  • "The hostess was irritated & sighed really loud in my face that I changed my seating to be in the bar (which was dead). My guest had a cocktail order & noticed the drinks were not made the same as the 1st.The 2nd round the moscato sangria had less fruit and alcohol & 3rd round of drinks the bartender put soda or sparkling water in our drinks.Our waitress never apologized, took the glasses off the table(she did ask if we wanted another and we declined)& she then talks loud for us to here & drew 3 other waitresses huddled around talk to the bartender about the drinks. As a guest this behavior was uncalled for & I was embarrassed that my guest from California whom I bragged about coming here was dissatisfied &unimpressed."

  • "Our evening was fantastic. Our waitress observed that we we in a location with a large party and lots of kids running around. Having lots of kids and grandchildren we were not very upset but we had trouble hearing each other. Our waitress noticed this and took it upon herself to suggest we move to a more quiet area. The manager came out and said to my wife you ordered a gluten free meal and he noticed it was not cooked that way and redid her meal. We were very impressed with both the waitress and the manager. It was a great evening. "

  • "This was my first time here. They were very busy, the wait was short for the table we had booked. The appetizer, crab cake was very good! My main dish, chilean sea bass shanghai style was incredible!! I topped it off with the 7 layer carrot cake which was the largest dessert I've ever seen!"

  • "The service was great . how ever 3 out of 7 dinners had to be sent back. How can food come out of the kitchen COLD. My son in laws was sent back twice , the 3rd time was a charm. The manager came over and said how sorry he was, and he did take that meal off our check. This is not the first time we have had food served cold and returned it back to the kitchen to be heated up, baked potatoes lobster tails steak just to name a few. We are done I will not be going back to Mitchell's."

  • "The ShangHai sea bass here has been a go-to dish for me for years. Excellent shrimp cocktail for a very reasonable $13.50 for four. Shark Fin pie dessert is always great. Carrot cake was a slab the size of a cartoon cheese wedge, but is sometimes too stiff from being refrigerated. The only mishap was the server at the next table must have dropped a beer quite a distance because it shot up in the air amazingly far. I was the only person inside the red zone and my hair and clothes caught quite a bit. Didn't make a big deal of it and my wife said she saw the same server spill wine on someone minutes before. Usually management will come by and toss in a dessert or something in such a situation, but no biggie. Still top of my list."

  • "We went to Mitchell's in Livonia to celebrate a birthday and a wedding anniversary with friends from Ann Arbor. We have previously frequented Mitchell's in Birmingham and have found it very pleasant. We arrived at 6 pm. There were several large groups also celebrating. Unlike the other Mitchell's the dining room was very cramped with barely room to walk between the tables. The noise level was horrendous and we found it difficult to have a conversation at our booth. The appetizer of fried calamari was greasy and the batter overwhelmed the squid. For the main dish of scallops in Shang Hai sauce the scallops were rubbery and the only flavor was the strong sauce. This was truly a big disappointment and will not be repeated by this couple."

  • "Overall our party including myself were pleased with Mitchells. I asked around the table and the group were all pleased. We had a wheelchair bound person in our group and the resturant managed that beautiful. We were seated quickly, John our waiter was fast and personable, and accurate. My stuff lobster was a bit rubbery and tough but that happens sometimes. Everyone else meal looked and tasted delicious and you knew that was true based on no doggie bag leftovers. All in all a very good experience."

  • "Our waiter was very good and knowledgeable but he forgot the iced water that I've requested. The calamari appetizer was not crispy and the sauce served did not matched it. I've had better calamari @ cheaper restaurants. The wine was good but the label did not say the alcohol content! The fish served was very tiny considering the cost of the entree was almost $20. We paid more than $120 for dinner and we were not satisfied. The clam chowder and the carrot cake were big disappointments. I will think twice about recommending this restaurant. My friend and I were not happy."

  • "We usually eat in Birmingham , we thought we would give Livonia a try. It was VERY noisy and hard to have a conversation. The food was good, not outstanding. When a mistake was made with one of the salads the kitchen scraped off the error instead of making a fresh salad. The food was not hot, it must have been sitting for a while. The ambiance is not the same as Birmingham ."

The specials (lobster and tenderloin and shrimp and tenderloin) were very hot and most of us were pleased with the preparation. My lobster was perfect, but the tenderloin was a bit tough. The service, by Ryan, was incredible! He was friendly, fast, efficient and knowledgeable. We will be returning."

  • "while it got off to a rough, confused start, this was a delightful experience. having reservations was a smart move. we were seated a large table, although we were only a party of three. we were politely asked to move to a booth. shortly after our move, we were served an appetizer that we didn't order. okay, the confusion was a little scary, but ultimately amusing. overall, it was a great experience. excellent food, a pleasant, attentive, thoughful server and ambience made this a place we would definitely recommend!"
