A word from Mistura
Located close to Toronto's Yorkville area, Mistura opened in October of 1997 to rave reviews and continues today with the same ideals. It boasts excellent quality, seasonal menus prepared Chef Massimo Capra's way and served by the professional and knowledgeable team. Mistura is about hospitality that's fun and comfortable, set in an elegant candle-lit atmosphere. A contemporary Italian cuisine reflects a simplified yet refined approach to taste. An extensive wine list, including wine from some of the world's finest vineyards, and an attentive, knowledgeable staff add to the appeal. Perhaps you prefer a more intimate, private setting. Mistura's private dining room holds 14 people, while the semi-private dining room holds up to 40, to cater to your more private functions.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I have no idea why this restaurant is so popular. Every time we have been there over the years we are surprised at how bad it is. This last meal will definitely be the last!"

  • "The meat eaters in a party of 5 were happy with their selection from the summerlicious menu. The Duck starter was a delight to the palate with an explosion of textures and flavours. The strong bold Orata that followed for the main course gripped the taste buds in a dance with the complimentary garnish. The one vegetarian felt totally cheated by the awful salad with too much vinaigrette and limp poorly plated stuffed pepper! I agree with their angst! The service was impeccable deserving of a twenty percent tip! The $60 bottle of wine although very good was way over priced! Overall a pleasant experience for fine dining on a special occasion!"

  • "It had been some time since last we were at Mistura, and we realize what we have been missing. The quality of food is perhaps to be expected at this venue and with this chef, but the size of portions for Summerlicious was surprisingly generous. The server was attentive and professional. A perfect evening for our anniversary celebration."

  • "This was our second time at Mistura (for our wedding anniversary again) and they seem to consistently provide excellent food and service. When we arrived, Massimo was at the front greeting people which is always a great touch for any restauranteur. I think his energy and enthusiasm for great food and service is infectious. It is evident in their staff as they're friendly and attentive. Keep up the great work!"

  • "'Surprise' is how I would describe Massimo Capra's personal touch on every item on the menu. Whether it is a starter, main or dessert. His hands on involvement in the kitchen and at the tables makes all the difference. While billed as an Italian menu, Massimo's imagination has taken every dish to an 'indie' level. Unclassifiable."

  • "Went here on Saturday night as I heard the food was excellent. Ordered more than a few dishes and all was very good. The best of all was the artichokes and red beet risotto. The service was excellent as well and would like to thank Chris my server for a job well done. At the end of the night my kids even mentioned that the steak they had was very tasty and the cappuccinos with the chocolate covered spoon was delicious."

  • "Mistura is the most consistently excellent restaurant in Toronto..I have been to many:--some have great food but mediocre service. Some are hot spots and noisy --Many are just disappointing..Mistura is a class act from beginning to end.The food is delectable--the service flawless--the ambiance relaxing. We return there over and over again for our special occasions in particular. It ranks right up there with the best anywhere!!"

  • "My Husband and I recently had dinner here for his 31st birthday. From the moment we walked in the door (actually, before we had even walked in the door!) we were greeted by exceptionally friendly and personable staff. Our food was BEYOND amazing, and I personally loved that some of the Waitstaff seemed to really know some of the other patrons I could only imagine to be "regulars". We had a really great evening, and will be sure to tell any who will listen of our great experience at Mistura!"

  • "This is one of Toronto's best restaurant that is consistantly great. It helps that the owner and chef is usually in the kitchen. He cooks his fish , meat and pastas to perfection. The menu is always unique and creative, but not over the top. W always leave feeling happy and satisfied by all we eat there."

  • "The total dining experience was superb! The food was excellent, great wine choices, the server was professional, experienced and precise. It was great that Chef Massimo came out to greet the diners. He is a master magician in the kitchen and we appreciate his great work and the quality of the food. It was a very memorable dining experience. I will become a regular now."

  • "Great restaurant for a special occasion dinner to celebrate birthdays with friends. Appetizers of deep fried artichokes and shrimp were tasty and could be shared easily. Scallops were beautifully done to perfection. Panacotta and Summer Tiramasu were outstanding deserts. A memorable dinner for all."

  • "Very pretty, food very good - not excellent - good drinks re taste and portions. Reasonable prices for this type restaurant. Service could have been better - restaurant not crowded so no need to turn tables but felt rushed. As soon as fork was placed on plate after appetizer or dinner finished waiter or busboy immediately removed dishes and next food came very quickly. No chance to relax between courses. Waiter not most personable or friendly, not great on follow up. Would give it another chance."

  • "Although the carciofi appetizer was delicious, the salmon entree fell short. It was raw in the middle. The strawberry tiramisu was a nice ending."

  • "Food was outstanding, high end but not presumptuous. The duck and red beet risotto was one of the best ever tasted. The scallops were perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. The desert brownie was amazing. Service was perfect, not too fast, well paced."

  • "For after opera dinner, it was fine. My husband's lamb was cooked perfectly but I found my sea bass lacking any distinctive flavour - which surprised me as it was a special that night. Everything else was very good. It was a very loud crowd that night - celebrating birthdays and such but we didn't mind."

