I would highly recommend this place to my friends (the web site would not permit me to answer yes above). I needed some interpretation for the menu items, but the server was gracious and able to provide me with some options for a well balanced and very tasty meal that not only fit the budget but my picky food preferences. Love this place!

We were seated at our requested table reserved through Open Table. Coming into the restaurant is so refreshing and the sunny day shone through its many windows. Our waitress was attentive and helpful with the menu. The Cobb Salad was laid out in strips of ingredients which I had to stir together and everything was so finely chopped it was difficult to eat. I always request additional dressing as salads are lightly dressed. The turkey burger was cooked as requested and enjoyed. Of course the dessert miniatures are the best, our favorites are the panna cotta and the triple chocolate. What more is there to say?

We've been to Mill Valley Kitchen many times. All of us were pleased w/ our entrees but were so disappointed in dessert. We all ordered apple crisp a la mode at the recommendation of our server, especially after she played up the homemade ice cream. I guess we had "traditional apple crisp" in our minds so what we got didn't measure up. We didn't expect rosemary in our apple crisp and we expected more than a tablespoon of ice cream. We understand the need to be innovative, but since it was indeed so different, it probably would have been good to point that out. You could do it in a positive way...but if someone had told us there would be rosemary in our dessert we would have known that to suit our taste we needed to stick to cookies!

Service could definitely be improved- I've been here a couple of times- had a great server once & the other times- meh. Inattentive, not paying attention to my needs (wine glass empty for awhile, etc.) I had the sea bass twice- the first time it was AMAZING. Cooked perfectly & that was when I had great service too with a server who could recommend a good wine pairing, etc. The second time, it was overcooked and tasted less than fresh- it didn't send it back, I did tell the server that it wasn't as good that time around and her response was that she wished I told her earlier. I was looking forward to this being a regular spot for me, but it's inconsistency holds me back. Super bummer because I love that they have healthier menu options.

Mill Valley Kitchen is one of my absolute favorites, so it was a natural choice for a birthday dinner for my husband. It has excellent food, very easy to read and well labeled menu (one vegan and one vegetarian diner), amazingly helpful and friendly staff, and an accessible yet elegant ambiance. It is one of the restuarants in the Twin Cities that I love introducing to people who have not been their before and they are always impressed. The restaurant even took note of my note (in my OpenTable booking) that it was my husband's brithday. He was so impressed with how friendly the staff was and how many people wished him a happy birthday! We will definitely be back and bringing more friends and family!

At this time, we had a wonderful salad, and great entrees with desserts. The food was great, and the noise level was a bit loud as there were several families with small children around us, although at other times we've seen it quieter. Beautiful looking place, and service was awesome. Very attentive to our needs. Servers seemed happy and so did the staff, and awesome food. Good experience.

The kitchen fans were not exhausting so the restaurant became very smokey. The manager did not respond quickly enough to rid the smoke from the restaurant. It was very unfortunate and understand things happen, but the manager should have opened doors on both sides of the restaurant quicker to get some fresh air in to push out the smoke. it was very uncomfortable.

I thought the food missed being worth the high price. My Littleneck Clam appetizer, for example, was too spicy, too many mushrooms, and I couldn't taste the clams...but I could chew them for quite a while because they were rubbery. There was no warning about cilantro in the cucumber portion of my sea bass entree. I am one of the large number of people for whom cilantro tastes like soap so I avoid it whenever I dine out. The menu didn't mention the cilantro, so my first bite pretty much ruined the meal. The espresso was kind of bad, actually. Must have been that cheap, Lavazzo coffee. The sea bass was cooked well, though. My wife liked her meal better than I liked mine.

A beautiful room with beautiful food. Loved flatbread, salads and desserts. Appreciated nutrition information with each item. Next time will take server's recommendation and try the fish, though will be tempted again to put together a meal with side dishes, which are plentiful and inventive. The duck might have been more succulent, the service more sophisticated, but overall we had a lovely night at this tucked away gem. Parking can be tricky; be prepared to find a street spot on Excelsior, across street from restaurant and west of France.

We dined on a Saturday night at Mill Valley Kitchen. The restaurant was fairly busy and also pretty noisy. This is the second time we dined here, I remember the first time being much more impressed. The service was excellent. The food is okay but not great. The portions are particularly small. Especially for the filet and the sea bass. The choices of food are unique and if you are looking for all natural, then this will be your place. The wine list is good, and they also had several lovely cocktails. I think the price point is a bit high for what you really get.

The food is well prepared with healthy ingredients, like grass fed beef. Go really healthy with green smoothies, etc. They could use a little more variety, but when you source your food as well as they do it's probably difficult to have too many items.

Usually the service is wonderful but this visit was different. Our waitress did't appear for uncomfortable amount of time and once ordered the smoothie was quickly delivered by the bar person but another wait for a cup of coffee. We never heard the specials as they were shared with a nearby table. The house cured salmon open face sandwich was generous in its serving but sweeter flavor than expected for a lox entree. The other meal, a breakfast burrito, arrived cold and not appealing. We sensed that no one was monitoring the room and there was some apparent confusion among servers as to their assignments. We like the restaurant and the food and will go again and hope they've worked out the kinks.
