Milton InnBest brunch in years. OurBest brunch in years. Our server was excellent, the food terrific. The only suggestion for improvement might be using something other than a standard bloody mary mix. (Of course, I could be wrong about that.) In all, the best Baltimore restaurant experience in a decade.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for special occasionsThe Milton Inn is located in a stone house on York Rd in Sparks, MD. It's pricey, but worth the price. The food is excellent, both in how it looks, how it tastes, and how much they give you. It's probably not good for kids, but adults will want to return.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Milton Inn is a lovelyThe Milton Inn is a lovely special occasion restaurant. The Inn was a boys' school, one where John Wilkes Booth is said to have attended. There are several smaller sized rooms, all of which are tastefully decorated with different colors. The service is excellent not hovering but attentive. The clams casino were excellent and our steaks were done perfectly. The menu has changed since our visit so be be prepared to pay top dollar.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPaula and I hadn't been toPaula and I hadn't been to The Milton Inn for several years and it was good to get back and enjoy your great food and special atmosphere. It made the celebration of our birthdays very special.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother excellent dining experienceOnce again, the Milton Inn was our restaurant of choice to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and, as usual, we were very pleased with our evening! Starting off with a couple of very fresh salads, our food was simply delicious. We both had the filet Chesapeake (filet Mignon + crab cake), and both were exceptional: Cooked just right, piping hot, and very tasty! Service was very good - just missed on "exceptional" only because my wife ordered the sweet potatoes and was served the white, but they were great, also. Dessert - the cheesecake - was good but not extraordinary. Very enjoyable night - we hope to return next year, if not sooner!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTook a special someone toTook a special someone to lunch for a Birthday. PERFECT!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic and expensiveThe Milton Inn provides a romantic environment with good food, and excellent service. Food was very flavorful and presented well. There were a lot of specials, which were not listed on the menu. Although the waiter described them well, it would have been nice to be able to read the descriptions (and see the prices)to ponder them. Prices were higher than perhaps may have been warranted, but portions were generous. I would recommend for a special occasion only.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCountry opulenceVery expensive restaurant but for a special occasion you can not beat it.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFine Dining with AmbianceWe went there for our Anniversary - they had seated us in a romantic room where noise level was at a minimum. The Pan Seared Duck Breast was superb along with the Filet Mignon with Crab cake. We even received a nice surprise for dessert to celebrate the anniversary. Highly recommend this restaurant.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to Milton InnI have been to Milton Inn on several occassions with clients. They have never disappointed.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMbest in baltimoremy favorite place to share with friends...when i can afford it4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner was wonderful. TheDinner was wonderful. The appetizers were outstanding and portions generous. The appetizer sampler could easily have fed our entire group(7). Great spot for special occasion, but quite pricey.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMEaster Brunch at The MiltonEaster Brunch at The Milton Inn was excellent. We fully enjoyed the service, the ambience, the food - the entire experience was wonderful.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a lovely brunch, itemsHad a lovely brunch, items on menu not normally found in other restaurants. Room was noisy, mostly because of a large party that seemed to trying to have conversations from one end of a long table to the other. Service was quick, professional and unobtrusive, just the way it should be. Reasonably sized portions, high quality ingredients well prepared and presented. Parking is a bit challenging. Did not see entire property, but decor and furnishings that I did see were top-notch. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and relatives.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMissed the Boat with Easter BrunchThe Milton Inn has long been our family's favorite for special occasions. However, I was disappointed in our Easter brunch. The menu was limited and there was nothing particularly exciting. I had hoped their holiday brunch would be exceptional but it was only okay. I think they've missed an opportunity with their brunch offering. We will continue to frequent the restaurant for dinners but don't believe their brunch will be in our future.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExemplary Dining near BaltimoreUnique dining experience with an outstanding seafood dish in Seafood Andor --the flavor was divine. We figure our dining experience fits on the top three on the East Coast. The service was exemplary and the historical1740 setting combined with the soft lighting and classical music made the diner wish the experience would never end.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth a regular visit! Our server, Farrell, was very attentive but not over-bearing. We never needed to ask for anything. I had one of the specials (lobster tail, veal w/emmanthal(sp?)cheese and a small filet mignon) this dish came with Jack Tarr potatoes and veggies of the day. It came hot and not over-cooked. My had the 16oz NY Strip and asked for it rare but it came much more medium/med-rare. He is not a complainer so we did not ask for a correction and he enjoyed the steak just the same. My husband had the Shellfish Sampler (mussels, shrimp, lobster tail, fish and spinach risotto). Again the meal was delicious and the portions warranted the price charged. Only the risotto was left as it was overcooked but the delicious shellfish overshadowed the risotto.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMthe food was awesome. eachthe food was awesome. each item was very tasty. the chef tating menu always seems a great value.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe house is beautiful andThe house is beautiful and a romantic setting for a special dinner.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy Birthday JenFood, service and Ambiance was all you could ask for. Seated quickly, waitress took drinks order within minutes of being seated.Never rushed and food came at the right time.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe atmosphere and staff wereThe atmosphere and staff were excellent. Our waitress had extensive knowledge of the wines and paired a wonderful wine with our dinner selections.
