  • "we found the food to be excellent. we are unsure why it did not have enough customers. the ambience was pleasant and the staff were very attentive. I think the place needs more advertising to draw the customers to come."

  • "Glad we didn't let mixed yelp reviews deter us. This was a really nice experience with great food and excellent service. Pros: Crabcakes with yuba and bruchetta appetizers were both very tasty. Bruchetta had some amazing balsamic vinagrette that was ono. Penne arrabiata and Carbonara main dishes also both excellent. Arrabiata for me was better than Bernini's similar dish - spicier and more garlic flavor, with lots of eggplant. We sopped up every last bit of our sauces, had no room for dessert :) Waiter Alex was very attentive and eager for us to have a great experience. Cons: glass of chardonnay was only 1/2 pour, looked stingy in big glass. Also was hard to get extra bread Overall will be back, it was really an enjoyable meal."

  • "I was so glad I ordered the recommended special, the veal scallopini in marsala sauce. The meat was done just right, tender and moist. It was surrounded by a wonderful assortment of vegetables: asparagus, yellow & red peppers, brussel sprouts, okra and mushrooms. Mmmmm, mmmmm, good. My husband had the lobster linguine, which he said was the best he's ever had at any Italian restaurant. The Donnafugata Sedara glass of red wine went perfectly with my meal and sharing the cherry custard tart at the end with hubby made the end to a magnificent repast perfect. Service was impeccable and the noise level was moderately quiet enough to have a decent conversation with my husband. Five stars for all categories!"

  • "when making the rez on opentable, there was a section asking if there was any occasion being celebrated. I indicated it was a birthday luncheon. when we got there the greeter did not check the log...guess it wasn't busy yet but still seated us at a good table. throughout the lunch no acknowledgement was made about the birthday. that's why I ask, why ask if nothing "special" is going to be done and leave us disappointed?"

  • "I've always wanted to try this place because I love Japanese Italian food. The pasta dishes were very good and surprised that the steak was so good too. The original teriyaki sauce for the steak was awesome. I could pour it on rice and eat it. The dishes that the food came in were really nice. I would like to go again the try the uni pasta that they didn't have that night. I ordered a glass of wine, wish they could have filled it up to at least half of the glass. The Birthday tiramisu was really good and presented really well."

  • "Crab pasta was the winner. A little spicy, not too much tomato sauce, lots of crab meat. Excellent service from Alex/Alexi, from Siberia. Corkage is $20. Hot Deals Hawaii coupon only valid on weekdays, but that includes Friday. Prices are reasonable. Portions are standard, bigger than other Japanese/Italian places."

  • "food was terrible. we had salmon and seemed like the entire bottle of salt was thrown on the salmon too salty. we exchanged for scallops and then we got that dish and no seasoning on this dish. terrible food. the assort vegetable with this scallops was gritty. not good !"

  • "Waitress and waiter worked together as a team to provide great service. They were walking all over the floor, making sure everything is ok and also available to talk. Food is gentle taste like Japanese kaiseki which I like it a lot. Near the window is little warm. Outside may be nice but next to busy street, though."

  • "Everything was so much better this second time that we frequented the restaurant. The food was excellent though there was more gristle than one would have expected for a rib-eye steak. My husband was quite taken with the Dungeness crab linguine that he ordered, saying there was a lot of crab in the serving, although the meat was probably frozen and not from freshly caught crab when it was cooked. The waiter was a charming European who recommended just the right wine to pair with my dish. The black cherry tart which was a new dessert was wonderful."

  • "Three of us dined at MimSuya on a Friday evening as a birthday celebration. We all agreed that the food was delicious. We were surprised that for aFriday evening, so few people were dining here. The service was excellent. I ordered a glass of Merlot but they did not have that, so I settled for a Pinot noir which was very good. "

  • "We read in one of the top japan magazine that this place was great, we booked a table for 8 pm. When we arrived the restaurant was empty except for a table of 4 who left soon after. The service was very friendly, but to be only 2 customers make it a strange experience We ordered some seafood pasta and steak. Original presentation but taste was really disappointing , not worth the money "

