Diner Reviews
  • "First off, had a great time. Server was excellent - attentive and very accommodating to my gluten free needs. My burger was excellent - cooked perfectly and flavored wonderfully. Wife's pork tenderloin was "chewy" and not very good, though she described the gravy and rice as "tasty". She also loved the bread and pimento cheese spread. Mixed drinks were meh, mine was very (acceptably) strong, hers could not possibly have had alcohol - probably should have sent it back. Wife's birthday treat - cheesecake - was also a solid offering, with an outstanding presentation. May give the restaurant another try as we have had much better experiences in the past. The ambience has always been great and still is. We both want to love our next experience!"

  • "Brandon was a very good waiter. Very attentive & knew the menu items well. He made our anniversary evening special. The creme brûlée was delicious. The complimentary special dessert with cheesecake/strawberry topping & chocolate - spelling out our anniversary was very good and very pretty. The ribs had a gamey taste to them, we both had them and would not order these again. Service & ambiance exceptional!!!!"

  • "Tough call but when a group is 17 people and making a LOT of loud conversation and noise, it REALLY dampens the experience of the other diners. We were one of only maybe 5 other tables in the place and we could barely hear one another talk. SEAT those groups way back and make the waitress walk the distance from other diners' tables maybe. We were seated almost next to them. THAT noise level impacts any and all enjoyment of food and company. Our waitress was amazing and service was personable, efficient, and charming!"

  • "It was "Date Night". Food was good and the service with Barbara (I believe) was excellent. We were early for our reservation but we were able to be seated immediately. It was not too crowded or loud so we could actually enjoy conversation without yelling or having someone else privy to our thoughts. Can't wait to visit again."

  • "Eating on the patio in a nice night is not to be missed."

  • "We are getting tired of being referred to as "guys" by restaurant employees. When the maitre'd does it, it is even worse. We had to ask about an advertised special that brought us to the restaurant as it was neither on the regular menu or the specials menu."

  • "This is a restaurant that never disappoints. You will come back time and again. The ambience, the friendliness & efficiency of the staff & the food is consistently very tasty. You will revisit time & again."

  • "Outstanding food! The waiter we had was very knowledgeable and helpful. This was our first time eating at the restaurant but will be back."

  • "I have been to Millrose a number of times and find this restaurant sets itself apart from the local competition with it's unique decor, rustic barn motife, along with an excellent menu and bar selection. Millrose withstands the local competition and continues to reinvent the menu, which keeps us coming back. We are also fan favorites of the entertainment as well - thoroughly enjoyed The Tony Ocean Show on the patio!"

  • "Definitely in need of some updates, things are starting to look worn. Went on Father's Day (made reservations on table) and kitchen was closing brunch at that time to get ready for dinner. Staff and waiter were great, but why take reservations for a time when the kitchen is closing? We definitely felt like we had to eat and run, unfortunately, it was our Father's day brunch."

  • "Service was outstanding!! however, the restaurant ran out of monkey bread, a special item for that day. the restaurant did reduce our bill accordingly. A great place to eat, we really enjoyed the day. We haven't been to Millrose in several years. Millrose is a treasure of the Northwest suburbs."

  • "We enjoyed an outdoor table directly in front of the beautiful fireplace. Three piece jazz combo was awesome. Service was exceedingly accomodating. Stakes are always top notch here."

  • "We met friends for dinner on a Saturday night. Restaurant looks tired and worn - outdated decor - the whole place looks like a throwback to the early 80s. Which would be ok except that the food also was uninspired. My $36 bone in rib eye was a small, thin piece of meat on a large plate - about 1/4 the size of a standard bone in rib eye. My husband's rare steak was gray. The gift shop was horrible - old, cheap touristy things marked down. The food and wine section was nice. Overall, for a $90 dinner that included only one drink I felt ripped off."

  • "The patio staff is WAY overworked. Only two wait people for the whole patio! Not their fault but service, of course, suffered. Busboys were great trying to pick up the slack. Food is nothing special but great patio!"

  • "I was looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate my son's graduation. We had been here before for a company party and liked the food and the atmosphere, so I thought it'd be a good choice. The staff was very flexible about changing my reservation when our event finished early. The food was very good and the noise level not too loud to have a nice celebratory dinner."

  • "we had 4 people and all our food was not good. Not tasty and blah. Chicken was not meaty and boney. My wife did not feel good the next day. We have been her before and food was much better. it appears this restaurant has fallen on hard times."

  • "Millrose has been one of our favorite places to dine for special occasions -- until Sunday, May 11. My wife, son and I went for a Mother's Day dinner. We had difficulty trying to change our reservation time because we kept getting a recorded message. Despite leaving callback info, I never heard back from staff. After we were seated, we had to wait too long for rolls, soup and salads. The signature ribs were mediocre, the sauce had no tang, the restaurant was too hot, and the server was way too chatty. Coincidence or not, on Tuesday, May 11, we 3 spent much of the day in the bathroom with stomach flu. We won't return."

  • "Went for Mothers day Brunch. It was OK ... there was a good variety, but nothing special for the Moms - not a free drink, etc. For $40 PP you would have thought a nice touch like that would have been offered. Millrose is a handsome place, it has been around for a long time and it is reliable."

  • "MillRose always has a great brunch for mothers and fathers day for our family. The choice for seating was disappointing, burying us in a corner with minimal room."

  • "We used to love Mill Rose but the food is no longer the quality it once was at least during this latest visit. We will however give it one more chance and visit again in the future. Hopefully it will be better."

  • "HI, We were there Friday night with my adult children celebrating my husband's birthday....We like Millrose...My kids said there's no one under 50 in the restaurant....don't know how they can make it more attractive for the younger crowd....but they better think of something...cause soon they will be Millrose's only POTENTIAL "older"customers....too bad, cause we love the food!"

