A word from Minetta Tavern
Minetta Tavern was opened in Greenwich Village in 1937. The Tavern was named after the Minetta Brook, which ran southwest from 23rd Street to the Hudson River.

Over the course of its long history, the Tavern was frequented by various layabouts and hangers-on including Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound, Eugene O'Neill, E. E. Cummings, Dylan Thomas, and Joe Gould, as well as by various writers, poets, and pugilists.

Since its renovation, Minetta Tavern has best been described as "Parisian steakhouse meets classic New York City tavern."

We hope — and believe — that's a somewhat accurate description of the place.

We brought our young daughter to Minetta Tavern for dinner last Friday and it was easily one of the best dinners we've had together as a family. The hostess was absolutely lovely, warm - none of that "why are you bringing your kid here?" attitude. In fact, quite the opposite. They were amazingly kid friendly. The waiter was also superb. My husband and I agreed that the service was probably among the best we've had in a long time. Good pace, without being rushed, attentive but not cloying. The food is also great and the chocolate shuffle was absolutely lovely.

Geat mixologists, but with the personality of a brick. The don't smle at you, not even when you're sitting at the bar and attempt to chit chat. I thought it was just me, but my girlfriend made the exact comment to me.

The burger was all that it was hyped up to be, albeit a little salty, the accompanying chips were great as well. I suggest to take one of the buns off and don't go straight for the chips, otherwise you wont be able to get to the burger

Ordered duck hash & eggs which consisted of leftovers with that refrigerator taste and sad soggy potatoes, though quite pricey. Only one of the four of us was pleased with his meal -- he's from Tennessee & loved the eggs, ham, and grits -- figures. Ordered a quite costly basket of very good breads etc. but was served one pat of butter for the table of four. Some service issues -- lack of attention.

Great everything except tables too close to each other. We made new friends whether we wanted to or not because the tables were so close they needed to be pulled out by servers if anyone needed to leave for a call or use the facilities. Otherwise the portions were surprisingly large and the food was great. Service was excellent and the ambiance was terrific.

Cote de boeuf is one of the best things that I have ever eaten. Very tender, well seasoned. We also tried the pasta with pancetta, but it was very mediocre. I would not waste my money on it. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate souffle with a scoop of icecream. It was amazing. Highly recommended!

Stopped here for our first dinner in the city. Didn't disappoint, the black label burger truly is worth all the hype. Make reservations plenty early and don't plan in bringing your first date here - you won't be able to hear them. Just do yourself a favour and order this medium rare temperature; it's your duty.

Tried both burgers at our table and aside from the cheese very little difference. The signature burger was ordered medium and came out rare. Was returned. Several waiters came out with our lunch orders, for 4 people, and it took several tries before they got the right plate to the right person. Too much hype

Minetta Tavern is always vibrant and joyfully noisy. This is the place for both the burger addict and the foodie. Weird and wonderful stories are being told at each table, some involuntarily shared with the rest of the room. I love the ambience and the fact that the staff knows how to treat their guests. Last week was a repetition of previous visits. The delivery was solid, again! This is also the reason I bring both friends and business associates to Minetta. They love it, and I enjoy bringing them to a place that tickles their taste buds and boosts their social life.

I came here with my BF for our anniversary. Dimmed lighting with a red overtone set the mood for a romantic evening. My BF ordered the Copperhead, a very well balanced, smooth cocktail that tasted of oranges, cherries and whiskey. For our appetizer, we ordered the Veal Carpaccio. I have had a lot of beef carpaccio, but this was my first veal carpaccio. I must say the taste is a lot lighter than beef and was well complimented by the shaved truffle, artichoke, and reggiano cheese. We then ordered the Cote de Boeuf. It came out cooked to perfection, and each section of the steak tasted different and delicious. It almost melted in your mouth. Pair that with the Champignons, Pommes Anna and bone marrow, Perfection!

I love Minetta Tavern for late nights in New York. We went at 10.30pm on friday night and the place was packed and buzzing. However, there is nothing vegetarian on the menu which is a real shame. They do modify dishes for veggies (e.g. we had the pasta without bacon) but its still quite restrictive and you end up with something kind of mediocre. Still, if you're arriving late its a great place to go.

We went to Minetta the same reason everyone else does- the black label burger. But let's start with the drinks: we ordered a couple each, they were fantastic! Then we ordered an app from the daily menu, tomato gazpacho. Nothing special, light fresh tomatoes in tomato water. Then came the entrees: we split the burger and the pasta za za. The waiter had each entree split for us, the pasta in separate bowls each with it's own egg! So thoughtful! The pasta was incredible! So decadent and rich and flavorful! Definitely my favorite dish of the night! The burger was just good- I didn't see what all the hype was about. The bun was a little soggy, the patty thick and cooked well. The shoe string fries that come with the burger were very good.

Really liked the location and atmosphere. Very cool building and history. However, we were put at a booth in the very back that we could hardly get into because of another large round table in front of us. There were only four of us, but the experience was rushed and busy and not very comfortable. If I return, it would be just to have a drink and appetizer maybe unless we could specify a table. Noise level very high.

This restaurant did not perform up to its billing. While service was good for a pre-theater dinner, and the decor is wonderful with it's 'old time' neighborhood maps, photos and murals, the food was fair to good. The marrow appetizer was unique and excellent, and the trout entree was well-prepared and recommended. However, the 'Black Label Burger', which some say is the entree to order, arrived undercooked - rare, rather than medium - and tasted rather ordinary - though at $28, it should have been anything but that. That said, it's a very popular restaurant, on a wonderful street in the Village, and thus a place that should be visited at least once.

If i decide to go again that is what I will stick with. The rest of the food & the place was good. My friend got the Trout stuffed with crab and she said it was ok.
