Having past Minas numerous times, after seeing a recent play, decided to walk over. I was taken in with the intimate and sophisticated room, but then the service and food kicked in. Everything tasted Real, like fresh regional cuisine should yet often fails at. The Coxinahs were pipping hot and tender with potato and chicken, we ordered more. Roasted beets and heart of palm salads were dressed perfectly, with flavor standing out, not a cloying dressing. We ordered fish in coconut sauce with pepper, beer roasted chicken, ribs....everything came out perfectly and so delicious. Our staff was knowledgeable and friendly...have not had such a lovely meal in a long time.

This was our first trip to Minas Brazilian. We enjoyed the food, which was generous, and the service was very good. Our one complaint is that the music was too loud. My wife and I could talk to each other, but had to raise our voices to overcome the loud music. Even so we would go back.

The food is quite good and the service friendly. We told our server that we had an 8pm concert, but at 7:25 the food had still not come. Within a few minutes, the food arrived: 2 dishes were room temperature, 2 were hot. Something awry between the kitchen and the server I suppose. The food was yummy and we made our concert with about 60 seconds to spare.

I enjoyed this restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Cocktails were very good. Had a nice amount of alcohol. I went with the waiter's suggestion and had a dish made with beef, pork, black beans, rice, and collard greens (sorry, I can't recall the Brazilian name for this dish). I was a little disappointed. The greens didn't have much flavor and the meat was overcooked and dried out. My friend that ordered the pork entree felt the same way. However, another friend had the salmon and another the shrimp and they were very happy with their dishes. We also had a side of the cheesy bread which was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant and i would go there again. But I will try the seafood dishes next time.

I would not recommend this restaurant. The service was terrible, and the food mediocre at best. The wine list is minimal and then the vintage on the menu was not what was brought. I ordered two appetizers, one of which was supposed to be served with my husband's main course. They brought both at once, and then, even once my husband had finished his appetizer, they did not bring his main course. The waiter said he was waiting for me to finish both my appetizers. By the time, they brought my husband's main course, it was overdone and he had to swallow it in order for us to make our curtain time. We won't be back.

My wife and I had dinner at Minas. The main dishes were quite good. Salad was only passable. The room is colorful and attractive, but too noisey for conversation across the table. It took well into our main dish for our drinks to come - we were told the bartender dropped the pitcher of San Grias and they ran out of the draft beer I ordered so I was delivered something else. The server did comp us a dessert and it tasted very good. The table layout was very crowded so our server had to reach across our table several times to give things to the table behind us (their dessert, their bill, a fork, etc.). This place has promise, because the main dishes were very good and price reasonable, but they need to get more professional in ops.

The food and drinks were amazing. Everything from the croquette apps to the stews and seafood knocked my socks off. On top of that the service was incredible and we were made to feel right at home. They pour a mean drink and the scene is vibrant to say the lest. We will become regulars for us. You totally wowed us and won us over.

Went early 5:30. Had spicy shrimp and spicy chicken which I recommend. Both delicious and served with bread to mop up the sauces. Also had a fresh mango margarita and a non alcoholic mixed fresh fruit drink- Both terrific. My roast pork was fork tender and was served with excellent greens and a beef chili. The salmon was fresh although the sauce served with it was a little too citric. Stay away from the house steak & garlic as it was tough and not well tenderized or marinated. Suggest you go for the slow cooked dishes and stews. The restaurant had an intimate feeling and good service throughout. Easy walk to the opera.

This was our first time dining at Minas since its transformation from being Canto do Brasil. There was much to like including the white table clothes, nicer decor and attentive service. However, the quality of the food was uneven with a couple of dishes lacking sufficient sauces and seasoning and the two curry like stews having plenty of well flavored sauce but missing accompanying vegetables that would have provided more balance and diversity of flavor. The highlight of the meal was an intense coconut flan that we all agreed we would go back for.

I am Brazilian and love to eat out and experience new food new spots, unfortunately we don't have a lot Brazilian places to go in SF. Minas is a nice little place: Positive points : great small plates ( tapas style). Tried the yucca, beef w onions and fries, linguica , Rio Royal great drink and Music was very nice. love the art Negative : Not a lot wine to choose from Table was too small for the size of the plates that they served the meals we basically used 2 tables to have our dishes. Place was very bright Need one more server or a bartender that is for sure

Minas is a great place for us to try something new. My wife and I both enjoyed this place very much. The salads are big enough to split and that's what we did with their hearts of palm with quail eggs, red onions and tomatoes. I had a chicken stew called bobo de galhina, chicken in a yucca sauce with cashews, coconut milk and Brazilian spices. This was delicious and came with a creamy coconut rice and chard. My wife wasn't feeling as adventurous so she ordered charbroiled salmon with a passion fruit sauce. Both were wonderful.

On arrival at 5:30 we ordered drinks at once, having been briefed by earlier diners on service here. They were a long time coming despite our being virtually the only guests. We immediately ordered dinner knowing that we had a 7:30 curtain. Finally, at about 6:30 our food arrived. Since two of the entrees were salads and one a braised chicken dish, we could not understand the long wait. The bar with its huge TV screen on a sports channel began to fill with a rather boisterous crowd and the din became unpleasant. The food was tasty. Go, but not if you are uncomfortable with slow service.

My wife is Brazilian and I've spent a lot of time there. The food at Minas is great in a simple regional way. My guest who was an exchange student in Brazil at one time loved it. Danielle our server was sweet. She was from Curitiba in the Brazilian state of Paraná. My only complaint is that it bills itself as a Cachaceria....a place that specializes in the Brazilian spirit Cachaca. While the brand they featured was good, to be a Cachaceria means more options. Considering this is San Francisco...not a big deal but I hope they expand the options. Also, there were no Brazilian wines. Go there and enjoy yourself. Have some Mousse de Maracuja (Passionfruit Mousse) for dessert.

We had a great dinner here before heading to the jazz center. Very good food, and a really nice server who helped us navigate the menu since we haven't had lots of Brazilian food. My only complaint was that they had like three TVs mounted on the walls. No one was there to watch baseball; it's just distracting.

The ambiance is ok and the music is not too loud. Unfortunalety the service was not that good, after serving the food we were not asked if we wanted anything else. However, the food was really good! Tender meat, fine flavors, nicely presented on the plate and the portions were just about right. If you are not looking for a 5 star ambiance accompanied by a 5 star service, but are looking for tasty Brazilian food (don't miss the Mojito!), then you found the right spot!

I thought Burmese and Thai food were my favorite food because they are so flavorful . Now I have a new favorite. Brazilian. Mina's really surprised me and my partner. Normally, you would get served a warm dinner roll and butter while waiting for your order. Mina's served this fantastic chicken pate. OMG! I almost ordered a to go container just for this pate. Then we ordered the 'Fango' chicken appetizer which was served in a garlic sauce. It was totally different from any garlic sauce I have ever had. Then my favorite chicken coconut curry served in a whole pumpkin. YUM!!! Everything was delicious, including the drinks. I would highly recommend this place to all.
