Diner Reviews
  • "Now that Mitchells is owned by Ruth's Chris its just not as good. Cut of steak was not up to par , and food was just not prepared or cooked the same as before. Still good, but not fantastic like it used to be. Disappointing"

  • "Great steak and seafood place right by the capital. Our 6 oz steak and lobster was made to perfection, had great sauces. Love the oversized calamari with custom tartar sauce, too. Romantic booths for side by side dining. Loved it."

  • "The food was well prepared and very tasty - though the entrees were overpriced. The wine suggested by our server was right on point for what we were looking for - but again, way over priced. The service was exceptional."

  • "We were two of approximately twenty people in your restaurant at 7pm. The service was great a long with the wine list and lobster appetizer. The sad part of the evening was that I ordered the 16oz ribeye med rare and it arrived med-med well. Really? On an slow night at a place that specializes in steaks and charges $49! The server handled everything well along with a manager that gave an "adequate" apology. I chose not to have the steak replaced as my friend was already half done with her filet so I dined on my Mac chz Two things I would suggest by my experience. Train your servers to check back on the temperature of the steak presented in a timely fashion and teach the grill cook how to touch a steak to tell if it is cooked correctly."

  • "I had searched for several steakhouses before our visit to downtown Columbus. We were happy with this selection. Nice place. Not over the top, but still a quality experience. This is a business casual restaurant, but unfortunately like most restaurants these days they did not enforce those standards. We saw a couple nicely dressed, but in designer jeans. Designer or not, this is not appropriate for a business casual restaurant. In their defense, it was not clearly advertised on the website or on Open Table. The server was friendly, again, not over the top. The steaks, ordered as medium, were on the medium rare side, but that again seems to be expected these days. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "Love this place, best steak in town. The wines are getting too pricey at average over 14-15 per glass which is somewhat ridiculous."

  • "Like every restaurant in the Cameron Mitchell chain, Mitchell's Steakhouse lives up to the high expectations that CM sets for all of their establishments. Great good, great and friendly service, and it was quiet and relaxing."

  • "Food and service were excellent. Anniversary dinner - we were surprised with free dessert on a celebratory tray and a keepsake photo. Steaks were excellent. Best lobster bisque in the city. Manager was pleasant and attentive, personally calling a cab for our return to hotel. We will be back soon."

  • "This was the first time we had tried this restaurant and it exceeded our expectations! Best steak I have ever had - melted in my mouth. Try the calamari appetizer - like no other! Worth going and going again. I will be back"

  • "My girlfriend and I came in for a relaxing Monday treat. We each had three course meal with ribeye, hers oscar style. Although her steak was more medium well than medium rare and the martini not so dirty, the food and drink as they were prepared were splendid. We will be back soon to try other main courses, but I won't, and not a soul should, leave without the lobster appetizer. My choice for the best starter in town."

  • "GM Pete Vorus is always very welcoming, warm and most gracious. He knows his guests by name, recognizes us upon entry, and his sphere of influence is inherent in his staff. Pete's a total asset to Mitchell's, which makes us repeat guests!"

  • "We traveled from out of town to see a show and made reservations online. We were very happy with service from online reservations to the greetings which started on the sidewalk. Our meal was outstanding as well as the service. I would this recommend this restaurant to anyone thinking about a delicious meal in a perfect atmosphere. We told our waitress we had a show to make and she made sure we made it."

  • "Food was marginal for an upscale restaurant.thos was my third visit and my first bad experience. Service was good except for an unusual long wait between salad and main course."

  • "Had a wonderful dining experience with good friends. Atmosphere was very rich. Took a picture at our table and the background lighting made the shot look awesome. Each course of the meal was delicious and my steak melted in my mouth. Wine list included many wines we enjoy."

  • "We had a gift card and was a bit surprised by the prices but it was worth every extra penny! Our server was knowledgable and friendly. We will be back."

  • "The service was great but we expected the food to be just as good and it was only fine. I would expect a restaurant at this price point to have more impressive and exciting options. There was nothing special about this rather bland, basic food."

  • "Great dinner here, but the server was more preoccupied with other things then his tables. Forgot our bread, barely checked on us and placed an order that we didn't even want. The dessert for my wife turn out great but my was over cooked(no lava just cake.) For the price of the food the service should've been better. While sitting there eating I did observer many of the other servers doing a wonderful jobs. This may be an overlook but not a great first impression."

  • "This was our first time dining at Mitchells Steakhouse. It was my wifes birthday and she chose to eat here after viewing your online menu. It was a great experience and your staff really made her birthday a special one. We will definitely be back again."

  • "Mitchel's is a very nice restaurant downtown. Great service by all employees. Food was very good, but i still prefer j. gilbert's. steakhouse."