  • "Great menu with fantastic food. Service was unmatched. They were able to accommodate a change in our reservation time with no hesitation, when other restaurants may have put up a fuss. Thanks for the great experience!"

  • "I had the artichoke appetizer and must say it was one of the best appetizers I have had in long time. I also wanted to try the rabbit as I have not had that for about 30 years and it was very good. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone."

  • "The food and wine were both fantastic. As good as can be for the category. It is not inexpensive 2 couples with cocktail, bottle of wine and aperitif over 5 bills. Older crowd but it was mid week."

  • "A group of 10 middle-aged friends descended on Mistura this Friday night. The waiter Chris was fantastically patient with our group decision-making process, made great wine recommendations and kept the atmosphere light and friendly. The food was some of the best Italian food we had ever tasted, and most of us have been to Italy for extended periods. Capping off the experience was the appearance of Massimo at our table, then we chatted with him at the bar at the end of the night (we were the last guests in the place). While pricey, the food and experience made it worthwhile."

  • "Favourite Dishes; Beet Risotto Pancetta wrapped Cornish Hen Everything on the menu is always absolutely delicious. A great selection of wines for what ever your budget permits. "

  • "The overall experience was in a word, delightful! Cocktails on arrival were accompanied with very pleasant bread and a flavourful artichoke white bean puree. The appetizers, Beet salad/ Crispy artichokes, were such that we could readily split and switch and did. The mains, boneless cornish hen, stuffed and enclosed in pancetta, with roasted root vegetables & a cauliflower puree, looked very good, however my Agnello was fantastic, serviced on the rare side of medium, on a bed of flavourful lentils and garlic rapine, who could ask for anything more? We paired a nice Italian Tuscany wine that we had sampled in Rome. The Arancia with our favourite coffee styles, latte & Americano, wrapped it up for us. DELIGHTFUL!!"

  • "Coming from out of town it is sometimes difficult to find a good place to dine but mistura definitely offered a deliscious meal with excellent service. Servers are experienced and know the items on the menu very well. The staff was professional and welcoming. I am of Italian descent and am very picky at Italian restaurants as I am used to homemade Italian cuisine, yet Mistura has most definitely impressed me! Would definitely recommend Mistura to anyone in Toronto or visiting Toronto that wants a relaxing atmosphere and excellent Italian dining."

  • "liked it quite a lot. expensive but in context of toronto it is reasonable value for an upscale restaurant. service was good. food was good particularly apps. my wife's main (scallop) was very good, mine was not as good (wild boar pasta) - disappointing with not much flavour really. wine was reasonable and reasonable price choices . we will go back and prob just order more carefully."

  • "The food was very good, but nothing special. We had a reservation, but still had to wait a considerable amount of time to be seated. Waiter was nice, but was not overly attentive, maybe the restaurant was too busy, or we did not look rich enough for him. Dessert was disappointing."

  • "Went to Mistura expecting a lovely meal as we'd heard good things. However, the food was underwhelming. The portions were too large, too rich and there were bones left in my husband's fish. The service started out well when we were the only ones in the restaurant, but declined as the restaurant became busier. We were left for too long after we'd finished dessert and practically had to beg for the bill. Definitely not worth the price - we've had better for less."

  • "We three female foodies get together every 6-8 weeks to share a culinary experience. Mistura delivered. The appetizers were outstanding as were our mains. Presentation was creative. Seasonings were lovely. The lemon sorbet was a perfect way to cleanse our palets and finish the evening. The valet parking was worth the money. Our server was pleasant and helpful. This was a special birthday celebration and we enjoyed it very much."

  • "We went to this restaurant with very high expectations. We enjoy fine dining and have no problem paying high prices for a good plate. We tried several dishes and none of them were any good. I should have sent couple of our plates back to the kitchen. The red beet risotto was watery. There was barely any lobster in my lobster pasta and it lacked flavour. All the other plates that we tried were problematic too. I am not sure what was going on in the kitchen. But I don't think we'll go back."

  • "If you enjoy throwing over $200 away on an average meal, then this is the place for you. The appetizer was good, but the entrée was very sub-par and very small portion. The cocktails are overpriced. $15 for an apple martini. No house wine available. My wife and I were very disappointed with our overall meal. Try another place."

  • "We enjoyed a quiet week night evening in a comfortable booth for four people with a good wine selection and excellent food. Each person had a different main course and everything was excellent -- slow roasted rabbit, seared smoked salmon filet, seared N.S. scallops and lamb ribs. The service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was conducive to conversation. We would definitely return."

  • "We visit Mistura several times each year and we are always impressed by their ability to serve great dishes during extremely busy times (such as Summerlicious or Valentine's Day). The quality of the food is extremely consistent. However, during our most recently visit during Valentine's Day, the service suffered slightly. This is completely understandable but if you are seeking a Romantic Dinner at Mistura, visiting during a slow week night may be a better bet."
