A word from Milwaukee ChopHouse
The Milwaukee ChopHouse began its critical acclaim six years ago. From the beginning it has earned a reputation for providing a spectacular wine list, a consistent classic menu, all while being delivered by some of the best service professionals the city has to offer. Our cellar is extensive and well thought through. With a list that was honored by The Wine Spectator with the Award of Excellence, how can one not find the perfect choice? The menu is a reflection of its classic steakhouse atmosphere. Some of the best steaks and chops are served along side the freshest seasonal seafood. Located in the heart of downtown, the Milwaukee ChopHouse is within walking distance of the theater district, sports venues, shopping and the lakefront.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I can only assume the chef has no taste buds as my food was horribly over salted. I sent it back requesting to salt and it still came back brinier than the Dead Sea. This was confirmed by other guests. I will never be back."

  • "If you are staying at the Milwaukee Hilton eat here. Decent appetizers. Steaks were great. They could pay more attention to vegetable dishes. Small wine list but a good one and they have avoided the sin of excessive markups."

  • "The Chophouse never disappoints. Nice variety of upscale food with extraordinary steaks in particular. Professional service, quiet enough for easy conversation, and validated parking. A reliable choice for special occasions that will always impress family, friends and business guests."

  • "Lamb Chops were perfectly prepared. Great food and service. Wait staff was very attentive. One of my favorite restaurants!"

  • "Food was not as good for the high prices. It was okay. Aged steak was less than average. Lobster tail was small"

  • "... But there are much better to be had elsewhere. While I can understand that the "Downtown Dining" event may tax any restaurant, better care should be taken of customers needs. From getting "starting" drinks to getting the check, our experience was less than stellar. After waiting 20 or so minutes after being seated, a waiter finally approached us & asked if we would like a drink. You'd think their "award-winning wine list" would have been presented when we sat down but wasn't & we had to wait... again, for that. Anyway, the place was around capacity but not AT capacity so you'd think the staff could handle the situation better. Sirloin = ok. Pork chop = great. Speed of service = ok at best."

  • "Dined with a group of 4. Between us we sampled all of the downtown dining week menu options and they were fabulous. Service and pacing were just right."

  • "Service is extremely important in a restaurant. I may initially come to a restaurant for the food, but it's the service that will bring me back. The Milwaukee ChopHouse is a restaurant with awful service and an even worse manager. We waited over an hour after our scheduled time and they acted like nothing was wrong. Now I did not mind waiting but they even had the audacity to skip our reservation for a party that raised a bit of hell. Not only did they skip over my reservation they acted as if nothing was wrong. No apologies or anything, just business as usual. I will never come back to this establishment. The number one reason someone comes back to a restaurant is recognition and the Milwaukee ChopHouse failed on every level."

  • "I was referred to this Restaurant by a family member, the food was great, tasty, but the service was poor. I ordered the Rib eye steak, it was very tasty, with the herbs, and tender. But, it was slightly overcooked, because our waitress was not very attentive when taking our order, she put my order as well done, not medium well, and she left to put in the order without getting our side dishes, she did not come back to follow-up on our table. I could barely understand her, she rushed through the menu and did not tell us the options available. Everything priced separately including the sides, the sides do not come with the meal, it's too pricey, I think at least one side should be included. I would dine again with a diff waitress."

  • "Visited on Sunday evening of Downtown Dining week. They absolutely serve very good quality food and it is cooked just perfectly. They let the true flavor of the food come out without drowning it with sauce and overbearing spices. Service can be uneven; sometimes wait staff are hovering and other times totally out of sight. Food is a bit pricy and side are extra and again quite pricy but excellent. Wine list is a good cross section of well paired offerings. Unlike many of the other fine dining establishemtns in town this well appointed dining room is fairy quiet when it is filled to capacity. A definite plus. This is a restaurant to spend time and savor your dinner and enjoy your evening with friends."

