Had dinner at the bar this past Sunday which is where we prefer to dine due to the more personal service.. Food and service were impeccable as always. Wonderfully polite and attentive bartender. We decided to do 6 apps instead of 2 apps and 2 entrees... Foie Gras, Tuna Tartare, sirloin carpaccio, portobello mushroom carpaccio, Lobster bisque en croute and escargot (which strangely tasted like it had no garlic when it usually has tons) Either way, that simple difference was overlooked with everything else being so yummy. Thanks as always. No wonder this is where we got married... :-)

We requested a time change and had no problems. Even arriving early they were able to seat us at the table. I have eaten at the restaurant several times and the food is always excellent. Even if there was a slight mixup with my meal (they served me a different steak than my order) I was still very pleased with the quality and overall experience. The chocolate sorbet was absolutely fantastic. Would highly recommend for special occasions.

We got a gift card from my sister and been wanting to try this place. I had lobster bisque and escargot for appetizers, wow! Bisque was wonderful, could have more lobster, but not bad. As for entrees, I had the Duck and husband had the fish, it was wonderful! Dessert, gotta get the sampler that gas a little bit of everything. The seat's were a little close. We might as well have pulled our tables together. Overall it was a great dining experience, great for special occasion.

had dinner at Mistral for old times sake and it was so much better than just a nostalgic experience. Still vibrant, food was wonderful, server very pleasant and professional. ( as one would expect ).Place was packed, but no waiting or awkward gaps in the service. Just a really festive dinner.

  • Good food. Very Bad receptionist.

When we arrived 5 minutes early, there were many available seats in quite and private location. Receptionist assigned the seats near the kitchen where waiters are continuously come and go to serve food. And seats were just next to more than 10 peoples group meeting. It was too noisy and did not give any comfort feeling to enjoy food. I asked to change the seats and they gave us quite and private seats. When there are plenty available seats here and there, why receptionist assign undesirable and noise seats to the customer.

The greeters at the entrance of the restaurant were indifferent and almost rude. We were told our table was not ready yet and were left standing in the entryway with our coats on. We finally asked if we could check our coats and perhaps sit at a table near the bar. We told the host that we felt awkward just standing there. They gave us permission to sit. The dinner service was fine but the servers were way too busy to adequately serve all the diners in their section.

Great food, but quite noisy for a corporate group to speak. We also tried to get in early to set up (and called to confirm that it was possible to do so at 5PM) and had to wait until 5:30 PM to get in and set up.

Brilliantly tasting food, everything was noteably fabulous. Definitely the best filet mignon we ever had in this area. Very difficult to imagine the ambiance, service, and being better. This is a special place, go for it. And it's no more expensive than the other top high-end Boston restaurants.

We went to celebrate our 32nd anniversary. The restaurant is beautiful, the service impeccable. The food was not impressive. Escargot was v very heavy on x maybe burgundy and overpowered the dish. And the risotto was under cooked The gave us a complimentary dessert but their sister restaurant Teatro s food was more impressive

Had Dinner at Mistral, couldn't have been happier with my night. Everything was great, service was exceptional, the waiter made several suggestions, all of which were spot on, the food was on another level, just perfect, everything from the appetizer to the main course and finally the dessert, all out of this world. I will definitely be going back soon, I think it is my new favorite place to eat in Boston!!! I only wish I hadn't waited so long to go there, I have been missing out. I have already recommended it to several people and I will be making a return trip myself in the near future!

We had a wonderful dinner at Mistral last night. The foie gras appetizer, squash soup. and escargots were all outstanding; the duck, rack of lamb, and salmon were first-rate, and the chocolate torte with ice cream and creme anglaise, and the assiette of desserts were great. Our waiter was terrific--very helpful and with a great sense of humor. He brought me a glass of the Malbec I had ordered and another Malbec to compare with it, and in a "blind" tasting I picked the one I had ordered, which he congratulated me on because it was the less pricey one. The other staff were also very helpful and pleasant without being intrusive. The prices are high, but for a special night out, it's hard to imagine a better place to dine in Boston.

Had a very nice birthday dinner with Nizar serving us. Everything went smoothly, loved our complimentary dessert! We did order our pizza with the request of no leafy oregano, but somehow, it often arrives with the unwanted topping. Thankfully, the charge was removed and we did not send it back as wasting good food is just wrong.

We decided to try this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. We instantly noticed the high noise level. After being seated at a two top so close to other guests, we asked to be reseated. We were moved to a four top so that we could sit closer to each other in order to hear each other talk. While the food and service were great, I will not return to this restaurant unless assured that acoustics are such that the noise level does not leave me with a headache. Rather disappointing for a brief trip to Boston!

We had a wonderful time celebrating husband's birthday. We sat next to a couple who were also celebrating a birthday and fell into interesting conversation with them, exchanging contact info. when departing. The food was melt-in-the-mouth scrumptious (splurged on Dover sole, a delicacy); service was impeccable but unpretentious--just right. Restaurant was filled with beautiful people of all ages (this was for late-night dinner). Staff was wonderful remembering to write Happy Birthday in chocolate sauce on dessert plate. We will go back. Actually a good place to take out-of-towners.

I last went to Mistral a year ago and left thinking the place had slipped. Tonight confirmed that assessment. Out appetizers arrived before our wine, we were never offered drinks and my wife had to send her to tough Osco Bucco back and it took so long I ate my meal alone. Even more frustrating was management lack of involvement. When the manager finally brought my wife's meal there was no apology and as he walked away I asked are you the manager? He said he was aware there was a problem and was going to investigate. I am not sure he would have talked to us hoping to get away if I had not stopped him. Disappointed

This was our first visit. I am picky about restaurants and we have a very short list. Frustrated at the shortness of the list my wife picked this spot out, I am glad she did. My wife has a food allergy that is not the norm, the staff went out of their way without any hesitation and really worked to make sure she could have a wonderful evening. This has been met with rudeness at other restaurants but Mistral set the bar and invited us to call in a day to a week in advance and that the chef would take care to make the menu meet her needs! Both our meals were excellent. The risotto was out of this world and the fish very fresh and cooked to perfection. It was the perfect evening for her 50th birthday, we will be back.

The only thing I would criticize is the lighting or the lack of it. Too dark at the table. Otherwise, it was a great experience. When in Boston, we will visit again.

This is one of our favorite Boston restaurants and the first one my husband thinks of when I ask "Where do you want to go for your birthday?" The food is unique and wonderfully prepared and the service is always attentive but not overwhelming. If possible, when making a reservation, ask for a table in the back of the restaurant for more privacy.