  • "My wife and I had a gift card for Cameron Mitchell's although this restaurant would not accept it. They said they were bought out and this type of thing happens all the time for the past six years! I suggest they change the name so this confusion does not happen again. I had expected $100 to be credited to my bill, and to my surpise we received a "sorry we aren't owned by Cameron anymore." The food was fair, definately not a melt in your mouth steak for $50.00. I would save your money and visit Hyde Park in Downtown Columbus, Ohio for a romantic and quiet night out instead of Mitchell's."

  • "Was not impressed! We have had much better steak and food overall at Texas Roadhouse. For a bill of $250 dollars for three people we left hungry and disappointed. Could have ate better and not left hungry for $60 dollars at the Roadhouse. Save your money!"

  • "Went for a business dinner on a Tuesday evening and overall it was a good experience. Not too crowded. Food was good, but I don't think the value was worth the price."

  • "I went last Friday with my 2 teenagers- fairly early - 6:30pm. It took some time for our waiter to come, then we ordered, which took a while to get the food. They brought my food out first without the the other 2 meals. I finally asked if they were going to bring out the kids meal and they forgot. That is fine, mistakes happen. I purchased the course meal, I did not like the desert, so I told the to change it and I would pay any differences, when I got the bill, they charged me the full amount for the other desert. For the price it is not worth it.... Really down hill since it was sold."

  • "We were seated right away. Our waiter greeted us promptly, was knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating about substitutions. Unfortunately, the food, for a high end steakhouse, was just above average. I am a chef. My steak went back twice for being improperly cooked. The side items were good but not great. The corn, described as "fresh off the cob", arrived shriveled and had a "previously frozen" texture. It should have been plump, juicy and "popped" when bitten. The service was impeccable, the staff was fabulous and the manager was THE BEST, however it is hard to be satisfied with "pretty good" food for that price. It may be coincidental, but the restaurant was recently acquired by "Ruth's Chris". Or, maybe they just had a bad night."

  • "We went to Mitchell's for our anniversary. We had been here previously and the experience and food was fantastic. Our 2nd visit was just as good. I had mentioned during my reservation that we were dining there for our anniversary and they had decorated our table with some heart confetti and wished us a happy anniversary. The steaks there are outstanding...you really can't go wrong with any choice. We had soup and salad for starters, cocktails with dinner, and the bread pudding for dessert. Everything was amazing. The decor is beautiful and its a nice quiet, relaxing, friendly atmosphere. I've been to a lot of other upscale steakhouse's, but this is my hands down favorite."

  • "celebrated a late valentine's day dinner here and it was amazing! the service was great from the second we walked through the door, our server was very polite and knowledgeable of the menu and was always around to check on us. As for the food, we had filets which were cooked to perfection, the sides serve 2 to 3 which is great for sharing or taking home for later. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves a good steak and a peaceful dinner"

  • "This place his high quality at its best. It's expensive but definitely worth trying. I've been to a lot of great steakhouses but this one was unreal. They cook your steak absolutely perfect. I highly recommend the Gorgonzola ribeye and the apple pie bread pudding."

  • "We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. The restaurant gave us a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was super friendly and aimed to please. Our server went out of her way to find us a bottle of wine. It was a pleasant and relaxing dining experience."

  • "Ambiance and service were what you'd expect from an establishment like Mitchell's. The comments around the table at the end of the meal as to how folks food was - brought 2 of 4 "It was Ok". I would have to concur as well. Shrip Scampi was somewhat bland. RibEye was overcooked. All in all - would give MItchell's a B for the evening."
    Dined on 2/11/2014
  • "The food and ambience at this restaurant are great but there are just some things that are overpriced. It's hard to buy a bottle of wine for fifty dollars when you know you can get the exact same bottle at year at Giant Eagle for twenty dollars. Reduce the wine list price and it'll go a long way to making the experience a lot better."

  • "was great! We have had better meals over the years at Mitchell's, just plain blah, they seem to be cutting corners, for instance the remoulade is nothing more than mayonnaise. Overall the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, service was outstanding, nice wine list."

  • "I was excited to try this restaurant for a romantic dinner with my husband. I do appreciate that the staff knew it was a special dinner and put hearts on our table and took a picture of us, and I loved the atmosphere. However, for the price, which I knew would be expensive and was willing to pay for, I expected incredible food, and overall the food was ok. I wouldn't recommend Mitchell's or go again because there are at least three fine dining restaurants close to my somewhat rural home that ate far better and more affordable. Overall, I disappointed in Mitchell's."

  • "The food was excellent. High qualify beef. This place is not inexpensive, but is worth the price for a special occasion. Service was not up to Eddie's usual standards. Altough menus and wine list were presented when we were seated, it was quite some time before the server appeared and another 15 minutes before he came back to take our drink orders. When that finally happnened, the salads came out in about 10 minutes but our drinks and fresh bread (which, by the way, is excellent) had not yet arrived. This may be picky, but I think drinks should come first, followed by salads. In any event, the place was packed (on a Wendesday night) and they may have been understaffed for a busy weeknight. This is still a favorite and I will be back."