  • "Overall, the restaurant did not fit the typical definition of a chophouse. We dine at Del Frisco's often, mostly in Chicago, but also in Philly and Houston. The pricing at the Milwaukee ChopHouse is comparable, but the atmosphere, service and food quality is not. The atmosphere is not warm or welcoming. The service we received from Yoko was simply...utilitarian. She took our order; delivered our salad; removed our dinner plates. Others were friendlier and more pro-active. They brought us everything else: bread/toppings; entrees; tea refills. We dine out often, and tried to engage Yoko, asking for various reccommendations. She was having none of it. The food quality was very good, but not great; certainly not worth the price. "

  • "I selected the Milwaukee Chophouse based on the online reviews and we weren't disappointed. We went on Saturday April 27th and I had the Sea Bass and my husband had the 12oz Filet both of which were excellent. We also had a bottle of wine based on the server's recommendation with our dinner. It was very quiet and not super busy which was nice as we could carry on a conversation in normal voices. The restaurant is located in the Hilton Hotel which is perfect as we were staying the night at the Hilton for a kid free overnight. "

  • "We like to go out on Good Friday to steak houses as we find them not as busy as other Friday nights. This was very true about the Chophouse. The waitress joked with us about the tradition and we had some fun. The mushrooms are must - really good. The steaks were steaks (my husband prefers mine off our grill, but then we have to do all the work!). I recommend the bone-in ribeye. Very juicy. "

  • "My wife and I had dinner at the Milwaukee Chop house before going to a live show. The table was ready for us however, no assistance was provided to enter the back position in a booth. Our waitress was not attentive at all. The order was incorrect for the sides ordered. The entree was very good however, the sides, service, and overall experience was below the standard for an upscale restaurant. Attention to basic detail would be a step up. If the night is expected to be busy, staff accordingly. We were disappointed and looking forward to a much better experience."

  • "Chop House is the perfect combination of enjoyable restaurant with an exceptional menu and a business location to allow for critical conversations over dinner. On the menu side: The steaks are superb. And there are more than enough other options to satisfy varying tastes. Perparation is spot on, allowing diners to have a truly spectacular meal. Regarding business: the dining room is well-appointed, clean, "hushed" and not cute or themed. It is a comfortable foil for getting to know your work colleagues as well as having a dialog on important business matters. Service is attentive yet not distracting--exactly what you want in this situation. I'd highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I had the filet and my hubby had the porterhouse with a surf addition of scallops. While our steaks were cooked perfectly and were delicious, the scallops were laughable. Literally. We ordered the trio of sides. The scalloped corn could have been amazing, but was a tad chewy and very difficult to serve out of the plate/tray they used to deliver it to us. The mushrooms were fantastic. The baked potato was nearly inedible, still hard and not that wonderfully light and fluffy potato you should find at a high-end restaurant. Don't bother with making it "loaded" either. Plenty of other options for sides, so try some of those. :). Our waiter, Joey, was friendly and fun to chat with. Definitely will go back, but will just avoid a few pitfalls."

  • "Went for convenience since kids didn't want to go anywhere. Steak alone is around $40 average without any sides nor salad. If you add everything, salad, soup, steak and sides, they are over the price steak house. Good for romantic evening for couple, not for family like we were."

  • "The food was great, service top notch, the only bad thing I could say is it was a little too dark. Turn up the dimmer switch just a hair and it's five stars all the way. Perfect place to take that special someone fir any occasion."

  • "We enjoyed our time at the ChopHouse. Everything was fine except the service was slow. We had to wait for drinks upon arrival, waitress never came back to ask if we wanted a second round, coffee after dinner was slow to be offered, and we waited for our check for sometime. I expected better from the ChopHouse."

  • "A few years ago, my husband and Icelebrated our anniversary there, we decided because we had such acn amazing time then that we'd celebrate our anniversary there again. The 2nd experience was no where near as grand. Our waitress was as pleasant as she could be but so busy and unorganized that she didn't give us much attention. Waited long to be acknowledged wait a long time for drinks meal was just ok when a long time for the bill. We weren't in a hurry but it was hard to watch this poor waitress running so much. The first time we were there they asked what the occasion was and made a feel very special. Also paid for parking because we didn't see a sign saying free valet. Disappointed in the evening and I was so looking forward to it."

  • "Another great dinner at the Milwaukee Chophouse. Went the day after Valentine's but still got to experience their Valentine's menu. My wife and I shared a lobster tail and a New York strip steak, and it was fantastic. There was also mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was fantastic! Dinner started with oysters, shrimp, and seared ahi tuna, followed by chopped salad. Everything was really good. Service was great, food came rather quickly, and they made sure we had enough bread at the table. All in all it was a great experience. If you're looking for a great date night place and love good steak try the Chophouse!"

  • "Only issue was I noticed I was billed at least $20 more than what was on the bill. Don't know if I missed an added gratuity or a server took advantage of the out of towners."

  • "We made reservations on OpenTable for Sunday night ... but the earliest on the system was 7:15. We had to call the restaurant to get an earlier time. (5:00) Seems there is a glitch in system somewhere. When we arrived at 5, there were plenty of tables available. Othere than that, dining experience was fantastic, as usual."
