Diner Reviews
  • "We went to Mimosa for Sunday brunch. We enjoyed a great buffet with additional items cooked fresh when ordered."

  • "Overall great service and good food. Food would be considered "great " however the fish portions are slightly undersized."

  • "Every time I am in Charlotte on business, I try to find a reason to eat at Mimosa grill. I've been there dozens of times and it's always great. I had the lobster Mac and Cheese at a business lunch. I wasn't even that hungry and I scarfed every bit of it. Wow!!! Was that good."

  • "Very nice menu, plenty of good wines by the glass, helpful with special diets and food allergies, sensitive to getting out in time to go to a nearby show. Beet salad and Mac and cheese are awesome! Shrimp and grits was adapted to be Gluten free! Excellent wait staff."

  • "Need to change the entree choices, not enough variety, otherwise good."

  • "Service was prompt and she continued to check in with our table throughout the lunch. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Lunch was suburb and delivered surprisingly swift considering the complexity of the dishes. One of us order the fish special, the other Shrimp/Grits. We tasted each others meals - both were home runs. Beautifully presented, lots of flavor yet nothing overpowered the dish. Yumminess through and through. I need to check them out for dinner. I'm already looking forward to making a reservation :)"

  • "Group of 8 friends for dinner - hadn't been to Mimosa in a while - It's back at the top of the list! Food was very good and service was Too - thx Justin! Highly recommend!!"

  • "Of all the wonderful restaurants in Charlotte, this is our favorite. We especially like the creative use of local products."
    Dined on 4/3/2014
  • "We found the food to be heavily salted. The beet salad and crab cakes were quite good but it was all downhill after that. The lobster Mac and cheese was salty runny cheese. All the vegetables were salty. Everything tasted the same. The server was attentive but never really asked "How is everything" and we never said anything. For that kind of money I want to experience a pleasant evening and not deal with the hassle and drama of complaining about food. I do hope this was an off night and not the usual but for that kind of money we will not return. There are so many other restaurants out there that do gourmet southern food well."

  • "Another great meal at Mimosa. Service was not rushed. Food was superb."

  • "Looking for a good meal before going to listen to some great music Mimosa is always a guaranteed safe bet for a great meal, with good ambience and solid wait staff who provide first class service."

  • "Mimosa Grill offers everything that you can possibly ask for in a solid brunch restaurant: - Valet Parking - Outdoor seating - Lovely decor - Reservations - Excellent service - Delicious coffee - Brunch-friendly adult beverages - FOOD! Hot, fresh, delicious, and great selection (without being overwhelming!). Breakfast foods, FABULOUS Shrimp & Grits station, carving station, lunch items, breakfast pastries, and desserts. - "Small Plates" menu of cooked to order items such as omelets, benedicts, and french toast. Order one or sample them all! They also have a quiche of the day. Tapas items are included with the buffet price. - Value for the price. WORTH. EVERY. PENNY. I've already made reservations for Mother's Day!"

  • "The craw fish hush puppies are a must. We also had the fish special of blackened mahi...cooked to perfection and very pretty presentation."

  • "We were very surprised that on a Saturday night it was not crowded. Food was very good but our server was lacking. After asking for bread, we never received any which was very disappointing."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Crab cake stack was great and came quickly - which was great for lunch with a meeting immediately after. Server was attentive, but not fussy and got us out on time. Thanks."

  • "Seriously in a restaurant that has champagne on the menu to not have the proper glasses is ridiculous. The short ribs are very good-- much better than the service. They need to try harder"
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "My wife and I had the short ribs and the fish(striped bass) special. Both were excellent. as was the wine list. The service was very good, with a pleasant waitress. Surprisingly, although there seemed to be a nice variety of options, there was not a single chicken dish on the entree menu! This was OK with us that night but a half dozen seafood options and zero chicken seemed a little unusual. I have eaten here before and will not hesitate to do so in the future."

  • "My friends and I were in town for CIAA Tournament weekend and decided to celebrate a 40th birthday for a friend there. The appetizer (flatbread with sweet potato) was yummy and our entrees were tasty as well! we shared a dessert since everyone pretty much couldn't eat much more. Our servers were attentive and answered all of our questions. A great experience overall. We will definitely dine there again in the future."

  • "The mussels taste like bacon, but there was none. The recipe used smoked tomatoes. Lovely... The waiter was very nice and patient. The Salmon was to die for and so were the scallops. I learned about Roman gnocchi, one big potato joint versus a bunch of small ones."

