  • "My husband and I went to Mitchell's for the first time to celebrate my birthday. We had a pleasant meal and very good service. It was a late afternoon Sunday dinner and I expected the restaurant to be busier. Let me preface this with saying that I am a manager a "upscale casual" steakhouse so I may be a bit more critical than some. I informed the server of our special occasion and was surprised that I didn't get a manager visit especially considering there were only three other tables in the restaurant. This would have given me the opportunity to tell the manager that we were receiving very good service from our server. Food was great. Drinks were a bit too sweet and there was no mint in our mojitos."

  • "My husband had the live lobster and beef skewers special, it was awesome. I had their shrimp pasta special, which was just okay. The appetizers were great though, we had crab cakes and ahi tuna, I would recommend both. Service was competent and prompt. We'll come back again."

  • "After many solid Mitchell's experiences in the past while a resident, I returned to Detroit and targeted Mitchell's for a business meeting. It was a disaster. The food was late, cold, over-cooked and side dishes were left off, came later, were wrong, etc. The lobster was dry and had to be dug out of the shell, and the steak skewers were over-cooked and full of gristle. One diner ordered a dish with hollondais sauce and by the time the sauce arrived, he had already eaten the main course or, if not, it would have been ice cold. The waitress was great and did her best to apologize and make up for the issues, but the damage was done. We had customers in from Europe and they were visibly put off by the experience. Very disappointing."

  • "Usually, this restaurant is excellent in all phases. This time, however, on a holiday week end, the service left a lot to be desired. The waiter was new, and not fully trained. I had to show him how to pour the bottle of wine, without spilling it, which he did, on is initial attempt. He brought out my soup, while I was still eating my appetizer, and I had to send it back. I expect, when I go to a restaurant of the caliber of Mitchell's Fish Market, that the servers are trained. More important, though, is that when we arrived, they did not have our reservation on their computer, even though,I had it on my iPhone. I had to notify the manager of this fact, so we got credit. This has not happened before, and I hope it won't happen again."

  • "Our waiter Spencer was outstanding he was actually one of the best leaders had in a long time the lobster tails were miniscule and they were cut in half and grilled so they were not real juicy. My salad was literally drenched in dressing. The best thing about the meal was the waiter. I don' t believe we will be returning any time soon."

The hostess was sweaty, the restaurant was dirty and smelled, and the portions were small . . . except for the carrot cake. Save your money and go to Red Lobster!"

  • "We had a gift card to try out Mitchell's and decided it would be a good option for date night on Saturday. Emily was our server and for it only being her 3rd day on the job, did a fantastic job taking care of us. The food was spectacular. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The 7 layer carrot cake is the bomb and we even took some home for breakfast the next day! We will definitely dine here again."

It was obvious that it was well-done with out even cutting into it, yet this mistake was never caught. The jumbo lump crab cakes were a serious disappointment....over dry and over shredded! We will not be visiting there again. Atmosphere was confusing."

  • "Some categories above are not checked due to not having the right response...this restaurant is a convenient neighborhood spot that has good/reliable food. Noise level is ALWAYS louder than I would like...service on our night was slower than normal...my family's favorite about Mitchells is the array of appetizers - they are always a winner! My shrimp was average at best but those who ordered the sea bass loved their entrees."

  • "Use to come here all the time. Now 2 times in one month not so good. Took 19 minutes to be greeted after setting down. Was told sorry short staffed. Every one has been promoted. Asked for a bottle of mascata wine sorry we are out. No bread till end of meal we did the twin tails mine were fine except the candle for the butter was out never to be re lit. Hers one was red and good looking And the other was gray. They brought her another and she would not eat it. This is a girl that thinks outback has good lobster tails. What has happen to my favorite restaurant? Best part was the bacon shrimp. That's all."

  • "I have been there many times, having mostly good experiences. My last visit left a bit to be desired. It took ten minutes to get water. My wife sent her food back because her tenderloin was tough (ordered medium), was difficult to cut, and even more difficult to chew. When the cook brought another meal, he said nothing. The waitress seemed overworked and stressed, and also did not apologize for the poor meal. As I have been noticing more and more, the ambiance is not good. It is always very loud. Why isn't there a "Too Loud" selection for the Noise Level? It was not "Energetic", but that was the loudest choice I was given. I will be giving this place a break for a while. Mitchell's may be a better place for lunch than dinner."

We watched the Manager be called to other tables. We enjoyed our free giant piece of carrot cake. The food was good, but the experience was not worth the price."

  • "It was Father's Day and the restaurant was very busy. Our reservation was for 6:30p.m. It took 30 minutes to get our salad and bread and it took another 45 minutes to get our main course. Waiting so long for our meal made the entire evening unpleasant. We would have ordered desert but didn't want to wait any longer."

When we asked "why" the waiter informed us that they were low on bread and instructed to offer only if asked. This was "Fathers' Day." How do you run low on such a day?!!! I go there for serenity, conversation with a love one on special occasion to remember what we have, and not to forget it! The environment there is quiet, peaceful! The servers are so attentive to your every needs, very good at what they do, and food is so delicious to taste, and just right for me, the portion size you can't beat it! I just olive going to Mitchell's market at lease once a week! Would recommend it to all of friends, family, and love ones to go there and have a good time at the same time! Excellent restaurant!!"