  • "Went for an early Easter dinner and found a tremendous wait staff. Had been here before and food was better then. Just okay this time and bit pricey for what they offer. Nonetheless, for a special occasion or family get-together, it was nice. Warm atmosphere and well taken care of facility. Was surprised at the small number of diners. I suspect others have the same feelings regarding the food and prices. "

  • "We are not new to the Millrose but this years brunch was exceptional. We were seated in a booth away from the entry and secluded. Our waitress was prompt and efficient. The buffet was properly maintained and attractively displayed. The mixture of great unusual vegetable choices, excellent selection of meats, fish & chicken and the availability of really fresh fruit made the dining experience memorable. Then came the desserts---yummy!"

  • "We were able to get a last minute reservation at Millrose and thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband had filet mignon which was done to perfection and I had walleye which was also dee-lish."

  • "Restaurant is made of several antique barns. Beautiful and VERY COOL and sweet lighting. Nice little relish tray and fresh bread basket with unique spread along with butter. Delicious BBQ sauce. Very accommodating staff. Nice price on full slab of bbq baby back ribs all week long. If you live in the area, you can't beat their rib special. Unique corn meal crusted calamari although appetizer was smallish for the price."

  • "We saw the rib special ad and thought we would try it. Our server was attentive. We liked the bread and veggies that were provided on the table. The wine was a generous pour and the house red was delicious. The ribs were fall off the bone tender but the sauce was too salty for our taste. But we did enjoy them. And our server brought warm wet towels to clean-up - a very nice touch. The pistachio gelato dessert was fabulous."

  • "Been there twice and will go back again, the food is very good. The meal come with soup or salad get the soup homemade and wonderful. The standard beef vegetable is so good you could make a meal of it. Will be going back that good."

  • "The overall experience was good, however I would not order the ribs and pasta again. While not bad it was not of Millrose's normal quality."

  • "Happy with the bar, not the restaurant. The musicians in the bar area had a great playlist, played at a level you could hear but still have a conversation. I will go back there with friends!! I wanted to love Millrose restaurant that night but it fell short. We had a reservation and still waited for our table (there were a number of empty tables). The restaurant needs to update. The decor was tired, the menu a little boring, the host a little pretentious, the waitress could have been more accomodating (the substitution for fries was $3 - a little steep I thought). The special was gone (7:30 reservation). Some entrees were very good but I had the ribs (a past favorite of mine there) and am not sure I'll eat the leftovers."

  • "Worst service I have had in a restaurant of this caliber in years. We had to ask for water, we had to ask to get plates cleared, we had to ask for everything... when bill came, by friend tipped 12% and the waitress IMMEDIATELY came over and asked if their was something wrong with the service. Reality is it was good to see that she could do something quickly."

  • "Millrose recently converted to a Supper Club, opening at 5:00 on Tuesdays through Sundays (plus Sunday brunch hours). We would dine here after work or mid-afternoon on vacation days. We recently retired and now prefer to have our main meal earlier in the day, so we're disappointed that we can't include Millrose in our new schedule as easily as we had hoped. That said, we love the ambiance of their seasonal decorations and the warmth of the fireplace. Their entrees are always deliciously prepared. I especially like the Pork Tenderloin Marsala or the Broiled Salmon. Give this place a try."

  • "We hadn't been to Millrose for quite a while. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by friendly, personable staff. Our food, from the appetizer to the dessert was quite good and our waitress was really great. It was crowded, but that was not a problem. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. We definitely will be going back."

  • "We were looking for a pre-theatre place and Millrose fit the bill. Hadn't been there for a while, and they did not disappoint. Nice supper club atmosphere, though I wished the relish tray was a bit more....I remember cottage cheese and pate..though the pimento cheese and veggies were good.Calamari needed a bit more crisp, but Manhattens and Rib specials were spot on. A mark for me is Creme Brulee...Millrose was very good. Wish they were open for lunch."

  • "Millrose is always consistently good. The food, the ambience & the service is superb. It is a great restaurant to go to for a special occasion. The staff is efficient, friendly & don't rush you. You feel like a guest in their home. To me that is very inviting. You want to come back time & again."

  • "Millrose has been a great place to dine over the years. The joined barns and great bar are to be relished. They have made changes in the recent past but the look and feel is still the same. i realize they are trying to attract a larger audience but the traditional items are still on the menu. Service was excellent and the food was good. The atmosphere adds to the experience. I will be back soon even if I were to sit at the bar and have a beer!"

  • "Arrived 10 mins early for a reservation on a Thursday night place was almost empty but would not seat us because the wait staff was to busy. When we got seat 20 mins AFTER our reservation time our poor waitress was slammed an had almost a whole dining room to cover. However they appeared to be alot of mangers??? chit chating with "friends" vs helping out. The food is $$$ but decent, the relish tray cute an a throw back to my youth. Would I come again mmm probably not price, attitude of staff to many other restaurants in the area. But if you haven't been go once just to say you have.."

  • "From the server, to the dust balls above our table, to the quality of the food our overall experience was very poor. Our waitress seemed to forget about us, and when we asked to order she was rude, stating, "Well, what do you want?". My ravioli looked like it was from the freezer section at Aldi, and the wine available in glasses were all very sub-par. There is great promise in a location of such beauty but it seems to be taken for granted that clients will come for the ambiance, because the food and service do not live up."

  • "We meet friends at Millrose quite often and always have a delicious meal and great service. We love their homemade salad dressings and usually order the special -- always a great deal. This time we had the strip steak special that included a baked potato, soup or salad and a glass of wine for $19.00. I highly recommend Millrose Restaurant."
