  • "Our highly anticipated return with out of town friends was very disappointing. Besides the view and ambience, the food was definitely not up to par. We were informed that there was a new chef and that the menu was updated leaving off some of our favorites from previous visits. The former cooked crab cake benedict was replaced by raw crabmeat under the fried egg. This crab lacked any flavor whatsoever and did not look appetizing on the plate, but looked like light gray glue poured out. Our friends order omelets, which turned out to be the best choice as they were fluffy, like a frittata. I'm afraid we won't be back."

  • "The service was terrible. We waited 25 minutes to have a waiter even come to our table to ask for a drink order. Once we finally ordered and got our food, the waiter did not return to our table until it was time to clear it. It was a Monday morning, and there were very few other dining parties there, so I do not understand why service was so bad. I will say that there was a beautiful view. I picked the restaurant because it was on the water and lovely outside. It is, however, way too expensive for the bad service and okay food. (The food was good but not something you could not get elsewhere.) I would not go there again."

  • "Brunch at Mister Collins was one of the worst dining experiences I have had. We were a party of 7 that arrived at 12.30 for Sunday Brunch. The restaurant was not crowded. Our waitress took our order and 2 salads were delivered. Then we waited and waited and waited! After an hour waiting for poached eggs and similar egg dishes, we asked the waitress the reason for the delay and when would the food arrive. She said she didn't know and sent her supervisor over. Her response was to apologize but that she too did not know! The food arrived 90 minutes late and some dishes arrived after coffee.The general managers' response: Sorry! My response: This is a restaurant visited 3 times - 1st time, last time and never again!"

  • "To beat the crowd we had valentine's day dinner on Wednesday this year. The staff was more than welcoming, offering up suggestions at the most appropriate moments during service. We were the only table outside when I whispered to my Valentine that I had orchestrated the whole thing. The view is breathtaking, even at night. Every dish we ordered was better than the last. I will definitely pencil in a brunch for the future."

  • "our food took an hour and when it arrived all the dishes were bland. The person at the next table ordered the same thing we overheard her say " it looks good but its not". The location is relaxing, with views of the ocean, however, the food is very poor."

  • "We stay in Miami every year and like to try different places in the search of the place to make "ours". That IS NOT the place. Good parts first: Service and the ambiance. Views are great and it could be "the place" if not for the food. We had a brunch and the only edible dish was the crab cakes. All the rest (including the potatoes with the crab cakes) tested like 2 days old warmed up leftovers. But not the prices - they were hot. n the way to the car we were asked by the manager (?) how was the experience -- we told him the truth and he explained that they just hired a new chef and things should be much better in the future. That remains to be seen. Send us an invitation when you are ready."

  • "This was my 2nd visit & the restaurant has done 180 degree turn around from great to fair. The restaurant seemed unprepared, more than half the tables were missing, the fried pickles were cold & oily, the carpaccio was frozen to the plate, the fish taco special was tasteless & the mahi burger had so much breading it was impossible ti eat as a burger. Shrimp salade was enormouse with plenty of shrimp. Maybe we caught them on an off day but our concerns fell on deaf ears so we paid half the bill & didn't even stay for dessert & coffee. To bad... good location with possibilities !"

  • "This was our 2nd visit to Mister Collins as we truly enjoyed our first dinner here. This time we brought my parents and we all had a very enjoyable dinner out. With the exception of a group of kids running around the water feature, (Mgr should have taken care of rude idiots) but our server Hillary spoke to them and took csre of the problem. Appetizers and entrees were all good and flavorful."

  • "We spent our 2011 New Year's Eve at Mister Collins, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff went out of their way to give us a great meal, the food was great and the ambience was fun. We were extremely disappointed with our experience this year. The choices on the prix fixe menu were underwhelming. None of the dishes were good. Both of our entrees were served cold. It was clear the service was trying to get us through the meal as fast as possible and serving us food that had been sitting out. Our waitress was uninterested in attempting to make up for any of the problems. We did not even bother staying for the champagne at midnight. It was an overpriced disaster and we will not be returning."

  • "Mr. Collins has been around for a while, but still seems to operate under the radar. Odd, because it boasts quite good food, reasonable prices--particularly for the snooty Bal Harbour area--and a breathtaking view. For lunch and/or cocktails, you can choose either the terrace--admittedly monitored by hungry mynah birds--or the inside bar area. Dinner is served farther along the same corridor, in a dramatic room with windows that look out on the Atlantic. Items that appear on both lunch and dinner menus are priced the same, though dinner does offer some entrees that are only available then. Service was sift and personable at lunch. One word of caution: bring a sweater; the a/c is arctic."

  • "The very first time i went for brunch the food was incredible. It came out hot and quick and the portion sizes were suitable for what you pay for. I ordered the lump crab benedict and my mother ordered the croque madame, both were delicious. Each bite was full of flavor. We also split the pineapple upsidedown blueberry pancakes, we ordered the half size which was still huge! We couldnt finish it all even though we wanted to because it was that stinkin good. The second time we went we ordered exactly the same thing as before but it wasnt the same. At the end of the meal we decided to ask if something was off in the kitchen, as it were the original chef had moved to another state entirely and they were in the process of finding a replacement."

  • "What an excellent idea and a bargain. My only complaint is to the General Manager. How do you set up a South Florida pricey delicacy without any knowledge on how to serve them. NO thin seafood forks to get every last flake out of the shells. NO empty bowl for shells. NO extra finger bowls, napkins or damp towels. We had to explain to the poor server what was required"

  • "Mister Collins was wonderful. The food was delicious and the service was good. No complaints about either. I ordered the braised short ribs and they were wonderful. Someone in my party ordered the pork chop and it was slightly over-cooked but still very good. I only have 2 complaints: 1) it was way too cold in the restaurant so we sat outside where it got cold once the sun went down which made it uncomfortable 2) there is very little/no signs outside of the hotel that indicate the restaurant is inside which made it hard to find. Other than that, it was a great dining experience. The view from the tables outside was beautiful!"
