A word from Milwaukee ChopHouse
The Milwaukee ChopHouse began its critical acclaim six years ago. From the beginning it has earned a reputation for providing a spectacular wine list, a consistent classic menu, all while being delivered by some of the best service professionals the city has to offer. Our cellar is extensive and well thought through. With a list that was honored by The Wine Spectator with the Award of Excellence, how can one not find the perfect choice? The menu is a reflection of its classic steakhouse atmosphere. Some of the best steaks and chops are served along side the freshest seasonal seafood. Located in the heart of downtown, the Milwaukee ChopHouse is within walking distance of the theater district, sports venues, shopping and the lakefront.

Since the closing of The Boulevard Inn, I have been in search for a favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. Dining for the second time at Milwaukee Chophouse Saturday night confirmed my hunch that I would have a new favorite. Everything is what you expect from a high-end restaurant from the greeting by the hostess to the last sip of your after-dinner-drink. It is nice to have a high-quality dinner and not share the conversation of the adjacent table.

We enjoyed our first visit to the Milwaukee Chophouse. The ambiance was very pleasant. The staff was very attentive. The food was delicious. We both enjoyed the filet mignon. My husband loved the sautéed mushrooms; I did not care for their flavor. Pricing is similar to other Milwaukee steakhouses. The only downside was being able to hear a loud drinker in the bar from our booth in the dining room.

The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Megan took excellent care of our party ensuring we had an exemplary experience. The steaks were cooked perfectly, the grilled asparagus melted in your mouth and the creme brûlée finished off the meal with the perfect blend of sweet and creamy! We would highly recommend the Chophouse for a relaxing, memorable evening.

Wants to be an upscale steakhouse but not quite there. I had the porterhouse and it was very good. It wasn't great though and that's what I expect when paying +$45 for one. Overall it was a decent place, service was very good.

We enjoy Milwaukee Chophouse occasionally when downtown. The décor is spot on, a classy city steakhouse. Our waitperson, Ono, was great - knew all about everything on the menu and winelist. We've had her before and appreciate her service. Cocktails were well-made and generous. Wedge salads could have used more dressing and bacon. Steaks were cooked to perfection and very tender. The only fault is that they were a bit salty, a byproduct of the crusting process. We didn't have time for dessert this time.

We had a very nice dinner. Food was great and our server, Joe, was very good. Limited wine list, which is surprising and very expensive cocktails. Everything is a la carte, so it adds up quickly. There was a very cold draft from the ceiling blowing on me the entire evening which cooled the food off far too quickly.

We requested the prime rib to be prepared medium and it was well done. The filet we asked for medium rare and was way too rare. It was also prepared with cracked pepper which I didn't ask for nor did I recall our server telling us it would be prepared as such.

She was very knowledgeable about the menu and also the specials. We were celebrating all of my "kids" birthdays and at the end we received 2 different large pieces of cake to share between the 6 of us. We definitely will be returning in the future

The atmosphere at the Chophouse was very nice. I took my wife here for our anniversary and was very pleased. The staff could not have been anymore helpful or friendly. I had the chophouse salad and was amazed. They started us off with homemade bread with four different options, salted butter, oil, a tomato based spread (which I enjoyed) and a cheese type spread. I ordered the larger fillet medium-rare, however it was a little more on the medium side. Not the best I've had, however I would definitely go back. I cannot say enough for the staff, simply made our trip to the Chophouse worth going. Oh, and even though we didn't order a dessert, our waitress surprised us with a light wonderful creme brûlée that had happy anniversary on the plate.

... But there are much better to be had elsewhere. While I can understand that the "Downtown Dining" event may tax any restaurant, better care should be taken of customers needs. From getting "starting" drinks to getting the check, our experience was less than stellar. After waiting 20 or so minutes after being seated, a waiter finally approached us & asked if we would like a drink. You'd think their "award-winning wine list" would have been presented when we sat down but wasn't & we had to wait... again, for that. Anyway, the place was around capacity but not AT capacity so you'd think the staff could handle the situation better. Sirloin = ok. Pork chop = great. Speed of service = ok at best.

Service is extremely important in a restaurant. I may initially come to a restaurant for the food, but it's the service that will bring me back. The Milwaukee ChopHouse is a restaurant with awful service and an even worse manager. We waited over an hour after our scheduled time and they acted like nothing was wrong. Now I did not mind waiting but they even had the audacity to skip our reservation for a party that raised a bit of hell. Not only did they skip over my reservation they acted as if nothing was wrong. No apologies or anything, just business as usual. I will never come back to this establishment. The number one reason someone comes back to a restaurant is recognition and the Milwaukee ChopHouse failed on every level.

I was referred to this Restaurant by a family member, the food was great, tasty, but the service was poor. I ordered the Rib eye steak, it was very tasty, with the herbs, and tender. But, it was slightly overcooked, because our waitress was not very attentive when taking our order, she put my order as well done, not medium well, and she left to put in the order without getting our side dishes, she did not come back to follow-up on our table. I could barely understand her, she rushed through the menu and did not tell us the options available. Everything priced separately including the sides, the sides do not come with the meal, it's too pricey, I think at least one side should be included. I would dine again with a diff waitress.

Visited on Sunday evening of Downtown Dining week. They absolutely serve very good quality food and it is cooked just perfectly. They let the true flavor of the food come out without drowning it with sauce and overbearing spices. Service can be uneven; sometimes wait staff are hovering and other times totally out of sight. Food is a bit pricy and side are extra and again quite pricy but excellent. Wine list is a good cross section of well paired offerings. Unlike many of the other fine dining establishemtns in town this well appointed dining room is fairy quiet when it is filled to capacity. A definite plus. This is a restaurant to spend time and savor your dinner and enjoy your evening with friends.

Overall, the restaurant did not fit the typical definition of a chophouse. We dine at Del Frisco's often, mostly in Chicago, but also in Philly and Houston. The pricing at the Milwaukee ChopHouse is comparable, but the atmosphere, service and food quality is not. The atmosphere is not warm or welcoming. The service we received from Yoko was simply...utilitarian. She took our order; delivered our salad; removed our dinner plates. Others were friendlier and more pro-active. They brought us everything else: bread/toppings; entrees; tea refills. We dine out often, and tried to engage Yoko, asking for various reccommendations. She was having none of it. The food quality was very good, but not great; certainly not worth the price.

I selected the Milwaukee Chophouse based on the online reviews and we weren't disappointed. We went on Saturday April 27th and I had the Sea Bass and my husband had the 12oz Filet both of which were excellent. We also had a bottle of wine based on the server's recommendation with our dinner. It was very quiet and not super busy which was nice as we could carry on a conversation in normal voices. The restaurant is located in the Hilton Hotel which is perfect as we were staying the night at the Hilton for a kid free overnight.