The food was very good. Rating the following: app. 5; entree 5; dessert 3. based on 5 stars being the best. We found the desserts to be average to below average based on the price.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter was a true professional. Our waiter was a true professional. Excellent food and terrific atmosphere.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSo so food!!Overall a good experience, however, I was disappointed in some of the food. I had a Ceasar salad and the dressing was minimal and tasteless. It was very disappointing. I had a New York Strip steak which was tender and cooked properly but did not have much taste (they warn you that they use only salt and pepper). My wife had a spinach salad and fillet. She said both were good and she enjoyed them. For dessert the cheese cake was very good. Bottom line is the service and the environment are both excellent but I thought nothing was very special about the food except the price. I thought it was over priced and could have been much better -- especially for $200 for two people.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMHave a more casual dinnerHave a more casual dinner in the bar area, or at the bar. Cliff and Carol are fantastic!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Milton Inn is a gem, aThe Milton Inn is a gem, a truly special place, when the ordinary is not an option. The food is imaginative, freshly prepared, delicious, and served by a thoroughly professional wait staff in a beautiful atmosphere. An intimate dining room. Well worth the drive, time, and surprisingly affordable.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the visit! Our first time to Milton Inn - a fabulous dinner!! A beautiful, historic building - one of the servers gave me a sheet on the building's history. I'm not sure if you can request upstairs dining when making a reservation, but that's what I will do next time. We ate in the main dining room - very nice, but the upstairs was just a bit more secluded (I probably feel that way because we were seated right next to the door - so we saw everyone come and go). The meal was perfect - and I was surprised that the wine was reasonably priced as far as higher end restaurants go. Overall a great meal with friends! 'Business Casual' attire is perfect - although there were a couple of diners more casual - wearing (nice) denim.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous!Venison chops and the best oyster stew I ever ate were all over the top.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMToo Old FashionedThe Milton Inn is very nice and will continue to be a great romantic spot for foodies. However, I did not like the food that much. The staff was totally clueless when it came to eating healthy. Everything was dripping with butter and other high calorie sauces. I have been to very many fine restaurants and there was always something on the menu for healthy eating. They did have this ridiculous separate menu that was titeled "nutritious dining". The main course was still smothered in butter.
What is wrong with offering fresh fish and fresh steamed veggies? It can still be delicious, presented well and served with distinction.1/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been to the Milton InnWe've been to the Milton Inn numerous times and this time all was as expected from past visits. Food, setting and service were all very good. Steak was perfectly prepared and the Swordfish special was flavorful. My only comment is that IMHO the polenta cake that was served with the fish should have been a little thinner instead of a 1 inch hockey puck. I'm not price sensitive but I do think the pricing has gotten a little high for Baltimore County.....we are not in NYC or San Francisco after all so I think they need to be mindful of this before people decide to go elsewhere. $210 without a tip is a bit high for 2 people who each have an appetizer, entree, share a dessert, 2 drinks and a $38 bottle of wine.12/22/2012 12:00:00 AM
