  • "We have been to Mingo West innumerable times over the years and have always enjoyed our experience, either for lunch or dinner. But last Friday's dinner was special. We were accompanied by our son-in-law and two granddaughters, aged five and nine. It was a beautiful spring evening and the big doors were open to the grassy area and fountain, so the little girls could run and play while the food was being prepared. The service was first rate, as always. I had the halibut, which was delicious and perfectly cooked and a scrumptious side of asparagus crepes with lemon sauce, which I shared with the table. We all enjoyed a relaxed and beautifully prepared repast and went home quite content. Grazie, Mingo West."

  • "Took my lady for dinner. With a reservation, I would have hoped for a real table and not seating in the bar. I believe that made service slower than I am used to. Salads were fine. The stand out of the night was the asparagus and ricotta crespelle in lemon and cream sauce. One of the best dishes that kitchen has ever put out. The pork miale saltimboca was OK. I've had better. I don't remember the second entree. The panna cotta with amarena cherries was creamy as always. The crostata with apples and rhubarb was good. I would not have liked it without the rhubarb and spices."

  • "I can always count on Mingo for a good meal. It's not exceptional, but you will always find something you enjoy. Their salads are particularly tasty and pastas quite nice. I ordered lamb chops medium; unfortunately they came medium rare. After sending them back--which the server willingly did--they came back tough. It wasn't my best meal, but was adequate. They do offer some nice wines which I really appreciate."

  • "The atmosphere was perfect for dinner-for-two, candle level lights, quiet, with a decent distance between tables. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. They knew exactly when to menus, courses, drinks, without hovering. The appetizer was an Antipasto of Italian meats and cheeses - all fresh, good choices there. We had the Salsiccia and Grano Intero pizzas - and they were perfectly delicious. The crusts were tender on the inside, with light crispiness on the outside. Sauces were seasoned nicely with fresh ingredients, without being overwhelming. The wine suggested by the wait staff was an excellent choice. Overall we both had an excellent evening, and are looking forward to returning to this great west-side secret."

  • "I was expecting an expensive Italian style restaurant to have your average dishes (overpriced for pasta and non-noteworthy); however I was greatly surprised at the quality and inventiveness of the dishes. We had a group of 6 and all of us ordered a different dish so I got to taste all of them. Let me tell you that each first bite was a 'wow' moment, the chef clearly knows how to make his/her food sing. Complex flavors which went well together. We ordered the gnocchi, flat iron steak, lasagna, stuffed pasta shells with crab, etc. This restaurant is in my top 10! If you go early (before 7 on a weekday), the noise level isn't that bad, but i wouldn't call this a romantic place since it did get noisy around the time we were leaving."

  • "It's nice to have fine dining in Beaverton and not have to trek downtown for it every time. I'd give the food five stars, but I didn't think my chicken was great... but it was very good. I was there last summer, and for that experience my main dish was five stars. My friends all liked their food and I heard no complaints. The arugula salad with prosciutto and mozzarella was delicious, as were the red potatoes on my plate! Our fancy cocktails were all refreshing and really good. Wait staff were great."

  • "We love Mingo West. We have been going there for years and have never been disappointed. Last week my husband and I had lunch there and enjoyed the usual great food and outstanding service. Today I will meet one of my daughters for lunch. We try to do this at least every other week and Mingo is a delightful place to have superb food and get caught up on each other's lives. A very comfortable, welcoming atmosphere."

These waiters know their stuff. They are friendly, very knowledgeable, and helpful without overdoing it. The pacing of the food delivery is spot on, not too fast, not too slow. They really know how to make their customers feel special. Great place, highly recommended."

  • "This restaurant had good reviews on OT but this was not our experience. I made the reservation at least 2 weeks in advance but when we arrived for dinner we were put in a 6-seater booth in the bar where it was noisy and I had people standing drinking less than a couple of feet from our table. I asked the hostess to reseat us in a quieter area of restaurant and was told, rather abruptly that there were no open tables (I could see at least 6)! The food was mediocre at best - although you should be fine if you like oil, salt and garlic as these were the overwhelming ingrediants both mine and my wife's entree. I had the special Lasagne and my wife had a pizza. Overall, yes, you could eat there and have a reasonable meal but we will not return!"

  • "While the regular menu always has wonderful offerings, Martin cooks up some truly amazing specials daily in the form of lasagne, risotto and ravioli. We had the lasagne, made with pork and cabbage and finished with a salsa rossa. It was superb. This is not the overly cheesy, red sauce lasagne of many Italian restaurants, but rather a delicious combination of fresh flavors and textures that shine when combined with the housemade, light layers of pasta. It will change the way you think of lasagne. Delicious!"

The wait staff was very attentive, and the food, while a little on the salty side, was much better than anything else that I've had at more upscale Beaverton eating establishments. We will definitely be back to try it again, and perhaps get a less salty dish."

The wait staff are on the ball, the service is efficient and non-intrusive, the menu features old-faithfuls and new surprises. The garage doors open in Summer time and eating outside becomes another way to enjoy Mingo."
