Mitchell's Fish Market - RochesterA perfect meal!Great food and great ambience. It was crowded as expected for Mothers Day, but hardly chaotic. Waitstaff was catering and was not "harried". That says alot for good service. I highly recommend the spinach salad - best I've ever had. A rose given to each mom dining was also a lovely touch of great service. We enjoyed shopping afterward, as the restaurant was chosen because of its location in the lovely village of Rochester stores.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day DinnerWe normally go to Mitchell's for dinner for occasions and do lunch while at that end of town. It was a little noisier than usual, perhaps due to the many kids eating with their moms and grandmothers. We didn't mind. My wife had tilapia which she says is the best in our area. I had crab cakes, done perfectly (I like a little brown crust). I washed it down with a Guinness. We split a piece (huge slab) of seven layer carrot cake at the restaurant. Avoid ordering two gluten shark fin deserts even if the server allows it. Excellent servers makes this Mitchell's very comfortable. Great wine, great food, greater service, and they even treated us to dessert and gave us an anniversary card. We didn't have to wait for a table and the waiter came over immediately and recommended excellent food choices. We received our drinks and appetizer very quickly and then our salads came out. Please keep in mind the lobster bisque has a very strong tomato base rather than a cream base. The issue was it was an hour after the salads were served that the entree came. The waiter and manager did come over to apologize for the wait and said something would be taken off the bill but when we looked at our bill they had not taken anything off or gave us a discount for waiting so long. The server was open and helpful and knew the menu very well (a must have for fine dining). Only set-backs were we asked was for quiet table for two, BUT we did not know the layout and energy of the resturant, so it was not an issue. And not sure if bisque is suppose to be warm or hot...thought it could have been hotter.

It was my guests first visit and she loved everything! I prefer lunching or dining in the lounge/bar as the room is cozy and free of families with children or large groups. The special cocktails are very good but way too sweet; ask for them to use half as much sweetener. Raw oysters were perfect. Seared ahi tuna app was perfect. Calamari app is enormous- enough for four people and too much for two to share. Desserts are just okay. Our bartender/server was excellent. Our food was good. as usual, but our service was a little off this time. Our waitress either was a bit slow, or over extended in the amount of tables that she had to take care of. She was pleasant, and professional, but we asked for bread three times during a 15 minute span. Other people who had come in later than our party had bread way before we did. On or third request, we flagged down a floor manager to get us bread.
We will go back, and consider this to be more of on an anomaly, and suspect she had too many tables to cover that night.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMitchell's Fish Market hasMitchell's Fish Market has better fish than pricier places. I think it has the highest quality fish in our county and the prices are very reasonable. I started with a very delicious salad, but my friends enjoyed their soups, too. The salad had figs and pine nuts on it, and although I usually don't like vinegar-based dressings, the dressing in this case was tasty and mild. The salmon is to die for. The key lime pie with macadamia nuts is also one of my favorite deserts. I have been there several times and wish to go back very soon. Weekdays are quiet, and Friday nights are busy and noisy. It does not look a kid-friendly place, but we have brought kids there on weeknights and everyone was hospitable to them.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMitchel's Fish Marketwe had an excellent dinner. We ordered pecan encrusted white fish and the meal was superb . It came with green beans and garlic mashed red skins. They were also excellent. The beans were crispy and the potatoes tasty.
