Mission Beach CafeWonderful experience!Fantastic seasonal food. Great service. Definitely a wonderful evening.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMShabby but goodExcellent food. I selected the sea bass, which was the best I've tasted in the City in quite some time! My partner had the chicken which was incredibly delicious.
Our service was excellent, and then again we were in on a Tuesday night and the crowd was light.
The restaurant desperately needs to be cleaned and/or remodeled. The tan velvet chairs are smudged and grimy (and I'm not saying "a little"), the paint on the walls is dull, the glass dessert case looked like it hadn't been cleaned...ever! And trash bags around the column?6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spotGoing to Black Watch at SFArmory so this was perfect place for dinner. Bit pricey but enjoyed every bite.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, odd vibe from serverExcellent meal for our first time at Mission Beach Cafe. We had theater tickets in the area and the restaurant had been highly recommended by a friend. I don't know much about the regular patrons of the cafe but our server seemed to give off an odd vibe about waiting on us - don't know if this place is more of a neighborhood spot and we were out of place. Anyway, only downside to an otherwise lovely dinner.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMYummyThe food is amazing! I highly recommend this jem. I have been here for brunch and dinner and the food is always exceptional. On our latest visit we were a group of 5 for dinner. The sound level was acceptable. It is a small place and is not quiet but we could hear our conversation. I ordered the mango and avocado salad and the vegetable plate. Both delicious and my plate was licked clean. Others at our table got the burger, chicken, and lamb. All raved about their meals and no leftovers on anyone's plate which I would take as a good sign. Don't skip dessert. Banana cream pie was to die for. Great service to boot and nice wine and beer selection rounds this place out as a 5 star or 2 thumbs up experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experieceThe food was amazing- service brilliant and the wines the server recommended blew our mind!
The only downside- no cocktails5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood GemA pleasant room that was a good fit for its environs, a menu with lots of things I wanted to try, and a cheerful and helpful staff. Plus a great selection of yummy pies for dessert. A very nice experience.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find!We tried the Mission Beach Cafe as our dinner spot prior to attending an ACT production at the Armory. What a great find! The french fries were to die for - garlic fries toped with Parmesan cheese - amazing! The salmon was amazing. We both had it. The wine list was great and the dessert was really good too. They were out of the cherry pie, so we tried the berry pie a la mode. Really good. I think we will be returning.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI had heard a lot of greatI had heard a lot of great things of the brunch at Mission Beach Cafe and was surprised to see they also served Dinner. Their dinner menu did not disappoint. I brought 4 foodie friends and they were in love with the food and ambiance.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and wine selection wereFood and wine selection were great - main gripe was being seated almost 45 minutes after our scheduled reservation. Staff was mostly cordial about it, but little to no apologies were made to our party.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWell-known for brunch, butWell-known for brunch, but dinner's my favorite. Great burger, all California wines. Have only had excellent dishes. Creative use of vegetables definitely a highlight.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile meat eaters would beWhile meat eaters would be more than satisfied with menu options, great options for vegetarians as well4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall but well rounded menu;Small but well rounded menu; save some room for their pie!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA superb restaurant run byA superb restaurant run by a team of true professionals; they're serving the best food with the most sincere of smiles in a place with ambient warmth, character and style. Our new favorite!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my boyfriend here forI took my boyfriend here for his birthday and everything was just as I had heard. The service was friendly and not overbearing. The wine was very good as were the seasonal dishes. It was a bit of a splurge for me, but great for a special occasion.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI got to introduce my nephewI got to introduce my nephew and my best friend to Mission Beach. Both loved our early dinner there! I had the chicken and my friend had the halibut--both great. Nephew had the veggies--always good. They shared the butterscotch/chocolate dessert: my chicken was so rich it was like dessert. The place was packed by the time we left, but there was absolutely no pressure for us to rush. We caught up with the friend who is now in Japan, following her career Navy son and his family.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThere comes a time in everyThere comes a time in every man's life when he eats a burger so good he walks away knowing he could die tomorrow happy, having lived a full life. Okay, maybe a little stretch but that's how I felt after eating the burger for dinner at Mission Beach Cafe. I've had some great burgers in my day but none better than this one. Make sure you order it with the caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms - you will not regret it! As if it couldn't get better than that - order the parmesan truffle fries on the side. One word: WOW! So good. Apple pie was extraordinary for dessert - very unique twist on apple pie and if you are a fan of apple pie...it's a must try. I was blown away by this place especially for the price.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother fabulous meal, andAnother fabulous meal, and the deserts were to die for! Thank you!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA Perfect Dining ExperienceI came in from Carson City for the week and it was the perfect meal for my friend and me. We split two salads (beet and asparagus) and the lamb pasta, with a Mabec for me and a Barbera for my friend. We also shared the goat cheese cheesecake, which was sooo good, quite light and unlike the usuaal consistency of a cheesecake. I also had the Flying Goat Cafe Mocha, which was possibly the best coffee drink I've ever had. Will definitely go again (soon I hope) and very highly recommend it.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMission Beach Cafe is a gem.Mission Beach Cafe is a gem.
