  • "I met a friend/client of mine for dinner and had not, myself dined at Mitchell's before. I very much enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere and the service was outstanding. The employees all seemed genuinely to like what they were doing which added to the already pleasant atmosphere. My friend frequently eats in the bar area and while we didn't eat there, I was struck by how welcoming that area was and how comfortable the patrons seemed to be when we walked through on our way out. "

  • "The dimly lit tables add to the ambience. It’s just a great date night atmosphere. My boyfriend and I have been to Mitchell’s on several occasions, and have a wonderful dining experience each and every time. On Friday night, he had the Blackened Cod and I had the Ginger Salmon; both were outstanding. After dinner, we went to the bar for drinks and dessert. It’s one of our favorite places"

  • "This was our third visit to this restaurant. We celebrated my wife's birthday with other members of our family. Bar service was ok; not bad, not great. Table service, on the other hand, was outstanding!! Our server was excellent. We had ten in our party. The manager jumped in and helped. Food was terrific. Only thing, I think the entree pricing is a little rich. Regardless, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we definitely will be back!! One other point. We added to our reservation twice throughout the day. The hostess could not have been more patient and nice about our requests, which I felt bad about; one was very last minute. My wife was quite happy to have the additional family members available to share in her celebration."

  • "Always great - never a bad experience. Terrance, our server, was awesome. He was polite, attentive, never pushy or short - vey accommodating, and very knowledgeable on the menu. He made the experience for us this time. He just always seem to know what we needed or was looking for. Both my wife and I remarked how great he was - a rarity in a world where customer service seems to be a lost art - Terrence was awesome. Overall, Very good meal."

  • "The place just seemed disorganized and not very clean. Tables where so close that I had a servers behind in my face most of the night serving the other tables. From the beginning, the bar area just looked unkept and dirty. The plates our food came on looked like they hadn't been washed from the previous diner. I probably won't go back for these reasons. It was not relaxing at all. However, the food was reasonably good and our server was very nice and was really trying to do a good job. I had Crab Legs and my husband had Surf and Turf."

  • "I have been here before and it was excellent. It was very crowded and frenzied on this night and the food was not up to par. After being seated well past our reservation time our table was so close to the one next to us that my arm hit the back of another patron each time I took a bite. I have never had anything like this happen before in a restaurant. Overall, not a good night for this restaurant. Very disappointing, on what was supposed to be a special night for my 2 guests. I did not blame the server, She did the best she could."

  • "A group of 3 couples enjoyed dinner and drinks on Sunday evening. Two couples split their entrees, but also ordered appetizers for an assortment of seafoord treats. The trout and scallops were especially good, but we had raves for the gumbo as well. Everyone had either bourbon on the rocks or glasses of wine which we were happy with a healthy serving and great selection!! Will likely return soon.."

However the Caesar salad had no flavor and the Seafood Americana dish that I tried was not good at all, because the shellfish butter sauce was more like gravy and had an unappealing fishy oder. Certainly not worth the money. Don't think we'll return."

  • "Our first venture to Mitchell's Fish Market happened to be a 9 pm reservation on Valentine Day 2014. It was snowing. We arrived about 8:30 (early) and was seated about 8:40. My wife and I happened to order the same thing (trout), and it was nice. However, the next time, and there will be a next time, I will try to get them to broil me the nice trout fillet 'without the breading and such'. The trout was very good along with the potatoes, but, the green beans were just somewhat woody for me. Overall not a bad meal. I have to tell you that I am not much on eating fish that I cannot see through the breading. My wife and I enjoyed the experience overall, and will return in the near future for a different meal. My wife was very happy."

Except for one special occasion last year when the restaurant ran out of lobster, we have enjoyed our meals there very much. That one failure was enough to make us disregard the restaurant as a possible choice for several months. But on this day, everything was fine - the food was delicious, the portions were generous and the service was friendly. Recommended."

  • "The food is always fantastic. Wife had the Seafood Trio and I had the Steak and Lobster. Wife enjoyed the meal and my steak was wonderful. We always go to Mitchell's for special occasions and since the weather was bad on Valentine's Day, the day after made it more special. Would highly recommend this restaurant to those who enjoy a good 'surf and turf' experience. You won't be disappointed."

  • "I went to Mitchell's last Valentine's Day with my girlfriend and everything was great so I reserve a table at Mitchell's again for the following Valentine's Day with my now Fiance. The overall quality of the food was good, but there are better places in Louisville. With that said there is no other place to my knowledge with quality seafood which is why I go to Mitchell's for any type of seafood. The average cost is around $25-30 a plate and there is always enough food to fill you up. The noise level wasn't too bad considering it was Valentine's day, but I think the weather had something to do with keeping it quiet on such a busy night. The service was also great too. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good seafood."

The server seemed a little distracted and didn't seem too focused. But up in the past the service was always excellent."

  • "Arrived a little later than our reservations due to weather, but we were immediately seated upon arrival. The atmosphere was perfect for our romantic dinner. Noise level was moderate only because the place was packed, but we were able to converse normally without having to raise our voice. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer, the sea bass and steak/lobster as our main course. Simply amazing. All were seasoned and prepared to absolute perfection. Some of the best seafood we have ever had-will definitely return!"

  • "I've been here several times. The food is always good, but the service can leave a little to be desired...they are a little slow. Not sure if this is a result of being understaffed or that they just have slow waitstaff. I did have a reservation, but still had to wait about 15 minutes. And normally, I don't like to be seated in the bar, as it is always noisy, but since I had a movie to go to after dinner, I took the table. Next time, I will make an earlier reservation or arrive 15-20 minutes before my reserved time in hopes of getting a better seat."

  • "The food was really good; the service spot on and the location was hopping on a snowy Friday in Kentucky. Be sure to make reservations, but also be prepared to wait. Service runs about 15 minutes behind schedule. No reservations -- be prepared to wait at least an hour. The service was dead on. Efficient; polite and yet unobtrusive. Really good food."
