In my opinion, the ambiance at the Newport location is a bit more romantic than the West Chester location, for whatever reason, so if you're going out for a special occasion, I would recommend Newport. But the food and service is always just as great. The Clam chowder was the best I have ever had--if I were at home I might have licked the bowl. We ordered from their current special list and the Shrimp and Lobster Pasta was a great choice. I really enjoyed the food, the service was excellent, but the noise was deafening at times. I couldn't hear the person sitting to my left (my host). I have been at Mitchell's during both lunch and dinner occasions, and will return for both. They are but far our favorite seafood place to eat, nowhere is even close. The service is excellent and they will make sure whatever details are needed are done to a tee. We got in right away and were waited on promptly ans each mother was given a long stem red rose in honor of Mother's Day. Our food was served within a reasonable time and everyone's dish was delicious! I had the Shang High Medley, my mother had the chicken, and everyone else had the Fish Market Trio. We split Key Lime Pie and the chocolate pie for dessert. The waite staff was great and the meals and dessert were delicious!!! The service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable, & got our order done correctly, even though we asked for substitutions & dietary restrictions. The service was prompt & friendly. Our food was also excellent, & came to us exactly as we had ordered. For example, I ordered grilled trout with no added butter, & extra veggies instead of potatoes, also with no butter or sauce. Our table shared the chocolate cake for dessert, & it was so worth the splurge! It was moist & rich....a perfect ending to a great meal. Restaurant needs to purchase butter/flame underneath warmers so when you order KING CRAB DINNER, it does not get cold after the first bite. Jags does this, as does most restaurants. My friend and I celebrated her birthday, and the meal was a pleasure. The service was outstanding. we ate outside in the peerfecct spring weather.
I have so many favorites at Mitchell's, but tried something new -- the shrimp tacos, spicy version. Wow! I am salivating just writing about them. I was happily surprised when we arrived my boyfriend and I were seated on time, and they had printed out menus that said Happy 29th Birthday. I don't think a restaurant has ever made that type of effort. All because I put comments in the comments section on Open Table. We had a great dinner. The service was spectacular our waiter was extremely courteous. I made numerous substitutions and even ordered a soup. I love their lobster bisque. (It actually had bits of lobster in the soup unlike other restaurants that just have the taste.) On the table was an envelope that said Happy Anniversary on the front and inside there best wishes and to us on our 44th (nice touch)Our server Brook came to the table and was genuinely happy for us and congratulated us, she was very sweet. She took excellent care of us through out the dinner. The Lobster tails were perfect, my wife had the filet mignon,she it was as good as the best she has ordered.