  • "Because of the Kyoto influence on the food, the flavors were subtle, not bold. Knowing this, we enjoyed them for what they were, altho' I did notice my husband sprinkle a little salt on his Dungeness crab linguine. The pre-fixe dinner I ordered was excellent tho' a little pricey for the quantity presented. We went to the restaurant when they had just opened, so there were just a few people and it was quiet and nice. The tables were elegantly decorated, with plush red seats. This restaurant has large glass windows and it gives a great view of the outside----unfortunately the it looks out on a busy street. The service was very good but very slow. "

  • "We had an early dinner on a Sunday evening. We were the first diners. A few more diners entered but as a whole, the restaurant remained quite empty for the rest of the evening. I had a scallop & spaghettini dish which was quite tasty. My friends also enjoyed what they had ordered. Before our main dish, the three of us shared two salads,, both of which were delicious. For dessert, we had a cheesecake (very good) and a tiramisu which the three of us shared and enjoyed."

  • "First time going there, did not know it is there until seeing it on opentable. Very nice atmosphere, food is good. There is parking underneath but elevator was broken so you'll have to walk up some stairs, otherwise very nice location. Very friendly staff. Mushroom soup is good."

  • "Service was good - friendly, but not hovering. Our waiter could have used a bit more knowledge of ingredients in the dishes but she always came back quickly with information from the kitchen. The food was well-prepared and very tasty, including the "Roman style" chicken stew and two delicious pasta dishes. If you like vegetables, the Bagna Cauda appetizer was a generous serving of perfectly prepared vegetables with a very tasty bagna cauda sauce. Our group will definitely return to Mimasuya!"

  • "I selected this restaurant to celebrate my birthday after driving by and seeing it, AND reading some reviews. The ambiance is good (at least no umbrellas were hanging upside down like before), and we were early so only 3 tables were occupied. The food was just okay. The best part was the nice birthday dessert of tiramisu they gave me which was exceptionally presented, and it was good because it was not so sweet. I am not sure if our waiter was new at his job but he was a nervous as heck. All in all, it was a disappointing experience because my expectations were high based on the reviews I read."

  • "Great hidden restaurant on the midst of Ala Moana congestion without the congestion. Lots of parking under the Uraku condo and free. Food is great not oily like other Italian restaurants where the pasta is soaking in olive oil. Service is friendly and very accommodating. A great place to take your business client for either lunch or dinner. I've dined there several times already and very consistent. Just love the prixe fix meals."

  • "Tried it on a whim from dining out. I was so happy that I did. The atmoshpere is great along with the food and the wait staff if excellent. I liked it so much that I bought a give certificate for my daughter and her husband for his birthday. Would definately go there in a second and I will recommend it to my friends.   • "I eat out a lot. Not always at fancy restaurants, but I've been to many. The experience at Mimasuya was one of my all time favorites. I appreciate delicately seasoned food. The type of preparation where the sauces don't overwhelm the food's natural taste. I found that at Mimasuya. The food was prepared with quality and was absolutely delicious. I had the Pasta Course. From appetizers to dessert, I enjoyed every bite. Kudos to the chef."

  • "This was our first time to Mimasuya and enjoyed our experience. Kana was our server who was friendly and very attentive. We were one of the first few diners through the doors and were received by the hostess right away and sat us at a nice table by the window. The Chefs choice appetizer was awesome! Highly recommend. Entrée was so so but I ordered rib eye which probably isn't the best idea in an Italian restaurant...should have had a pasta dish. Overall a real nice experience and would recommend others to try for the experience. I will go back again to try some pasta dishes like I should have. Go try it!"

  • "I had high expectations based on what i saw on their website. The setting was very clean, with a contemporary romantic feel to it. But the food flavoring just didn't impress me. The food wasn't bad, the textures were all correct, but there was nothing special about what we ordered that begged us to return. They did have some interesting and eclectic menu offerings, but we didn't even bother. It could just be that my over-stimulated tastebuds are uncouth."

  • "Great Japanese created Italian food with good sized menu. Would definitely return for pasta-inly drawback is service is on the slower side especially when having several courses. Make sure you visit with someone you have a lot to talk about with."
