Diner Reviews
  • "This is a top-notch restaurant which provides outstanding food and service. The Mac and Cheese and Hushpuppies are a must...this was my first time going through restaurant week and since they offer the full menu I was able to try what I wanted and my wife and I will definitely be back!"

  • "I dined here for Sunday brunch and thoroughly enjoyed the vast selection and tapas. The buffet spanned from breakfast selections to lunch options. In addition, they present a tapas menu with about 7 or 8 additional items you can order from the grill. The service was excellent and the food even better!"

  • "I had the pecan crusted trout which was quiet good, my best friend's meal not appealing at all! Appetizer rib plate. Ribs terribly charred, pure fat, no meat. We choose a different restaurant each time for restaurant week and decided on Mimosa's this time since neither of us has eaten there before. Sorry to say we probably won't eat there again. Menu needed more options. We were disappointed. The meal was comp-rightfully so and much appreciated. I had previously took my girlfriend to Harper's- South Park for her birthday, wonderful ambience, larger menu selection, thumbs up on food, service!! We thought since your venue is under same umbrella we would enjoy it just as much, but unfortunately that was not the case. Server Lindsay was good."

  • "It was a Saturday night during restaurant week, but it was not busy. Yet, our server rushed through the initial descriptions so fast, noone knew what he said! Then he asked if we have any questions --- before we even had a chance to look at the menu! When our entrees were served, functional utencils (spoons) were not provided. Staff was walking around, but not making eye contact with customers to offer assistance. We had to call out to one wo was walking by. Service needs alot of tweeking. Food is creative and unique. Mussels appie a must!"

  • "Great restaurant week menu. 1st time and will be back."

  • "My party of eight had a "hit and miss" dining experience at Mimosa Grill. Salads were lovely, but a few of the entrees were really not very good. The thing that particularly disappointed me, however, was that our server never checked to see how things were tasting. I ordered the lamb and -- due to its extreme chewiness and the peaches (which accompanied it) being crunchy and flavorless -- set the dish aside, preferring to not eat it. He never once came by and asked about the uneaten dish. When he finally came back to clear, he didn't even ask why my plate had barely been touched. Drinks were good, but pricey. Desserts were a highlight."

  • "Our salads were OK but not great. Our entrees similar. Food was average at best. A place with a great atmosphere and location should have wowed us for the price. For dessert, I had the blueberry crumble, it was so hot it burned me. Server didn't warn but the interior was steaming. Came in a jar. It should have been processed less time in the oven so it wasn't burning me. It tasted good once the burning problem decreased."

  • "This was a birthday occasion during restaurant week and one of several other visits made previously. Fortunately, during restaurant week, Mimosa does not create a separate menu for the occasion, allowing choices from the regular menu. That is a major plus for both options and the opportunity to see the restaurant perform as it normally would. The food is always well chosen and presented. This occasion proved that once again. We thoroughly enjoy the food, the service is always immpecable, and the deserts are interesting, though not always of the highest quality. We will definitely return."

  • "We've dined at Mimosa Grill several times and my husband has had a group business dinner there. The decor is very well done with expansive views the outdoor dining patio and of the plaza beyond. The use of stone in the restaurant gives you the feel of being in a lodge like atmosphere...very comforting. The food and service has always been consistently wonderful. Ironically, we have had the pleasure of being served by Chris on every visit. He is the best waiter...efficient, very pleasant and keeps an eye on you without hovering but always there when you need him. He even called us one evening after we left the restaurant because he had forgotten to give us some information...now that's service! Mimosa Grill has become one of our go tos."

  • "We were a group pf six who arrived a half hour later than our reservation due to traffic conditions. We called ahead and the restaurant saved our table even though they were very busy and could have used it. When we explained to the server that we had theater tickets and that our tardiness meant that we were in a hurry, she did a great job of getting everything we requested promptly. She was excellent as was the food."

  • "During a layover in Charlotte, my husband and I had Sunday brunch at Mimosa Grill. The buffet brunch selection was decent. We enjoyed the shrimp and grits. We couldn't get enough of the items on the Tapas menu! My husband had the French Toast and I had the Southern Eggs Benedict. The egg was cooked perfectly, oozing as I broke into it. The rosemary ham was an interesting twist that worked perfectly with the small portion. The Mimosa Omelet which was cheesy and tasty with the foraged mushrooms. The Mimosas were very reasonably priced, but we really dug the Moonshine Sangria. Our server was friendly and informative, but got distracted at times. There was a large party which led to a very noisy dining room."

  • "My wife returned from a five-day business trip, to the mess of reconstruction at the Charlotte Airport. Mimosa provided good food and great service on a very slow Sunday evening. The jambalaya recipe was just right with good Cajun flavors. Only wish there more lighter options, including vegetarian choices, oddly minimal in a restaurant that brags on its fresh seasonal fare."

