  • "I had been to Mistral in several years. It is likely I won't be returning with so many other choices in the city. Food quality erratic. Caesar salads average and very little dressing on mine compared to the one my guest had. Pan roasted steak cooked to perfection but presentation average as well. Most disappointing was the service. He barely came by and he neglected to bring the second glass of wine I had requested be served with my entree. For the prices and the level they aspire to be it was not up to snuff."

  • "Mistral is one of my go-to favorites when I'm craving excellent food, service and atmosphere. The rack of lamb exceeded even my high expectations for this excellent restaurant. Very generous portion size, perfectly prepared. My companion had the beef tenderloin which was also excellent. The wine selection has a very nice range. The service was, as always, perfection. Mistral is as reliable as it is excellent, never disappoints."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary here on Saturday night. It's a bright, airy space with floor to ceiling windows. My wife had a fish dish that she adored and I had a pork-chop special that was absolutely the best pork-chop I have ever eaten. I had a couple delicious cocktails with the meal and we split the sorbet for dessert. A wonderful night at a lovely restaurant."

  • "We had a party of seven including all ages - Grandma, Uncle, College kids. The food was very good. The thin crust pizzas are worth a try and make a great appetizer to share. Would have given 5 stars to the food but had the chocolate tart which was very average - just your basic hot chocolate filling in a chocolate cake - too much! Will definitely be back."

  • "My husband and I found Mistral 8 years ago on a visit to Boston. Since then, it is a must for dinner each tile that we are there! The food is always outstanding, and the folks on the staff could not be more friendly or accommodating. This past weekend was no exception. The salmon tartare appetizer was a tasty way to start my meal, followed by the sirloin steak, which almost melted in my mouth. We recommend Mistral to anyone planning a trip to Boston. We can't wait to come back!"

  • "Mistral was very good for the most part. I felt that the ambiance was exquisite and the service was near impeccable. The food was where the restaurant missed the mark. I had a caesar salad to start and to put it nicely I have had a better caesar elsewhere many times before. I had the chicken as my main entree and while it was quite good I felt like it was a dish I've had before at other restaurants - in other words there was nothing distinguishable about it. The banana cake dessert was amazing so I'll give them credit there. I'd give Mistral another try for the service alone in hopes the food would redeem itself."

  • "solo pre-berklee concert treat on last day of Dine out. Went with dine-out menu including the wine recommendations and a special starter (salmon tartare). healthy portion of salmon on a avacodo bed, topped with an herb medley of tarragon chervil and parsley and a olive oil and sweet vinegar dressing - loved it.. Main was a very generous pork "osso bucco" which was roasted for 6 hours accompanied with miatake mushrooms and yam polenta. The " le clos" languedoc was perfect with the pork. Desert was a creamy posset with fresh berries which was a great light finish to the meal. Service was friendly, subdued unrushed, but always attentive. Overall treat accomplished !, I'll be back, like a couple near me who'd been there twice that week !"

  • "I have been to my fair share of good restaurants, being from New York City and studying in Boston. I would easily rank Mistral within the top 5 restaurants I have ever been to. I had gone with my boyfriend for restaurant week ($38 prix fixe per person), and the quality was amazing. They did not skimp out at all! The appetizers (salmon tartare and beef carpaccio) were light and delicious-- the flavors were amazing. For the entrees, my boyfriend ordered the chicken and I had the steak-- both were cooked to perfection. The desserts, a lemon posset and milk chocolate profiteroles, were sweet, artful, and light, a great way to finish off the rich meal. Would highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Said my wife...We had a delayed Anniversary dinner...and it was a wonderful evening....Cocktails, appetizers...(gnocchi and wild boar was spectacular), entrees very good...pork Osso Buco lacked a little in flavor...altho maybe just in comparison to the boar...desserts...profiteroles and lemon posset were great. A real treat."

First he dropped the fork on my bag while taking our dished away, then he pour the water on my jacket when refilling the water...... Never go back again since the price is high and food as well as service are not equivalent."

  • "What a nice display of food and service. A nice restaurant, french fries right? But don't knock them until you try them. I wife had the fish and said it was the best fish she's ever had. I don't particularly care for fish and I have to say it was pretty good. I didn't find the wines all that great, but that was the only downfall. The bread, premeal was fantastic with the garlic/rosemary spread and smooth as silk butter. This is not the place to split desserts either, their so good you're going to want it all to youself, the chocolate torte was amazing. Truly a memorable experience."

  • "I was incredibly happy with the food as well as the general ambiance of the restaurant. However, I was a bit disappointed in service. When we arrived for our 5:30 reservation, the restaurant was still preparing and had us wait with the other groups prior to seating us closer to 5:45. When the host had us seated by a waiter, he pointed to my friend and I and 'loudly whispered' to the waiter to seat 'those Asians.' I did not say anything at the time, but I found it incredibly unprofessional. As well, our waiter was not attentive at all, and almost seemed perterbed when we ordered off of the prix-fix, Dine Out Boston menu."

  • "This was by far the best Dine Out Boston experience this year. The carpaccio and salmon tartare were sublime -- perfect combinations of simple ingredients with bold flavors and exquisite textures. The osso bucco fell off the bone, making me question the restaurant's decision to even bother supplying a steak knife. Meanwhile, the steak course was perfectly cooked and generously portioned. The desserts were good but not out of this world; however, we were already too full to care. I would come back here and pay full price, and I would not hesitate to return for next year's Dine Out prix fixe."

  • "My boyfriend and I went here for Dine Out Boston on a Thursday night. The valets were staring right out the doors and still refused to open them for us but I guess it's because they only get paid to open car doors. Walked in to find the hostesses greeting us with some pompous air and were seated immediately. Our waiter was very nice, thought hard to find at times. The salmon tartare was absolutely delicious! The statler chicken was very tender and moist. The boyfriend got the braised pork osso buco which was very much falling off the bone, as it should be. The desserts are not as good as I expected them to be. This is a nice place for a romantic & expensive special occasion. If it wasn't for Dine Out Boston we wouldn't have come here."

  • "Went to Mistral for restaurant week, and as usual, it never disappoints. The beef carpaccio appetizer was amazing, as was the chicken entree. My friend got the steak, which was also excellent. Love the atmosphere, and the service was perfect. Just the right amount of attentiveness but not overbearing. The only downside was the dessert. We each had the profiteroles, which were fine but nothing special. We joked about how we could have bought them at Trader Joes and they would have been the same quality. One more thing - we got a delicious bottle of wine, but didn't realize it was $70! The worst part was when we went to a bar around the corner after the meal, the same bottle was $35. Ouch! Overall, though, excellent meal and will be back."

  • "We visited for restaurant week but will come back again soon. The restaurant week menu didn't excite on first reading. Steak, salmon, pork. But oh, what was brought to the table was exceptional. What could have been a too heavy salmon preparation (mustard, lentils) was meltingly good. The pork, prepared like osso buco fell off the bone, served with soft polenta, mushroom and a rich marsala glaze. The steak was perfectly prepared and seasoned by a pro. Mistral's kitchen is as good or better than any in Boston. Fit for foodies indeed!"
