The restaurant was overall very good. I brought a group of 12 with me and we had a good time. My only criticisms is that we waited awhile for food to come out and the restaurant was not very crowded. Also, it seems like you get alot of the side dishes (vegetables and rice/pototaes/grits and not alot of the meat/fish. Many of my guests who had not eaten there before commented on that.

Went there on Christmas for dinner. They had a buffet with a carver for Turkey and Prime Rib. The turkey and prime rib were good, only one server who took care of his buddies but not the unknown like us, but was a service charge of 18% so you couldn't tip accordingly. The martini's were normal price but in a very small glass. The rest of the food was very average. Won't go back

I've dined here numerous times, and as always, Miss Pearl's does not disappoint. This was our first Christmas with our son, and he loved sitting in his high chair, watching mom and dad eating! He did get to taste his first mashed potatoes, and he loved it!

  • Great Holiday Lunch, Nice Service
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006
    Dined on 12/19/2012
Took my team for our holiday lunch on 12/19. There were 13 of us and a number of other groups, so it was pretty loud. They did a great job of welcoming us, getting drinks and refilling often, and bringing out the appetizers quickly. There was a wait for the main course, and our group chose not to demolish the appetizers because they were eagerly awaiting their meals. As soon as the plates were brought out, everyone was happy.Soon after, two of the groups left so the volume went down! They messed up one order -- probably because our server couldn't hear "Pulled Pork" so she brought a "Po Boy" accidentally. They remade the order as a comp to-go as a courtesy. And they retrieved the lost parking ticket for one of our group. Nice service.

some items on the menu are okay but not great. Beans and rice - beans were under cooked- al dente red beans....bad idea, angry mac n' cheese worth a try, ribs not a good balance of flavors- too acidic, fried catfish looks unappetizing, fried calamari is delicious. wait staff is good and great ambiance.

This is a very lively place. They have a quite reasonable happy hour, with the addition of a free wine and cheese option in addition to the various delicious things on the happy hour menu. The hush puppies and beet with goat cheese salad. The dining rooms have a beautiful harbor view. The red beans and rice and blackened catfish entrees were delicious. I loved the the mushroom side dish. Great cocktails and a good wine list.

I went with a group for a birthday dinner. We had a good time and the food was pretty good. However, when we asked for the leftovers to be boxed, the manager - not out waitress - took our plates and our food was dumped. They offered a free drink for the inconvenience, but when I complained that over half of my $25 jambalaya was dumped, he comped the meal.

This is my second visit to Miss Pearl's. The first was with a group of 8 long time girlfriends on a Thursday evening. The place was jumpin', the food excellent as was the service. Those that had cocktails said they were fabulous, those of us who like wine were equally pleased. This trip was on Monday evening for a business dinner and the 49ers were on TV. Very quiet. That said, the service was impeccable, the food, very good. Would recommend for a party or a quiet evening.

This was my second time at this restaurant. The view is lovely but I won't be back. There are several good, albeit overpriced fish selections, but nothing else on the menu is as well-balanced or interesting. The desserts are good, but not the caliber I'd expect of a a fine dining restaurant, more what you'd expect to see at any standard diner (apple crisp heavy on the butter, brownie with ice cream). There are far too many Oakland restaurants with delicious innovative food and quality service to necessitate a third visit.

My husband and I came here for our anniversary. The food was AMAZING!!! The hush puppies, OMG, I could eat them all night. My husband had the fried chicken and I had the gumbo. Both were soooo good. It would also be nice to hang out at the outdoor seating are for drinks and appetizers with friends. They had a roaring firepit going and the bar scene looked like a lot of fun. Def. going back, but for special occasion as it is a bit pricey to make it a regular spot.

    Dined on 10/20/2012
My dad was turning 72 & we wanted to find a place to take him to dinner that he would enjoy. He was raised on Southern food so when I found Miss Pearl's on the Oakland restaurant list I hoped 'good fit'. He's not always easy to please, noise & other factors can ruin a meal for him. He loved Miss Pearl's!! He's lived in Oakland for 26 yrs. & has his favorite restaurants, but he just called this morning to let me know he'll be returning to Miss Pearl's & is pleased to have another great restaurant on his list. I had the seafood stew, which was perfectly spicy, my sister's broiled fish was tasty and quite a large portion, my husband had the excellent gumbo, and my dad said the buttermilk fried chicken was the best he's ever had! I'm so happy

We went to Sunday brunch and enjoyed the food and setting by the marina. At $35 a head for a chafing dish brunch we had expected really memorable food, but that did not happen. The limitless mimosas were not especially good. The omelet station produced three excellent omelets but omitted ingredients requested on another. Some dishes like the ribs and extremely fresh corn salad were appreciated. Our server was attentive but with no host at the front it didn't really seem ready for business (we were there about 45 minutes afteropening ) Expect the 18% tip rate included in the bill, so you can add sny additional tip.

Taking out a deserving couple on a friday night double date, it was fun and the food was good enough. Buttermilk fried chicken and the special tutkey and andoullie sausage gumbo is worth repeating. The pork chop was dry in some parts but was saved by the tomato jam. Alas, after tasting the first gumbo which had a decent kick, the regular miss pearl gumbo is not worth it. The catfish appetizer also gets a bump, but the sweet potato fires arent worth the high $. Drinks are average.

The food and service was great. My only disappointment was that my girlfriend and I moved over to a table for four by the window so we could see the water and the sunset. We were told that the table was reserved for a party of four, so we had to move back. A party of two arrived and were seated at this same table. No explanation or apology was given. So, for my next reservation at Miss Pearl's I will make it for a party of four by the window.

This place is fabulous. I had the buttermilk fried chicken. The chicken was tender and juicy, not greasy at all. Had lots of flavor, my mouth is watering thinking about it a week later. My hubby had the seafood jambalaya and he really enjoyed it. The clam chowder was packed with clams and bacon. You have to try it, one of the best. There was a concert of some sort going on outside so it was a little loud for the romantic ambiance we were looking for. But overall the place was great and we'd definitely go back again.

This was my second visit to Miss Pearl's, both for Sunday brunch. Food was excellent on both occasions, but the service was spotty. On the first visit, our server was incredibly attentive and helpful (without crossing the line into being overly attentive, bordering on annoying). My guest and I opted for the buffet on both visits, and although I am typically not a fan of buffets (especially at hotels), theirs is quite good. The food was obviously fresh and their made-to-order omelettes are delicious. The second visit, our server appeared to dismiss us as soon as we ordered the buffet. Drinks went empty several times, plates were not cleared quickly and overall, we felt a bit neglected. In general, Miss Pearl's is an excellent choice.