  • "After a lovely weekend in downtown Charlotte, we topped it off with Sunday brunch at Mimosa Grill. The buffet was diverse and plentiful. The made-to-order small plates dishes were a delicious addition--best eggs benedict I've had in a very long time. And the service was friendly and knowledgeable."

  • "Mussels were outstanding. They are listed as an appetizer, but they could be an entree. Beet salad was also very good. Presentation was great. Pecan trout was a good choice for an entree."

  • "In town visiting a friend and was refereed to try mimosa grill. It took me a while to find the location, since it sits back in downtown building and courtyard, but once I found it my dining experience made up for the driving in circles. The bar waiter was very pleasant in recommending a beverage and starter. Both were very good. And once seated at our table, the waiter there was also very friendly and helpful on ordering"

  • "Great food. Yummy French toast from the brunch menu. Can't find a more reasonably priced brunch with great food and excellent scenery. This was my second visit and I intend to come back whenever I am in Charlotte."
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "Restaurant atmosphere is very nice, food was very good, service was excellent. The only thing that I did not like we're the tables for two which shared a booth seat with another table 10 inches away. It almost seems like you are sharing a meal with people you don't know on both sides of you. Not romantic. Request a table or no-single booth seating and you will be happy."

  • "One of the best brunches I have ever experienced. The buffet with the included tapas menu is absolutely wonderful. We will be going back often. I'm really glad a friend recommended Mimosa a Grill to us."
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "Outstanding ambience. Even better food. The North Carolina trout was amazing. Will definitely be back."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Service was great, some of the best I've every experienced. My only complaint was that for the price of the steaks they should have melted in your mouth, they didn't. Usually locally grown beef is some of the best. My wife had trout and it was great."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "It was my first time there and my wife and I enjoyed everything! My wife and I do have allergies and they made sure we were well taken care of! Everyone was nice!"

  • "After making reservations through OpenTable, I would expect to get a seat other than in the bar area. I was disappointed to get one of the 5 booths near the bar with extra noise and only one other couple in a booth. The food was good, but not great. The sausage in the pork trio dish was crispy to the point of tasting burnt. However, the pork belly and pork loin were great. My date enjoyed the trout, and thought the potatoes were excellent. We will go back, but won't be a big hurry. While there are some critical comments in the overall review, it should be noted the server was very nice and did the best she could to make our night great."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We had 3 appetizers - all were delicious. We had 6 entrees - two of them, the pork and the fillet, were cold and undercooked. Service was excellent."

  • "I went her with a friend before a concert. The waiter immediately asked about the food allergy I indicated when I made the reservation and went out of his way to ensure I had no problems. Had the salmon, which was excellent. My friend got the mussels as usual and loved them. The coffee was very good and the wine was awesome! In all, it was a very pleasant meal. Life is good!"

  • "When I was working in uptown Charlotte, Mimosa was a regular lunch time stop for myself and members of my team. It served consistently good food and the service was always great. My most recent visit (2/5/2014) was the same except I was a bit taken back that they would not seat us (with reservations) until everyone was there. I don't remember that as the policy from my past experience. Regardless, the food was great. The service was excellent, and the price still fairly reasonable."

  • "Very nice brunch spread and the tapas were excellent. Buffet items were not very hot. Food items were replenished promptly."

  • "I just moved to Charlotte and tried a variety of restaurants on Restaurant Week. Mimosa grill was the BEST by far. I loved that the entire Menu was an option even with the supplemental fees. I was very impressed with the quality of my food and presentation."

  • "It's an awesome getaway from the cheeseburger and fries. I absolutely loved the food it was savory and melted in my mouth. Mimosa Grille is fine dining at its best."
    Dined on 1/26/2014
  • "Comments from the four of us .... The short ribs practically melted in the mouth and flavor was fantastic. Faroe Island Scottish Salmon was great as usual ... it's my favorite. Sorghum glazed brussels sprouts are worth trying, wonderful with the crispy bacon bits. MG Hummus was very fresh and smooth, traditional taste with zippy toasted pita, fresh summer squash and olives."
    Dined on 1/26/2014
  • "Great service! Short ribs were a little dry and the shrimp/grits not up to usual excellence due to grits being fried! Deserts were just good vs. what we expected."
    Dined on 1/25/2014
  • "Biscuits tasted like cardboard, shrimp and grits had been reinterpreted to the point it shouldn't carry the name, and the cheesecake had the consistency of a jello fridge cheesecake. I was overall shocked by the poor quality of the food. I hadn't eaten here in a while and remembered it to be quite good, however given this dining experience I won't be back. There are to many other satisfying options in Charlotte."
