retrieved my car and was getting upset just thinking about that. I went back in and spoke to the lady at the reception desk and she said she didn't know but would check with her manager."

Absolutely a wonderful experience before the play at the Ohio Theatre. It is walking distance from the parking garage and is the perfect atmosphere for an evening out in the downtown area. "

  • "This was out first time at Mitchell's. The steaks lived up to their reputation. We were one of the last tables left in the restaurant so we decided to order our dessert to go. Imagine our surprise later when we opened cheesecake accompanied by shriveled, colorless cherries (I think that's what they were) and a very small, square piece of carrot cake that looked like it was baked in a 9x13 pan. Super disappointing. "

  • "My husband and I were visiting the area from Canada and the bartender at the hotel where we stayed recommended Mitchell's if werwanted a really good steak. The decor is breathtaking; very historical/classical touch. Very well renovated. Food was excellent but the peppercorn sauce is the worst we ever had - I make it tenfold better at home. So bad actually that we returned the saucer still full. That was a $4 thrown out the window. The steak dinner we both had was excellent and grilled exactly to our liking: blue and the other medium rare. Great wine. The service was so-so but that was because our server was "dizzy" - forgot often. Nice lady though! Will definitely return but will NOT order the peppercorn sauce!"

The staff was fantastic and we did not feel rushed at any point. The calamari was as good as advertised and it was probably in my top 5 for best filets ever."

Cheese sauce for lobster mac-n-cheese was thin and quality was very disappointing. Might return for happy hour for a glass of wine and some apps, but will not be back for dinner. "

  • "I have been going here for many years. I took my wife here for Mother's Day and quite frankly this was the first time I went away from there feeling it wasn't worth it. I tried the special which was a bone-in rib-eye. I asked for it medium rare and it was raw in the center. When I brought it to the attention of the server, his reaction was that it was difficult on a thick piece of meat to get it right. He was less than attentive and we ate early and it was not overly busy. It was well below my expectations of Mitchell's based on my previous experiences. Unfortunate. "

  • "This used to be one of my favorites. I have written several very positive reviews in the past. However, based on my last visit (5/10/14), I won't be coming back. The service was fine, though the entrees did seem to take a while to come out. I'm willing to pay more money for a nice restaurant when the food is great. But the food this time was pedestrian at best. Food was unevenly cooked, the seafood dishes tasted and smelled very fishy (as opposed to the expected clean, ocean-y smell one expects). And if you want to charge 7 bucks for macaroni and cheese, it better be hot, bubbly, and gooey. This was watery and more like Kraft. There are so many other fine dining options in Columbus now that there's no reason to put up with this."

  • "What should have been a great celebration of our daughter's graduation turned into a series of bad events. Our waiter Paul was attentive at first, but as the night progressed he disappeared and didn't fix kitchen errors. It took 15 minutes for me to get a glass of wine. My husband's salad did not have dressing on the side. We had to request rolls several times. But the issue that pushed us over the edge was that my scallops were served cold. Paul took them back to the kitchen and said the cooks tested the temperature and they were raw. After 30 minute, after the famiy had finished their meal, I still didn't have my scallops. Paul said he'd take items off our bill and they were on the bill presented. No dessert for the graduate."

  • "We were two of approximately twenty people in your restaurant at 7pm. The service was great a long with the wine list and lobster appetizer. The sad part of the evening was that I ordered the 16oz ribeye med rare and it arrived med-med well. Really? On an slow night at a place that specializes in steaks and charges $49! The server handled everything well along with a manager that gave an "adequate" apology. I chose not to have the steak replaced as my friend was already half done with her filet so I dined on my Mac chz Two things I would suggest by my experience. Train your servers to check back on the temperature of the steak presented in a timely fashion and teach the grill cook how to touch a steak to tell if it is cooked correctly."

  • "I had searched for several steakhouses before our visit to downtown Columbus. We were happy with this selection. Nice place. Not over the top, but still a quality experience. This is a business casual restaurant, but unfortunately like most restaurants these days they did not enforce those standards. We saw a couple nicely dressed, but in designer jeans. Designer or not, this is not appropriate for a business casual restaurant. In their defense, it was not clearly advertised on the website or on Open Table. The server was friendly, again, not over the top. The steaks, ordered as medium, were on the medium rare side, but that again seems to be expected these days. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "My girlfriend and I came in for a relaxing Monday treat. We each had three course meal with ribeye, hers oscar style. Although her steak was more medium well than medium rare and the martini not so dirty, the food and drink as they were prepared were splendid. We will be back soon to try other main courses, but I won't, and not a soul should, leave without the lobster appetizer. My choice for the best starter in town."