  • "What can I say but delicious! A friend wanted to try out the brunch so off we went. Once seated we were told to go ahead and enjoy the buffet. Every last thing looked appetizing so I tried a bit of most things. Bacon, eggs, hash browns, string beans, cheese and crackers, tarts, salmon, you name it. They even had mac and cheese! Everything was so good. My one criticism is that they also provide a small menu at the table from which you can order a la carte (in addition to the buffet and included in the price). Never having been there before, we didn't know that an our waitress did not explain that fact. Late into our dining experience she asked if we wanted anything from the menu and then we realized what an opportunity we had missed."

  • "The bacon and sausage on the buffet were not cooked sufficiently...we had to request our server bring us both...also, the food was average at best....the service was very good and the atmosphere was fine...however, the food was not worth $25 a person..."

  • "The menu selection was very diverse offering something for everyone. From apps to dessert, everyone in our group was very pleased with our experience. Road warriors from both coast enjoyed the meal and would recommend this restaurant for a business dinner."

  • "I've eaten a number of times at Mimosa and never been disappointed. This time I had the fall-off-the-bones short ribs, which were delicious! Service was attentive without being annoying. Very enjoyable evening."

  • "Mimosa Grill is great for Uptown Charlotte employees. It's within walking distance of our offices. It's also a great spot for a special occasion - anniversary, date, etc. The menu is Southern-infused. I enjoy the shrimp & grits and crab cake appetizers. (Both should be offered as full-portion entrées, too - so delicious!). Beware of the lobster macaroni cheese appetizer. It's so heavy that you might not have room for your main course. It would be better to share this appetizer."

  • "The food was great for Sunday Brunch on Fathers Day. The shrimp and grits were the favorite of the day. We may just make this a tradition because my dad loved the food so much!!"

  • "We had a very relaxing dinner at Mimosa Grill. It was pleasant to sit outside and enjoy the fountains near by and to hear the sound of the Charlotte symphony from down the street. My husband and I both enjoyed our meals-full of flavor and not too much food. The white asparagus with strawberries and greens was very tasty as was my husband's beet salad. The steak we chose was flavorful, but a little undercooked. For cap off the dinner, we ordered a pecan pie which was served warm with gelato--yum, yum."

  • "We stumbled on to Mimosa Grill based on reviews but somehow we didn't realize that their Sunday BRUNCH is SPECTACULAR. The food is a diverse cross section of both breakfast and lunch food and really great flavors. The service was good (not great, but it was a serve yourself brunch after all!) And when it was finally time to order mimosas (we still have blue laws here in NC), they were really good and quite inexpensive. We will absolutely come to Mimosa Grill again for another meal and it will probably be for yummy brunch."

  • "This was my first visit to Charlotte and after researching every restaurant in the area, I was glad I made the right choice for a nice dinner on the town with my mother. Everything on the menu was terrific, the wine list had a nice variety, and our server was excellent. She took time to go over some of the favorites and answered all of our questions. I had the special which was the local tile fish with a succotash and it was fantastic. I love to find a restaurant that uses local farm/sea to table ingredients. I only wish there would have been more lobster in the lobster mac and cheese, but it was still delicious. I will definitely visit Mimosa Grill again!"

  • "This is my go-to place for business meals or for first-time visitors to Charlotte. "

  • "We have eaten here on four trips to Charlotte. The location is very convenient to many downtown attractions, and parking garages are within easy walking distance. The tables are nicely spread out so that you can have a private conversation but there were also several large groups accommodated. Excellent selection of wines by the glass, including some unusual choices, as well as a very fine list of wines by the bottle, at reasonable markups. The food is "new Southern": regional produce and seafood, along with the meat and poultry dishes; there are some vegetarian selections as well. The Southern influence comes through as well in the warm biscuits with butter. Desserts are small, rich and intensely flavored; the coffee is excellent."

  • "We have been going to the Minosa for many years. It is always my first suggestion for any special occasion. The quality has always been the best."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Atmosphere is very upscale as is the menu; very local oriented.we were dressed casual as we were going to the baseball game. About half the restaurant looked to be doing the same, while the other half was dressy and celebrating life events. All fit in well and were treated equally."

  • "This was our first time dining at Mimosa Grill. We had a party of 6, including two children. The service and food were wonderful, and although there is no kid's menu per se, the server was very accommodating in having a flatbread cheese pizza made for one of the children. The appetizers of pulled pork and stuffed hush puppies were tasty. We ordered a variety of entrees, including the pork chop, chicken, fish, and steak, and all were delicious! The crème brulee with a candied orange peel garnish was a yummy finale. I would highly recommend this restaurant for dinner or any special occasion."

  • "Beet salad awesome, crab cakes so salty couldn't finish. Portions are perfect, not too large. Dessert selection disappointing. Only banana creme brûlée did not have nuts. Had the pecan pie, it was so hot the first bite seriously burned my mouth. Server didn't warn but the interior was steaming. Filling tasted flat, pecans tasted old. Have dined here numerous times before and had exceptional food. This visit will make me rethink returning."

  • "Everything was delicious. The fennel sausage pizza was outstanding. Steak was smoky and charred -- delectable. Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, and loaded mashed potatoes all had an extra something to make them special and memorable."
