Great food and service. Restaurant cheerfully accomodated baby stroller. The sea bass and halibut entrees were excellent as was the tuna poke app. The carrot apple ginger honey soup special would have been much better without the honey ( too sweet). As alluded by other diners, the noise level can be quite loud but is not so loud to be terribly annoying.

We dined for a romantic and healthy meal that was diverse, clean and so tasty. What amazes me about this place (this is the second time we've been) is that while the service is amazingly attentive and perfect, the food is so elegant and lovely for being so simple. Some places feel like they have to drown their food in butter or salt to make their meals taste good; Mill Valley seems to allow the food to speak for itself. Everything feels fresh and light. You walk away so content after visiting this restaurant, you can't help but say "we need to come back here again soon!"

Who knew that you could find a restaurant offering such excellent food on Excelsior Blvd! I've eaten there twice in the last week, once for lunch, once for dinner, and will definitely return. The locally-sourced food is prepared creatively and deliciously, and presented in a very appealing manner. Be sure to try one of the flatbreads.

Having visited Marin County and Mill Valley several times, I was not disappointed in Mill Valley Kitchen. We were well received, the service was prompt and friendly with a fun wine list to choose from. Many Notable California wines on it. We had the Grilled Romaine and Heirloom tomato for appetizer, moth were yummy. For the entrees, we had the Sesame Tuna and Alaskan Halibut. The halibut was cooked to perfection and fall apart delicious, though the gazpacho it was served in nearly out shined it. The tuna was well prepared, but I think the halibut was better. I love how desserts are small, perfect portions after a copious meal. Kudos to Mill Valley Kitchens!

  • Bad Night For Steak?

I ate at Mill Valley Kitchen twice within one week. I had the sirloin first time and thought it was excellent. Just the right size, cooked perfectly and I adored the corn, tomato, potato dish that came with it. I liked it so much, I ordered it the second time as well. In fact, I convinced my friends to order it too. Unfortunately, while still good, my steak was quite a bit tougher the second time. I think my friends felt the same about theirs. Like I said, it was still good and the vegetables were still amazing....maybe just a bad night for steak? I would still recommend Mill Valley Kitchen to others.

We used to come here all the time and although the service and food remain fantastic, something is just not the same. Many times our wine has been too warm, the restaurant too hot (even after they said they got the AC fixed), and the clientele ruder and more disruptive. I know you can't control who comes into the restaurant but it seems as if "deals" like free meals for kids and cheap food for happy hour bring out the worst of Minneapolis. Management has also changed and the new manager appears to be oblivious to the downhill slide and has been overheard belittling the serving staff when it is clear they are the one of the only good things left about this place.

This was my first time dining at Mill Valley Kitchen and I was not disappointed. I read many reviews prior to reserving a table and everyone seemed to really like this place. I am no exception. Add me to the list of very satisfied customers. The food was excellent. I was a little concerned because the type of food they serve might not appeal to everyone in my group; however, there was not a single complaint in the bunch. Everyone was able to find something they wanted to try and nobody had anything bad to say after we finished. If there is one thing that made the night a little difficult, it was the noise level. It did seem to be rather loud inside making it challenging for conversation. Not so much that it was impossible, though.

SO MANY choices of well-prepared, healthy and delicious food. But a huge down side: even with only a few other diners, the noise level is LOUD. With all tables filled, you have to shout to communicate with the others at your table. I'm sure that helps turn tables, but it discourages repeat visits from at least our group. Are we unique in desiring a quieter dining experience, or would it make sense for the owner to invest in a sound-dampening system? Definition of ambiance: "a feeling or mood associated with a particular place, person, or thing: atmosphere." Mill Valley Kitchen would warrant a five-star ambiance rating from me if the noise level were tolerable. I'll monitor others' reviews to see whether there's progress on that front.

Four of us were seated outside on a nice Friday evening. The table was a bit wobbly so we asked the waiter for something under one of the table legs. He said they had some special wedges and would bring one back. Well he forgot and had to ask him again. We all ordered beverages and those were slow to come out. We ordered food and that too was slow to come out. I might add they were not busy. The waiter offered some ketchup or mustard for my wife's bison burger and she asked for the mustard. The waiter finally brought it out but not after my wife got tired of waiting and she was nearly done with the burger. Overall the food was good, but the service disappointing.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Mill Valley Kitchen. We started with a heirloom tomato and peach salad and a flatbread with cheve, onions and spinach; both were outstanding. Our entrees were perfectly prepared. The veggie plate with quinoa was a wonderful mix of colors, flavors and presetation and the salmon perfect. They treated us to a blueberry cobbler to top off our celebration. We'll definitely be back.

We were not aware that after 4:00 pm on Sundays, Kids Eat Free. There were several families with very loud, screaming toddlers that took advantage of this policy. Such wonderful foo, a such a delightful night. We tried to salads, both excellent (the baby kale salad is such a treat) a variety of small plates which were fun and span a wide variety of flavors (we wished the hummus had more flavor), and out seared tuna entree was cooked perfectly and such a good compliment to the veggie small plates we ordered. Mill Valley Kitchen is a nice, clean neighborhood restaurant that serves healthy fare. In side it is bright and open. Lots of seating. The menu shows calorie counts and other nutritional info. They also have carryout. Had breakfast there with a friend and it was very good. Nicely presented too. The service was prompt and polite. The waitress came around multiple times to check on us and refill coffee. But reassured us there was no rush to leave and we could sit as long as we liked. The outdoor patio is very nice too.

parking is bad...if you cannot accommodate guests in the lot then valet parking reps should not "expect" a tip - you should cover it and build it into your business plan. The food is pretty good but 1) is not a good value and 2) you need more comfort food or mainstream choices (i hate asking the wait person what a food component is; 3) the portions are too small which contributes to "1" above; 4) my cobb salad was so-so--lacked flavor/zest; 5) why don't you offer complimentary bread or rolls? your prices go up and the food experience goes down.
