A word from Miramar Beach Restaurant
The Historic Miramar Beach Restaurant & Bar has a long and colorful history going back more than 70 years. It was originally designed and built as a Prohibition speakeasy to serve the liquor smuggled into the Bay Area through a drop off point on Miramar Beach. We have kept the historical ambiance and décor of the 1920s including an incomparable collection of photos from the era. With only a frontage road between us and the beautiful Pacific Ocean, we have the number one view and sunset on the Coast side. Check out our website at www.miramarbeachrestaurant.com.Continued

  • "This is a restaurant we come to at least 2 or 3 times a year. Our most recent visit was an experience we have come to expect from this establishment. The food was outstanding and the service was great! We started with the Thai Chicken Skewers and Diablo Prawn appetizer plates. Both were excellent. For our dinner entrees we settled on Steak au Poivre, Chicken Pancetta, and the New York Steak & Lobster combo. All these entrees were excellent. We skipped dessert so I cannot rate them this time around. However when we have had desserts on prior visits they have been quite good. All in all this is a most delightful place to have dinner -- further enhanced by the pleasant live music provided by Terry Disley -- a regular at this place."

  • "We selected this restaurant because it was close to where we were staying and we were pleasantly surprised. The service started off a little slow but quickly improved. It was a special occasion and we selected the surf and turf which was wonderful, everything was cooked just as we like. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and when we return to the area it will a stop for sure."

  • "Just had a nice late lunch with family members. The seafood chowder is a must have and the pasta dishes were great too. Excellent wine choices as well. The service was okay, neither of our servers had much personality and their accents made it very hard to understand. The inside of the restaurant is quite dated and old looking but the location overall can't be beat with the fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean right outside all of the windows."

  • "We loved the view here but considering the prices, the food left a lot to be desired. The shrimp pasta came with the tiniest shrimp and was drowning in cream. Really not very good at all. Service was blah. Waiter was fine but not that friendly and had to ask a couple times for some things. Overall, I think you're paying for the view here. If I were to go back, I'd probably just go for drinks."

  • "Miramar is an excellent place for intimate dining or groups. The view of the ocean is spectacular. Unfortunately by the time we drove over the mountain from the sunny East Bay, the fog had rolled in and not much view. Still it was very cozy. They also have a really nice outdoor dining space as well with a fire pit and bar and several really nice private dining spaces inside. Food is excellent. Food is well seasoned and ample portions. Great menu, hard to decide what to order. They had a special that evening, Crab Stuffed Salmon to die for! Also, check out their Thursday Night Dinner Specials. Really nice selections and the price is very reasonable. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Miramar and looking forward to going again."

  • "Had a great time. Definitely a place for a date or couples night out. I was on a second date with a woman. We sat outside. Got to see the sunset. That was nice. I had the Paella it was good. Except I had Paella in Spain and it was not that soupy as Miramar's but it was good nonetheless. Claudio our waiter was an excellent server. Had the right amount of attention for our night. Not too much and not to little. Even after paying the bill, my date wanted to hang out and have a few more drinks and Claudio accommodated us and started another bill. He made us felt welcomed when we wanted to stay longer."

  • "As a party of 4, we went on Thursday evening for the Lamb special. We were seated as soon as we got there. Service was quick and efficient. Two of us had the house Lamb special. It was done perfectly as ordered. We had more than enough food and the quality was spot on. We tried the House Cabernet and felt it was a good value. All in all, it was another great meal at the Miramar."

  • "Miramar has never disappointed when it comes to the food and service they offer their customers. The food is always fresh, superbly prepared and served with efficiency. The service is spectacular. Attentive without being intrusive. Overall, Miramar is a great place to go after a day in HMB, a romantic evening, or to celebrate a special occasion. The views of the ocean are amazing from most seating areas and the outdoor patio is a great way to feel the ocean air but still enjoy a great dining experience."

  • "My husband and I went for dinner on Saturday night. For two entrees (chicken piccata and seafood risotto) and two beers, sharing one dessert, our bill was almost $90.00. Way too expensive for the mediocre food. Definitely felt a bit ripped off, especially when we rarely get out just the two of us. Our waitress was very nice, but we will definitely will not return."

  • "I love the history of the building, it is beautiful and has character. When we first arrived, we were seated next to a large, loud party. We asked to move, and it was no problem. The restaurant wasn't very busy so I don't know why they would place a party of two next to a loud large party. ?!?! The location is amazing - right on the beach! We had an amazing meal... wine, thai grilled chicken skewers for an appie, grilled prawns and New York steak for entrees - both of us love our food. Finished it off with a shared piece of carrot cake. The only thing that wasn't great was the service. We may have had a new waiter, but he was horribly awkward. Not very attentive, but got the job done."

  • "Ambiance is great. Very nice, older motif. Service was fine. food very disappointing. Costco bag vegetables and a Costco calimari steak. for me. Expected fresh calimari, not frozen. Would recommend for a sunset cocktail , but certainly not for dinner. Bartender made an excellent Manhattan. Drink prices very affordable. 2 1/2 stars. Not 3"

  • "We had a wonderful meal with exceptional service for our 25th Anniversary Dinner. We enjoyed a drink by the windows to watch the sunset and then enjoyed a cozy romantic meal by the fireplace enclosed with privacy curtains. We were treated like royalty and yet had all the time and privacy we wanted. It was a night to remember. The food was so delicious and perfectly cooked as well--just a delight to dine there!"

  • "We enjoy returning to Miramar Beach Restaurant. The view, the ambiance, the food and the service are always a treat. Generally, we are there at 11:30am -- so tend to get breakfast, though they do have lunch items on the menu, as well. My husband enjoys the eggs benedict and I had eggs florentine (sauce on the side). Fresh fruit adds to the pleasure. We have never been disappointed. We enjoy listening to Terry Disley on the piano -- truly a treat."

  • "Our waiter seemed somber and was soft spoken with absolutely no personality. My wife and I go this restaurant because of the view and the Blackened Salmon Sandwich. The food was great and the views were spectacular so we overlooked the poor/fair service."

  • "We booked this restaurant for the Valentines day weekend. No problem accomodating a change in reservation time and additional guests. They seated us at a window seat as requested and we were very pleased with the menu selections. The food was prepared well with excellent presentation great quality. Wait staff very friendly and informative with menu selections."

  • "another outstanding dinner at the Miramar. The food is very good, with a menu that offers many choices (not just the standard seafood fare). Crab/Shrimp LInguine was outstanding and my Calamari steaks were delicious. very vibrant scene with piano bar, lots of activity at the bar; but, its still offers a romantic dining choice if you get a window table (especially at sunset). the service is top notch. very friendly wait staff, very professional. our water glasses never sat empty for more than a few seconds, finished plates were cleared very promptly. This has become our favorite restaurant in the area, well worth the hour or so drive it takes us. very nice way to end the day after exploring HMB and the coast."

  • "Excellent food and service, right on the ocean. What more could you want?"

  • "I wouldn't recommend it for Valentine's Day, as it was PACKED. Our server was very good, but I could see that everyone there was extremely busy. Not exactly "romantic" because it was so crowded and loud. My chicken was overcooked, but it tasted good, amd my husband's filet mignon was very good. This place is probably better during the daytime, so you can see the beautiful view of the ocean."

  • "Food was okay. Carmelized onion mashed potatoes were bland. Vegetables were unseasoned. For that price I expect to be more impressed with the food."

  • "We have been dining at the Miramar Beach Restaurant for the last 10 years. The food is always good and the view is to die for. Last Thursday (day prior to Valentine's Day) was especially great. The Thursday Night Scallops Special was fantastic and such a value. The wine was 25% off and the service was the best so far. Our server was Rosa and she was on top of it the whole evening. It made our dining experience that much more memorable. We love the place and will be back soon."

  • "As a Coastside local, the Miramar is one of my favorite spots for special occasions. We went the night before Valentine's Day to beat the crowds. Unfortunately, it seems that everyone had the same idea. From the single parking valet to all parts of the restaurant, they were clearly overwhelmed. Food was very slow coming out of the kitchen to all tables. I don't recommend the watery house wine. There was no alcohol sheen on the inside of the glass and no nose. Our appetizer never came, despite the long wait for the entree. The waiter was leaning on the bar watching TV. We were never asked if we wanted more to drink and our water glasses were as dry as a California reservoir. Typically very good - they struck out this time."

  • "Went for the prime rib night. I ordered the meat rare - it came out very dark gray colored and well-done. If you want great prime rib, go to the house of prime rib in the city as the Chef here does not know how to cook meat - Gordon Ramsay would be cursing right now...."
